[Status: Sad, Anxious]
[Evolution Path: None for now]
There's no denying it—Mimikyu's base stats are impressive. At 476, it's already nearing the upper limit for a B-grade rating, almost breaking into A-tier territory.
Even the final evolutions of starter Pokémon usually only sit around 525 base stat total.
And then there's its unique move set and the one-of-a-kind ability: Disguise.
Lovy was visibly tempted. If he could capture this Mimikyu, he wouldn't just dominate the early stages—it could easily be trained into a pro-level Pokémon.
"Streamer, why does Mimikyu like to imitate Pikachu?"
The question pulled Lovy back to reality.
"Great question. There are two main theories about why Mimikyu imitates Pikachu. One is that Mimikyu is born from the spirits of abandoned Pokémon, turning into ghosts fueled by resentment. Because of that, it deeply craves human affection. Pikachu is incredibly beloved, so Mimikyu tries to mimic Pikachu's look to win people's love."
"That's so sad…"
[Poor thing… it just wants to be liked but ends up scaring people!]
[Like a tragic version of the classic tale: 'Dong Shi imitates Xi Shi']
[Feels more like something straight out of a horror story!]
"The other theory is that Mimikyu is a naturally occurring Fairy-type that's just really emotionally attached to humans—easily lonely. Pikachu's popularity made it want to dress like Pikachu to feel closer to people. Either way, the idea is similar."
"I don't think it's scary anymore. It's honestly just a pitiful little guy. Can I go try to approach it?"
The girl seemed much calmer now.
"Not so fast. It's still a wild Ghost-type Pokémon. That always carries some risk."
Even starter Pokémon can be dangerous—let alone one with 476 base stats.
[Don't interrupt her! Let the streamer keep explaining!]
[So why does it wear sunglasses?]
Seeing the chat's rising interest in Mimikyu, Lovy continued his explanation:
"Based on what I just said—Mimikyu believes its true form is terrifying and doesn't want anyone to see it. So if someone tries to peek under its disguise, it can panic, lash out, and even try to kill the person…"
"That's why I asked her to wear sunglasses—so Mimikyu would think she can't see. Earlier, I wasn't sure if its disguise was torn or not. Turns out I was right. Its 'neck' was broken, and the cloth there had ripped."
Upon hearing this, the girl went pale.
"Wait—seriously? That's terrifying."
[Whoa, that dangerous?]
[Streamer, what if the sunglasses don't work?]
"If they don't, then shut the door fast! What else—just wait to die?"
At that moment, Mimikyu—still crying in front of the mirror—seemed to sense the girl's presence.
It turned and glanced toward her, then quickly hid behind the mirror.
"It's scared you'll notice it's imitating Pikachu—especially since the disguise is damaged and its 'neck' is clearly broken."
"Streamer, what should I do now?"
"Find a piece of cloth, preferably with needle and thread. If you have a wooden stick, even better."
Lovy paused to think.
"I've got cloth. I'll have to look for thread. As for a stick... I only have a wooden clothes hanger. Will that work?"
"That's fine. Just be careful not to let Pichu out. Mimikyu gets jealous of Pikachu—and Pichu does too."
Following Lovy's instructions, the girl—"Hubby's Not Home"—got to work.
"Streamer, I'm going."
She tiptoed toward the room, gently opened the door, and placed the items on the floor a safe distance away from Mimikyu.
Just like feeding a stray cat—get too close, and you might get scratched. Better to leave the offering nearby.
"Pika…"
Mimikyu peeked its head out, cautiously scoped the area, then darted out to grab the supplies and scurried back behind the mirror.
"Is it… fixing its disguise?"
From under the cloth, a shadowy hand emerged.
It took apart the wooden hanger, extracted a piece of suitable wood, and slotted it into its "neck" to prop the Pikachu head back up.
Then, using needle and thread, it began sewing new cloth over the torn area.
This way, its ghostly body would no longer be exposed.
"Pikachu!"
After finishing the repair, Mimikyu looked at its reflection—and finally stopped crying.
Lovy noticed its status on the screen had changed to: [Happy, Grateful]
"It's done. You helped Mimikyu fix its costume, so now it won't hurt you. You can turn on the light."
Click.
As the room lit up, Mimikyu's full form came into view.
"Those two little black dots on its belly… those are its real eyes? Honestly, it looks kinda cute."
The girl studied Mimikyu.
Mimikyu, noticing she wasn't scared, cautiously moved closer.
"Can I pet it?"
"Go ahead."
With Lovy's reassurance, she gently reached out and touched Mimikyu's head.
"Strange feeling… It's hollow, but still kind of solid. This little guy… really needs love."
[Wow, she could probably catch it now!]
[This is a totally new Pokémon—lots of research potential!]
[Streamer, does Mimikyu have a special ability?]
"Yes—Mimikyu's ability is Disguise. The costume it wears has some kind of mystical power. It lets Mimikyu avoid damage once by having the disguise take the hit. But it only works if the disguise is intact."
[That's insane!]
[You call this 'knowing a little'? You could write a paper on this!]
"Ah… Mimikyu ran off…"
The girl seemed a bit disappointed.
"Well, it is a wild Pokémon after all. But don't worry—it'll probably come back."
Lovy reassured her.
"Thanks, streamer. I'm not scared anymore, and it's all thanks to you. I'll let you get back to your stream now!"
She ended the call and even sent a gift.
"Thanks for the six Pokéballs! Gorgeous and generous—what a combo!"
With the gift effects flashing on-screen, Lovy lit up with renewed energy:
"Still got time tonight! Next appraiser, please! This is the Snorlax Pokémon Appraisal Stream! Free evaluations of any Pokémon! If it's a Pokémon, I can appraise it!"
Ahem… Tried to keep it to 2,000 words, but whoops—nearly hit 3k again. Just love writing too much! Can't help it! Okay okay—had to wrap up the Mimikyu arc, or it'd drag on forever. Tomorrow: new Pokémon appraisal!
Back on Lovy's end, he was selecting the next viewer to connect with.
Suddenly, another gift popped up—six Pokéballs, just like before.
Each red-and-white ball bounced across the screen, pumping Lovy up.
One Pokéball gift is worth 50 yuan—so six is 300. After the platform's cut, that's still 210 yuan in hand. Not bad at all.
Two waves of gifts already—his guaranteed earnings from this stream were now 420 yuan.
Grinning to himself, Lovy spoke:
"Huge thanks to Dodo Express · Ah Wen for the six Pokéballs! Wishing your business endless success!"
Only then did Lovy realize—wasn't that the courier who had the Meowth he appraised the other night?
He opened the profile—yep, that was the guy.
He'd said he'd send a gift, and Lovy had completely forgotten. Nice surprise after all this time.
@Dodo Express · Ah Wen:
"Streamer! Here's that late gift! Got too busy playing with Meowth and totally forgot!"
"No worries, no worries! Way too kind! I always appraise for free!"
He said that, but the smile on his face was wider than it had been all day.
[Shameless!]
[Love watching him appraise—hate watching him get rich!]
"Don't get salty, folks—I'm only two days into streaming!"
[666!]
[Say no more—let's report him!]
[Please stop sending gifts—any more and he'll be buying a Land Rover!]
Chat flooded in with jokes and banter. Lovy was clearly having a blast.
