The gates creaked open for the first time in years.
Damien stepped through the wild, overgrown garden with heavy steps, Nora beside him. The air smelled of dust and memory—of things never spoken and wounds that never healed.
"This place…" she began, but Damien raised a hand.
"Every corner has a shadow," he murmured. "Some of them wear my name."
Inside, the old manor still stood like a defiant relic. Paint peeled, curtains torn, but the bones of it remained strong—just like the family that once ruled from within.
Or what was left of it.

Elira descended the stairs first, flashlight scanning the stone walls. Old portraits stared down, their faces blurred with age.
"These documents were sealed after the Kane conflict," she said. "Your grandfather must've known something he didn't want the world to find."
Damien ran his fingers along the shelf before pulling a thick leather-bound file marked "Codex V."
He flipped it open—and stopped.
Nora leaned in.
It was a genealogy chart. But not just for Damien's bloodline.
There were connections to families that had long been presumed enemies—and even alliances never made public. One name was circled in red: Valen De Vries.
Victor's father.

Rachel stared at the scanned documents in disbelief. "You're telling me Victor's bloodline was tied to yours from the beginning? That the two families were one before they were rivals?"
"Exactly," Damien replied. "Someone split the tree… but now I know why."
Elira zoomed in on a faded entry near the bottom. "There's a sealed trust, Damien. A vault. Protected by dual biometric locks—yours and Victor's."
Nora raised an eyebrow. "So the last piece of the global control network… needs you both to access it?"
"Not just us," Damien said grimly. "It needs peace between two legacies built on war."

Victor stood in the snow, flanked by two of his elite soldiers. His comm buzzed.
Damien's voice came through.
"I know who we are now. And what they've hidden from us."
Victor didn't flinch. "Took you long enough."
"We need to open the vault. Together."
Victor paused.
Then slowly, he replied, "You bring your truth. I'll bring mine. But if you try anything, I won't hesitate."
Damien's voice was calm. "Then I guess we'll see whose legacy really matters."
