Chapter 25 - Price

Without exaggeration, Carlotta can be considered an authority when it comes to understanding the Elven Knight Path.

Although she is only a second-level apprentice and has only mastered the Elven Phantom Sound level of Elven Knight Path, she has learned many details about them through intelligence.

Her proficiency is definitely not something that someone of a similar level could match.

Watching Camella charge at her with her sword, Carlotta immediately spotted dozens of openings, each of which was enough to quickly defeat Camella.

She gripped the Rose Thorn and thrust it forward, seemingly slow but actually fast.

"Clang!"

With a crisp clashing sound, the Rose Thorn collided fiercely with the sword in Camella's hand. However, due to the angle and point of force Carlotta chose, she felt almost no vibration.

On the contrary, Camella felt a violent tremor transmitted through her hand, causing severe pain in her palm, almost making her lose grip of her sword.

She hastily took a step back, then unleashed the Elven Butterfly Dance along with the Elven Phantom Sound.

The chaotic sword shadows enveloped Carlotta, with the sound of slicing air one after another, trying to confuse Carlotta about where the real attack was coming from.

But in fact, such an attack was full of openings in Carlotta's eyes.

The techniques meant to confuse others' vision couldn't deceive her due to skills to her understanding of Elven Knight. She knew exactly which angle the real attack was coming from.

So dealing with it was simple.

Carlotta flicked her sword, and the Rose Thorn collided with Camella's sword again, producing an extremely crisp sound.

This time, Camella finally couldn't hold onto her sword. Under the intense collision, the sword in her hand was knocked away, spinning several times in the air before falling to the ground with a thud.

Carlotta quickly raised her hand and placed the Rose Thorn on Camella's shoulder.

"Miss Ackerman, it seems I've won, right?" Carlotta said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Camella's face turned pale and then red.

She had no idea how she had lost. Facing Carlotta, she felt as if she were facing the elders of her family. None of her attacks worked; they were all easily countered.

But this Carlotta White was only a second-tier apprentice.

Why was this?

Camella couldn't understand, she simply couldn't.

The others around also looked at the scene in astonishment, completely not expecting the result to be like this.

Even Avery, who thought Carlotta might not lose, didn't expect Carlotta to win so decisively. It didn't seem like a fight between two people of the same level.

"Miss Ackerman, do you accept the outcome of the bet?" Carlotta asked again.

Camella's face was full of unwillingness. Although she found it hard to accept the fact that she had been defeated, she ultimately chose not to renege.

She took two steps back, raised her hand, took off the necklace around her neck, and threw it directly to Carlotta.

"This Rose Cross is yours now, hmph."

After saying this, Camella left the dueling arena with a look of indignation.

Carlotta didn't care about Camella's feelings.

She went quickly to pick up the sword that had been knocked away earlier and brought it close to the necklace in her hand.

Then the sword quickly shrank and automatically attached to the necklace, forming a small cross sword.

This was the alchemical item, the Rose Cross!

Carlotta didn't know which was better, the Rose Cross or the Rose Thorn, but it didn't matter. She could just use them alternately. Who would complain about having too many alchemical items?

Except for the alchemy master, Mrs. Thea Ashfield.

After witnessing the result, the people around the dueling arena also left one by one.

Carlotta packed up her weapons and happily came to Avery's side, saying with a smile, "I suddenly look forward to duels with stakes. It's a special way to make money."

Avery couldn't help but say, "The premise is that you can keep winning."

Carlotta shrugged, thinking this wasn't a problem. Duels should only take place between people of the same level. If they were of the same level, who would she be afraid of?

Of course, people with an initially high level, whose combat experience and vision had already reached a very high level, even if their level was suppressed to the second level, Carlotta might not be a match for them.

But generally, such people wouldn't have the nerve to challenge Carlotta to a duel. Those who could challenge her wouldn't be much higher in level, and their combat experience wouldn't be significantly better, so she could naturally handle them.

"By the way," Carlotta seemed to think of something and asked Avery, "Miss Clarke, could you tell me how much this Rose Cross is worth in Orrae?"

As the daughter of a merchant, Avery naturally had a keen eye. Although Carlotta was also the daughter of a merchant, her former self hadn't mastered the various skills of a merchant, so she was obviously not as good as Avery in this aspect.

Avery just switched at it and made a judgment: "If I were to buy it, I would offer ten thousand Orrae. If I were to sell it, I would price it at fifteen thousand Orrae, leaving room for bargaining. The normal transaction price would probably be between twelve to thirteen thousand Orrae."

Carlotta was a bit surprised to hear this, not expecting the Rose Cross to be so valuable.

She picked up the Rose Thorn and asked, "What about this?"

Avery quickly estimated and said, "The normal transaction price would probably be around five to six thousand."

"Why is there such a big difference? Aren't they both alchemical items?" Carlotta couldn't help but ask.

Avery smiled and said, "There are differences between alchemical items. Your rapier, Miss White, has just stepped into the threshold of alchemical items and is very ordinary. The Rose Cross, on the other hand, is considered a high-quality alchemical item."

Carlotta suddenly understood.

It seemed that she should use the Rose Cross as her main weapon from now on. As for the Rose Thorn, she could sell it when she needed money.

The Rose Cross was also very convenient to carry. Carlotta put the necklace around her neck, pulled the small sword down to its normal size, and then attached it back to the necklace, repeating this several times with great interest.

When she arrived outside the dueling arena, Carlotta found that the duel between Amelia and Beatrice had already ended, with Amelia emerging victorious.

She noticed that Camella, who had just lost the duel to her, was now next to Amelia, talking to her with sparkling eyes.

"Huh? Miss Clarke, are Miss Ackerman and Miss Fenwick from the same faction?" Carlotta asked upon seeing this.

"That's right," Avery nodded.

Carlotta couldn't help but feel a bit puzzled.
