Author's POV
Irene's eyes widened in shock as she witnessed Nora's body falling down but she recovered quickly and chopped off the remaining 3 people's arms and legs but there was still one person left...the one who killed Nora.
Irene seemed to have lost her mind in rage and started menacingly moving towards the person who killed Nora. The person picked up his sword and was getting ready to fight but as soon as Irene reached near him her expression changed and she looked up towards the wall behind his back and started smiling warmly. "How was my acting?" She asked Nora and Lucien who were standing on the wall. "It was acceptable" Lucien said while getting down from the wall as Nora followed him. Kael appeared from the entrance of the alley. "My clone of Brigitte was also perfect by the way" Lucien said being proud of his work and Nora smiled "yeah it was actually".
So what are we doing with him now?" asked Lucien. "Simple tie him up first and then we can torture the answer out of him"
The person who was now lying on ground with his knees started stuttering "wh-what is going on? Y-You....I killed you and I don't know what you're planning but torture won't work on me" The person Said trying to sound confident but it was clear that he was tensed. "You know what we're going to do with him so why bother saying stuff about torture?" Kael said in his same old tone. "Come on it makes things fun when they get scared hearing the word 'torture'." Irene said with a sinister grin. " You know you scare me sometimes Irene" Nora added with an awkward expression on her face.
"Let's get it over with, we don't have all day for this" Kael said. "Here? Right now?" Irene asked with a little surprised tone. "What? You want to take him back at the bar? We don't have time for that" Kael responded while crossing his arms. "But you could teleport us there you know" Irene added with a pleading tone. "I could but I don't want to right now. It'd cost a lot of energy to teleport so many people at once" Kael said and leaned against the wall waiting for Irene to get started. "Yeah sure, sometimes I wonder why our team even likes him" Irene whispered so only Nora could hear which earned Irene a giggle in response. "I can hear that you know" Kael said with furrowed brows. "Fine I'll get started" Irene said bent down towards the guy who was now tied in the threads Nora created. "Whatever you're planning won't wor-" The person stopped his sentence in between and became unconscious where as Irene just looked dazed with open unblinking eyes as if she was not a living being.
Irene's POV
As soon as I entered the soldier's mind I started hearing all sorts of voices and memories which is what always happens as soon as I enter a person's mind but this person seemed rather disturbed. I don't have time to worry about this person's mental state, I just need to get to the memory of him sneaking in our kingdom and figure out who gave him the information about Brigitte and wants her dead. This person's mind was a mess so it was hard pinpointing it myself so I have no other option but to meet this person's consciousness myself.
The one thing I hate about my power is meeting people's consciousness inside their own mind. "What is this place? What is going on?" I heard his consciousness screaming and sighed. I went towards the person to ask him questions but he started attacking me as soon as he saw me. I doged all the attacks with a bored expression. These people are all the same. "You know you can't really hurt me here, I'm just a figment of my consciousness here so all this is pointless" I said while dodging the attacks with a bored expression. I sighed and said "Enough" And bound that person's consciousness with a rope. Well he can break free any moment he wants since it's his mind but he doesn't know that and he never will. "Now start talking or I'll make you go through your worst nightmares and memories again and again until you lose your mind" I threatened the person with a scary tone which must have worked because he seemed a lot scared than before now. "Who gave you the information about our kingdom and who told you to kill Brigitte? " I asked with an assertive angry tone which didn't seem to work because he stayed silent. "Fine let's do it the hard way then. Let me check your worst memory, we're gonna relive that again and again and again until you're ready to spill" I said while looking through his multiple memories. "No, No please I.... will tell you" He said in fear and panic. I looked at him and gave him an expression of go on.
"It was a week ago, I was told that the war will be declared from our side but it was actually someone from your kingdom who demanded that we declare war on you people. I don't exactly know who it was but it seemed someone in his 20s. He said that he guarantees that we will win your throne and he will provide all the information we need regarding the attacks and plans" He started talking and as I was listening I got bored a little. "And why did he ask you to kill Brigitte?" I asked again with a threatening tone. "I don't know we were just told that if we kill her we will be given more information to infiltrate your kingdom" Sounds reasonable that the person wouldn't reveal themselves to the soldiers so easily but at least we know that the person is in his 20s wait- "you said the person sounded like they were in their 20s so does that mean they met you under some disguise? If so you must have noticed some other things about their appearance isn't that right?" I said looking at him suspiciously but when no response came I kicked him in the stomach. Even though he couldn't feel the pain, I made his mind think he could. "He-he was wearing a badge. It has your kingdom's royal symbol so I think it might be someone from royal family and considering the the level of information they gave it must have been someone in high position" He said and I wasn't surprised at all. These things are pretty normal in kingdoms and wars. If anything I was bored about how cliche all this was turning out to be. "Do you remember anything else?" I asked the person again but they didn't say anything after that and I could tell they weren't lying anymore and since I was inside their brain so I thought it was time to wrap it up. "Also one more thing..... " I looked at the person to hear what they had to say.
Author's POV
As Irene came back to her senses, the person tied up also regained their consciousness so everyone gathered around them expecting an explanation or answers about what happened. "So did you get anything?" Nora was the first one to ask and everyone looked at Irene expecting an answer. "Well I'm afraid it was nothing much. I just found out that it was a royal family member most likely someone in high position based on how detailed their knowledge was. I couldn't figure out who exactly because when they met these people they were disguised. And the Only clue we have is that the person is most likely to be in their 20s" Irene explained and Nora's eyes widened with each word. "Does it sound like someone you know?" Kael asked in a serious tone. "I do but it all seems too suspicious, too easy and too perfect for it to be that person" Nora replied while being in a deep thought.
"Why? who do you think it is?" Lucien asked not having a clue.
"My brother Elias" Nora said shocking Lucien.
"Your brother?" Lucien asked flabbergasted
"Well Brigitte's brother to be exact but it's not him. Someone from the royal family would be too careful to carry around a badge with royal symbol but that person was not only carrying it around but he also showed the soldiers the badge despite there being risk of the soldiers getting caught" Nora said still in deep thought
"So that means...." Irene said looking at Nora in a suggestive way.
"Someone is trying to frame Elias for treason and trying to kill me"
Lucien's eyes widened again. "Really?"
"Man this couldn't get any more Cliche" Irene said in a bored tone.
"So what you planning to do?" Asked Kael.
"Nothing"
