Chapter 42 - A Bobo as strong as a Machamp?

Immersed in the materials, time flew by.

Before she knew it, it was 2:59 PM, and Lovy entered the livestream room.

She didn't need to be too early, but being late was absolutely not an option.

@BoboCan'tFly: "Streamer's cutting it close, huh?"

What surprised Lovy was that there were already some viewers waiting in the room.

Looks like her fan engagement was actually pretty solid.

"What are you talking about? Cutting it close? You make it sound like I'm sneaking around like a thief."

Lovy instinctively started interacting with the audience.

This was the instinct of a seasoned streamer—you needed good banter and the ability to keep up with it.

Meanwhile—

At a livestreaming base somewhere—

A trendy, playfully dressed young female streamer was furiously typing on her phone, her manicured nails tapping sharply against the screen.

@BoboCan'tFly: "Streamer-bro, you are a thief. Just not the kind that steals wallets—but the kind that steals hearts. I only looked at you once in a crowd, and you stole mine."

Xiao Wen wore a mischievous, fox-like smile. Her eyes curved into crescents.

Even without makeup, her fair, youthful skin and well-defined features could easily charm an army of looks-obsessed fans—both male and female.

That's right.

This Xiao Wen, real name Xu Qingwen, was a signed streamer with the "Jinzhu" streamer guild, a rising star and recent breakout talent.

She had started around the same time as Lovy, both being talents under the manager Hu Yue.

She had noticed Hu Yue sending gifts in Lovy's stream once, made a mental note of it, and suddenly remembered today. So, she decided to tease—

No, check up on her guild-expelled "little brother."

Back in Lovy's stream, she read the comment and got goosebumps.

What the heck was that? Cringe much?

Still, despite the teasing thought, Lovy replied with interest:

"Please, don't fall for me. Oh, I'm just a legend…"

@Commenter: "Streamer, how old are you? That's such an ancient, emo-era meme!"

@Another: "Oof, flashbacks to cringey memories!"

"Ah, such a cheesy line."

Xiao Wen was just about to type a reply when Lovy kept going:

"And don't stare at me in the crowd again... you're too beautiful—look again and I'll explode!"

"Pfft!"

@Viewer: "666! Streamer, you broke character!"

@Another Viewer: "Wait—is our streamer secretly a Pokémon master with 2.5 years of training?"

Xiao Wen nearly spat out her drink—good thing she wasn't drinking anything.

Others nearby glanced at her, so she quickly explained:

"I just saw a hilarious video…"

Sitting at a nearby desk, Hu Yue, who had been studying stream scripting, gave Xiao Wen a long look.

Xiao Wen flashed her white teeth in a sheepish grin.

"Feels like you're up to something,"

Hu Yue muttered, but didn't pay too much attention.

Xiao Wen immediately looked down and typed:

@BoboCan'tFly: "Streamer, could you help identify my Pokémon later? My Bobo still can't fly. Can you check if there's something seriously wrong?"

She glanced under her desk, where her Pokémon, "Bobo," lay resting.

Her eyes held both affection and helplessness.

Everyone else's Bobo liked flying and perching on high places.

Hers? Always lying on the ground like a little puppy.

She had already taken it to the hospital, and everything checked out fine. No clue what the issue was.

Having seen Lovy's Pokémon appraisal before, she thought: might as well give it a shot—nothing to lose.

"No problem. You were the first to comment in today's stream—I can't say no. Besides, others might send gifts, but you sent me your heart. If I still refuse, wouldn't that make me a total jerk?"

Lovy had no idea if "BoboCan'tFly" was male or female, or some kind of internet troll.

Xiao Wen was using a private account—gender hidden, totally anonymous.

To Lovy, this was just normal streamer-fan banter.

"Haha, smooth talker. No wonder Hu Yue brought you in. Too bad, being witty doesn't guarantee traffic... But wait, why does it seem like your viewership actually went up after leaving the guild?"

Xiao Wen muttered to herself, watching the stream's numbers rise steadily after Lovy went live.

She had thought Lovy, already kind of a flop, would do even worse after getting kicked from the guild.

Now, she couldn't help but grow more curious about the upcoming "appraisal."

@BoboCan'tFly: "Hold on streamer, I'm gonna switch to a better place."

With a quick glance around, she picked up her Bobo and headed to the company bathroom.

Not that she was doing anything shady…

But Xiao Wen didn't want Hu Yue finding out she snuck into Lovy's stream.

Otherwise, she'd get nagged to death.

[Connection Successful!]

As the video link came on, Lovy blinked:

"This is the better place? Are you Lao Ba?"

@Chat: "Is this… the toilet?"

@Chat: "Streamer about to get hit with something nasty?"

@Chat: "Who identifies Pokémon in a bathroom?"

@Chat: "Here we go, folks!"

Lovy now saw clearly—it was a squat toilet.

Not particularly clean. Some crumpled tissues near the trash bin—possibly even "filled."

Seemed to be a public restroom.

@Chat: "BoboCan'tFly? More like PoopCan'tFly!"

@Chat: "Wait, isn't that a girl? She's dressed pretty cute."

@Chat: "This smells… stinky."

"You're Lao Ba! You're all Lao Ba!"

The voice on the other side gritted its teeth—it sounded like a young woman.

In the shot, aside from the bathroom, viewers could catch a glimpse of "BoboCan'tFly's" body.

Keen-eyed fans even noticed the hem of a skirt—further confirming she was a young girl.

Her sweet voice added to the viewer's imagination.

"Seriously? Just a little glimpse and y'all think she's hot? Don't go praising every girl blindly!"

Lovy mentally grumbled at the chat.

He recalled how in online games, some guys would go nuts over any female avatar or voice—only to find out later the person behind the screen was a burly dude or a "Tiger Tank."

If they didn't show their face, treat them like a hidden boss.

"Where's Bobo? Let me see your Bobo."

Lovy looked at the setting, starting to feel disrespected. His tone wasn't impatient, but it was crisp and direct.

@Chat: "666! Streamer went straight for the Bobo!"

@Chat: "He's identifying a Pokémon, duh. What else?"

@Chat: "Judging from her voice, her Bobo is max B-grade. Most likely A. I'm talking IV stats, by the way."

Lovy could only sigh.

Teasing a girl was like a favorite hobby for some viewers.

And why did Lovy sigh?

Because these guys had turned suggestive language into an art.

If you called them out, they'd act clueless—and somehow you would look like the pervert.

Truth is, only the pure-hearted wouldn't get it.

On the other side, "BoboCan'tFly"—aka Xiao Wen—was about to grind her teeth to dust.

These comments were ridiculous, but just as the chat said, she couldn't even complain.
