Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Testing the Capabilities

When Benimaru finished his demonstration, the five cyborgs did what they wanted, since Benimaru did not issue any commands. Iozan continued napping to preserve his energy. Meanwhile, Mufasa and Rengar roared at each other, testing who had the loudest roar between the two. In contrast, Mirko was the opposite of Iozan; she was so hyper that she jumped up and down in the room. At the same time, Winston picked up a book and started reading. It didn't take long before Mufasa and Rengar became angry with each other, swiping their claws as they both tried to assert their dominance over the other four cyborgs, similar to the dynamics between Sanji and Zoro.

"Come on, stop that. You are brothers," Benimaru then calmed both fighters, who were acting like little kids. Despite their ferocity, Benimaru could pacify them since they respected him deeply, ingrained in their very being.

"Hihihihihi, you got scolded," Mirko laughed at Mufasa and Rengar, which embarrassed the two.

"This is your fault, dumbass," Rengar blamed Mufasa.

"What? You're the one who started it," Mufasa retorted.

Before they could argue further, Winston put down the book he was reading and sighed. He then woke up Iozan to separate the two, knowing that as alphas, they would always fight—it being part of their nature. Iozan, waking up at Winston's prompting, stood up and walked toward Rengar, lifting him off the ground while Winston separated Mufasa. The Revolutionaries watched the scene, amused by the genuine emotions displayed by the five cyborgs.

"See, they're just normal beings that have free will, but that would change if you order them," Benimaru said.

"Cyborgs, I'll give the second-highest authority to Monkey D. Dragon. You will follow his plan and assist him in any way possible without compromising your safety. Is that understood?" Benimaru suddenly shouted, gaining the attention of the five, who were still chaotic as Rengar and Mufasa tried to reach each other. Upon hearing Benimaru's order, they fell silent, their minds registering the command and giving priority to Dragon's authority. This meant that he could now issue orders as long as he didn't contradict Benimaru's commands.

"This is my contribution to your fight. If you train them and hone all their capabilities, I assure you that they will be the best soldiers you will ever have to fight against the Celestials," Benimaru said to Dragon, also contemplating how to harm the God's Knight in a way that would cancel their regeneration; it was something he was eager to discover.

"What do you desire to do with your life? Not just because it was ordered by Benimaru, but what you truly want to do freely and what you wish to become. You can answer in order, starting with you, Mirko." Dragon approached and asked the five cyborgs one question.

"Mirko just wants to jump freely and kick evil faces. That's all I want," Mirko answered, offering an innocent smile to Dragon.

"I just want to sleep, but I want to protect my siblings and keep them safe," Iozan answered groggily, his tone reflecting conviction despite his sleepiness.

"I want to study the truth of the world and recreate the technology of the past," Winston replied.

"I want to become the strongest being in the world," both Rengar and Mufasa declared simultaneously, causing them to scowl at each other.

Dragon then nodded and looked at the other members of the Revolutionaries—from Kuma, who nodded at Dragon, indicating that he gave him his blessing to accept them as members of the Revolutionaries, to Ginny, who also nodded the same as Kuma, while Ivankov took a moment before nodding toward Dragon—as all of his commanders agreed.

"Welcome to the Revolutionaries. Before fighting, you five will undergo special training, as you still don't know much, considering you are all young and relying on your instincts to fight," Dragon said to the five. Winston just nodded seriously, while Mirko, Rengar, and Mufasa smiled, excited by the prospect of getting stronger and fighting stronger opponents, while Iozan just had a tired expression.

Benimaru then encouraged Dragon to test their capabilities, as Benimaru wanted to see their current maximum capacity against Dragon. He also wanted to estimate Dragon's strength, as he was sure that, despite being physically stronger, Dragon would win if they fought. He didn't know how, but it was in his instincts—something Benimaru completely trusted.

Dragon then started, taking off the green coat he was wearing, and slowly walked toward the five. The first attack came from Rengar and Mufasa, as both of them slashed toward Dragon, leaving claw marks on the ground. This reminded Benimaru to activate his Devil Fruit to amplify the hardness and durability of the entire room. Meanwhile, Dragon dodged and attacked, using a series of moves that made Rengar and Mufasa fall. Then the other three joined in. It did not take long before the five were defeated.

As Benimaru watched the whole thing, he concluded that Dragon is a master of his own pace and speed. Despite all of them showcasing superior strength and speed, Dragon always managed to use it against them. At one point, Dragon used the momentum of Mirko's kick to attack Winston.

Now I know why my instincts said that I would lose. He is a more experienced combatant than I am. While I rely on brute force—something useful for pirates—it's not as effective against the structured martial arts of Dragon, considering he invented a move called Ryusoken, Benimaru thought, admiring Dragon's strength. Meanwhile, the five cyborgs had already recovered and wore expressions of admiration on their faces.

"You must teach me that move," Benimaru suddenly blurted out, and Dragon just looked at him.

"That can be the payment, per se, for the five and for this," Benimaru said, as he added the fear gas to his offerings. He also included the blueprint and the exact mixture on how to create the fear gas, so they would not need to rely on Benimaru to produce it. He also included the antidote.

"This is called fear gas. It induces involuntary and sometimes irrational fear in its victims' minds, causing them to collapse. You could dilute the process and make it so that the enemies would only be affected in their spirits, making them unable to move due to fear," Benimaru explained the process, as he used one fear gas to expose all of them.

"This is also great training for willpower," Benimaru stated, as it did not work on him due to the effect of Essence of Self, making him invulnerable to mental attacks and influence. Dragon immediately dispelled it due to his strong Conqueror's Haki. Kuma was affected the most, as he could see his worst fears: Saint Jaygarcia, the man who had tortured him before. Ginny also experienced visions, seeing Saint Saturn repeatedly killing all of her friends and making their heads explode while she stood bound to an immovable wall. The scene kept repeating as Kuma did everything he could to free himself, but to no avail.

Benimaru was about to inject Kuma with the antidote until he was interrupted by a sudden burst of lightning from Kuma. It was an advanced form of Armament Haki, indicating that his willpower had climbed over the hurdle, making it stronger than before. It also became new fuel for his Haki, which continued to grow until Kuma woke up from the illusion of the fear gas. Ginny and Ivankov also achieved this breakthrough, as each of them faced and overcame their fears, while the five cyborgs were not affected, as they were away from the group.

"Sorry, guys," Benimaru said, having tested the fear gas without even asking first.
