Chapter 5 - Day two Life Two Pt2

I scan the pages over and over looking at all the abilities. They aren't in any order, and they all cost different amounts of ability points. Flaming arrows, lightning strikes, blessed rain, healing halo, burning sun, titan plants, there were so many cool sounding abilities; bummer I can't afford any of them. After looking through the abilities I finally found abilities that I could afford with my small number of points. There were abilities such as sleep, eat, blink, and a few more that didn't cost any ability points at all. "Why don't some of the abilities in the index require ability points?" system responds rather dryly to my question, * You can earn them by just doing the action. You want the ability sleep, fall asleep a few times. You want the ability eat, eat a few times. You want the ability blink, guess what blink a few times. * I laugh at the system. They remind me a good bit of my friends back home whenever I ask a crazy question.

"Hold on a minute, you mean to tell me this whole time I haven't blinked? I've also been here for a whole day, why am I not hungry yet? And I don't need sleep either?" The wind blows and all is quiet. I promise the system is becoming irritated with my questions. "Its not my fault I haven't noticed these things, how would I even know, I'm still getting used to being here!" Again, only the wind blows * Looking at your body and the fact that when you were stabbed, your blood was a green slimy like material; take the facts that plants grow when your near and you have green eyes, I'd say you're a plant being. Something unheard of here. * I briefly remember Hebenami talking about the Greek goddess Persephone and Titaness Gaia.

"What a joyous day it is! I can control plants!! You know back in my world, there was this lady I had read about in comic books with red hair and she could also control plants. I idolized her, although she started off evil, last I read she had become more of an antihero and I love that." I reopen the ability index and go back to where I left off. "Hey system, is there any way I can categorize or filter the ability index? The system doesn't sigh or sound tired of me this time when they reply, * Yes you can, simply ask the index to sort and filter, then speak how you'd like it to be done. For an example, you would say "index, filter out all abilities without plant typing." * I did as the system told me too and the index closed and reopened and then there were only plant types listed. "Ooh ooh, index, sort by lowest to highest ability points needed." Again, the index closed itself then reopened.

The first two rows listed in the index included many skills that did not need very many or any skills points at all, but starting in the third row, the skills points went from 5 to 10 and then to twenty-five! I internally groaned at how I could not buy any of the cool skills listed. I mean who doesn't want the skill Reforestation, even its description is cool.

"Reforestation: reforestation allows the user to use a considerable amount of MP to grow a forest immediately, speeding the growth process to 1 year each second. Maxing out at 250 years at level 1, the speed and size of the forest growth will grow with the ability level and may evolve under certain conditions."

If only it didn't cost 300 skill points. I asked the index to show me all the different ability types. It reopened to a different page from earlier. The page was almost like a web, it had a center and many paths that branched off. "Could you explain this page please system?" *This is the web of abilities. It is a graph that shows where all ability types come from and to which they are related. The center of the graph is the gifts of the gods, I know not what is in there as I've never seen inside it myself. Surrounding them are the main typing's and around those are abilities that contain portions of the main typing's. In the four corners are Necromancy, Holy, Demonic, and creation.

After the system finished hand feeding information to me, I looked at the web for a minute until my brain started to hurt. "Do you think I could access the god abilities? Doesn't matter I'm going to try anyway." I ask the index to show me the god skills and to filter them and for a second it buffers. The book screen opens and closes rapidly while bugging out. Then there is the sound of a chain breaking and the screen closes and opens once more. This time though it is like that of a galaxy. I begin to look through the abilities and instantly find the ability I'm going to take. I gently reach my hand out and touch the first skill I'd ever buy, Naming. The ability turns a light shade of green and by body flashes once. I hear a light "ting," and I know the ability is mine.

"You see that system, looks like we're going to be named after all." The system does not respond but I feel a sense of hope in myself that I won't automatically die when I turn 16, technically 89, but we won't tell anybody that. I go back to the plant ability page and look at the abilities listed there. The naming ability didn't cost any points, so I still have ten points. I think I want the skills photosynthesis and absorb. Absorb allows me to absorb dead things and replace my MP, while photosynthesis allows me to regain stamina. Those abilities will help me to keep my stamina and magic power up in the event of another fight. Absorb also gives me a small chance to gain skills from whatever I absorb. As long as the sun shines, I won't run out of stamina, and every time I "cough" kill something and absorb it…. Ill gain exp and MP. Might need to rethink the second one, but nevertheless it's a start.

I walk back over to the snake and try to absorb it. When I touch the snake with my fingers, my hand breaks up into vine-like tendrils and wraps around the entirety of the snake's body. After fully encasing the snake, it begins to shrink in size and revert back to normal, "CRUNCH, CRACK!" I know I will not get used to that noise. A little bit of the snake's blood seeps out of the seams of my hand/wrap thing and is slowly soaked up into my skin. I don't like this skill anymore. I thought it would turn into light particles or something, but this is worse. After a few more bone shattering sounds, and I do mean that literally, my hand returns back to normal although it is now slightly red.

Suddenly I don't feel so well. My vision starts getting blurry and I hear ringing sounds in my ears. I become very conscious of my actual breathing and try to brace myself by putting my hands on my knees. I fall down to the ground below me and hear my heart thumping in my ears. *CRITICAL ALERT! HEALTH HAS FALLEN BELOW 10%! You have to use Heal. USE YOUR SKILL HEAL! * I faintly hear the system telling me to do something, but I can't hear the entire sentence. I need to heal myself, but I don't know how to use the ability. I roll over on to my stomach and begin crawling to the sunlight. Curse that snake for dying in the shade. My vision is starting to fade, and I hear the critical alert message over and over again. I continue to crawl and am at the clearing once again. My health has dropped all the way to 2 percent when I reach the edge of the shade. I feel like my phone back at home, always going dead when I am struggling to plug it in. When my first finger touches the sun and I finally finish and fully absorb the snake into my system to regain MP, I use Heal as fast as possible.

I finish crawling into the sun and roll over onto my stomach. I can't believe I almost died, and I wasn't even fighting! * What. Is. Wrong WITH YOU! You almost sat there and died because you were too caught up in your own head and in a rush to absorb that snake when I was trying to tell you to wait! Why get our hopes up about being named if all you're going to do is turn around and make a stupid decision that could've ended us both.

Skill Poison resistance has been acquired

"Not to burst your bubble system but apparently eating that darn snake gave us a skill, not an ability but a skill. I believe congratulations are in order." I put my hands on my hips and do a power pose as I lay in the grass and wait for the systems response. Only the wind blows. I shrug my shoulders and begin to walk back to the clearing where I was born in. Feels weird to think that.

"What's the difference between abilities and skills anyways?" No response. " I really think I'm going to name you shit, bec-" the system interrupts me and I feel a very strong and murderous intent. * Don't you dare try and name me something like that. In this world, there are abilities, skills, titles, and overlords. * I stop in my tracks and start punching in front of me like a boxer. "Overlords? Like I have to beat up someone to take their skill?" I swear to the gods in this realm that if the system were physical, it would strangle me right now. I start to laugh as the system carries on explaining. *Abilities are able to be gained by performing actions or buying them with points. Skills are acquired after certain measures are met, hence you gained poison resistance after surviving being poisoned. Titles, much like skills, are awarded after certain conditions are met except that they give you a boost in stats and come with one ability and sometimes a skill. Overlords are a combination of skills and titles and come with privileges. There is an unknown amount of overlord skills and titles, and those who acquire them tend to be tempted by them as they will affect your mind and soil. Hehehe soil, get it? * I don't find systems joke funny.

Ok so on a power scale, overlord skills are the strongest, and skills are the lowest, while abilities ae separate from the rest. That makes complete sense…Not. Imagine Overlord of death, anything I touch would just shrivel up and die. *What if you touch yourself, won't you shrivel up and die too? * I hate it here, why would system ask something like that anyway. "I'd have resistance of course, duh." I look around the forest again as I walk back to the base, I need to name it as well but that isn't as important as mine and systems.

"System, tell me about yourself, is there anything that makes you unique or something that can give me a hint as to what or who you were?" there's a humming noise and then system responds with a quick no. "Ooooookay. Is there something you identify with, a word or a meaning? Would you like a girl's or a guy's name, would you like one that classifies as both? Are you a warrior, a scholar? What's your star sign? Pink or purple, I need information about you to think of a name that might suit you." *I was a gift to you from the goddess Hebenami, I don't believe I've had another life before this, but I'm still unsure. The color black seems nice, I don't know what a star sign is, and I'm obviously an assistant to you. *
