Chapter 38 - Might Is Right

(MC POV)

"This..." Mayene looked at me with shock as she held her head in what I might call denial.

"How? When did this happen?" Sect master Nuwa asked, looking at Yuri. I blocked her view of Yuri as I spoke.

"I rescued her from the dark sect when I went for a bandit eradication quest, and that was why I went to Tang city to save her. on my way back, I adopted my daughters, and they took Yuri as their mother. I never said anything about this since I never thought that I would be suddenly engaged," I explained.

"Is that why you have been stalling?" Bai Qi asked as he came closer to me. "This issue is not even an issue; she can be a nanny to them or their mother, but the children that my daughters would give you will be your real children, so I don't think you would need those ... Twins of yours, is that not right, master Zen?"

staring at him, I slowly used my gravity magic to slightly increase the force of gravity in the hall; of course, I protected Yuri from it. Slowly, everyone in the hall started finding it difficult to stand or even sit, as their weight kept increasing, and even the furniture started creaking and broke.

"It seems we have some misunderstanding here, master Bai Qi," I slowly said, looking at him. "I am the one that is choosing your daughters to marry, and you are supposed to support my choice and give us your blessing, and now that I said that I cannot marry them, you are to accept my proposal and leave me alone. that is how these things usually work... Thank you." Taking the tea that Yuri handed me with a smile, I drank it and focused back on the man that was now almost kneeling.

"Master Bai Qi, the mistake you made was bringing my daughters into this; I would have still gone along with your little play, but as Yuri said before, my girls would be awake by now."

I fucked up. even though I had my back to them as I left the hall, I knew that I had somehow opened up a can of worms that would haunt me forever, starting from now.

Look, I am not a very patient man; the only reason why I went along with all of this was so as to not create a rift between my sect and the Pink petals sect, and now the Heavenly Dao sect had been added into the picture. I and the sect master have a long talk when I get back, and mother too.

"What if I want to be your concubine?" I don't know if it was Mayene or Shangguan that spoke, but I responded with. "No"

"Then why don't you stay here till you change your mind?"

The road leading to the gates was suddenly blocked by a wall of fire as Bai Qi flew towards me with a sword.

"Master Zen seems not to be understanding the situation that he is in and does not even know what kind of person he is to us!"

Letting out a wind blade with his sword, I raised a water bubble around me and Yuri, creating a hexagonal pattern with the water so that if one section breaks, it does not affect the whole integrity of the bubble.

"Then can you at least tell me what my worth is to you people? aside from not wanting to marry your daughters, I am also suspicious about your motives."

I needed answers now that he let something like that out. What does he mean that I have no understanding about what kind of person I am to them?

I also don't have time for this. I made a space fissure the size of a grain of rice and placed it in front of me, absorbing every attack that came my way.

"How?" He asked in disbelief, but I don't really care about his wounded ego.

"Why are you so hell-bent on making me your son-in-law? It does not make sense," I said, walking towards him as he let different techniques and magic. "It won't hurt if you give me a hint right... And I can spare your life." I used my space and wind magic to send the last sentence directly to his ear... I am sorry, but sometimes I just can't stand these practitioners.

JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE STRONG AND POWERFUL AND FROM A BIG SECT BACKED BY THE KINGDOM DOES NOT MEAN EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND YOU.

You know what? Fuck it.

Using my space techniques, I teleported me and Bai Qi to another location. I had, of course, sent Yuri back to the village to be protected by the elders of the sect; she is a smart woman, so she would know what to tell them when she gets there.

"Space magic?" Hearing his confused and scared voice, I knew that he suddenly realised that he had touched the tail of the cat... I mean tiger.

"You have seen Heaven!?" He screamed as he suddenly created a wall of flames, pushing it towards me.

Creating a wind blade, I sliced it into two as I saw him flying away at top speed in between the now two walls of fire.

Of course I can't let him escape.

Using my space magic, I teleported in front of him and created a free space around us using some space techniques, preventing him from flying and accessing the elemental energy around him. of course this free space is like a place where the gravity is flipped on its head, so even if he is able to fly, there is a possibility that he would plummet down to the ground, like a rock.

"Great one, please forgive me!" He yelled as he floated uncontrollably, trying to find his bearings.

This is what I hate about these practitioners; this was what made me who I was in the Heavenly realm. They act all high and mighty, and even when you try to give them some space to atone for their mistakes, they would perceive it as being weak and timid and harass you even more.

Why did I even try to negotiate with them and try to reason with them in the first place? in this place, might is right! The one with the biggest fist sometimes is not the strongest, but the one with the biggest body and scars is the most dangerous.

I should have just done this a long time ago. I keep forgetting that I am actually the strongest in this place, especially with the fact that I can control space, time, gravity and even blood. why do I keep trying to appear weak and amicable?

I just want an easy life...

"I will let you go on account of our sect's history together, and don't think about doing something stupid," I warned as I removed the free space, and he quickly caught himself from falling.

"Thank you, master Zen, thank you." He kowtowed, looking at me with fear.

He is not accepting my victory over him.

Let's make sure that we kill any thought of rebellion.

I walked over to him, and, creating a nick on my finger and squeezing a small amount of blood, I made a rune on his forehead.

"What... What are you doing?" He struggled to move, as I had trapped him with vines.

"Making sure that you won't cause me any trouble in the future, this rune will make sure that any time you have any ill intentions against me and try to act on it, your head will be the first thing to go." Finishing my rune, I stepped back to admire my handiwork.

"Tell the sect master that I am not going to agree to the engagement, and if I hear news about this..."

Leaving those words, I used my space magic and returned to my room in the inn that the sect rented for the elders and the disciples.

"Papa!" Linda was the first person to notice me as she jumped in for a hug.

"Is everything okay?" Yuri asked worriedly as she came to hug me, shivering. I looked at Chuyan who looked extremely pale, as she clenched her fists so hard that I could see blood dripping

"I am fine; let's just get ready for the sect exchange festival." I patted their heads as Lynda helped Chuyan with her injury.

It seems I have been too relaxed and not active, so some people believe they can walk over me. I want an easy life, but if these people keep doing things that would affect it, then I might as well make sure they won't get the chance.
