Mister Anderson heard from a maid that a vampire had arrived. He was shocked because he did not expect it and wanted to confirm if it was truly a vampire.
And what he came to find was true.
He could think of only one reason why a vampire would pay the Andersons a visit.
Mister Anderson glanced at his sons and daughters, but his gaze stayed on Lilah the longest, and a slight frown played on his face.
Why was she soaked from head to toe? And... He looked at Dawn who acted like a used rag on the floor, having a crazy expression on her face, unlike the innocence she usually displayed.
Just what had happened while he was away for an hour?
In any case, there was something more important he needed to take care of.
"I understand you might've come on urgent orders from your Lord but would you mind putting it off for a few minutes? It seems something must've happened for my daughter to be drenched in champagne, so at least allow her to get out of those soaked clothes. I fear she might catch a cold."
The emissary took a moment and then smiled.
"Of course. I have time. I will wait. Forgive my intrusion."
"It's not a problem." Mister Anderson said and then spread his hand out for him to go through the exit. "Then, please follow me. I will serve you tea and have a chat with you while my daughter gets changed." Her father said and Lilah wondered if her father had the mind to sell her off to the vampires for profit, just like the original.
Her brothers might've not done it or revealed their true intentions but maybe it was because the end game was her father all along.
Then, did she ruin things for them? Would her father rat her out that she had told a lie? Would he get mad at her and once again look at her with the eyes of disdain?
She was getting anxious.
"Lilah," Patrick called, and she tilted her head a bit. "I'll take you to your room."
Lilah might've avoided the fate of being dragged away against her will from the party but it wasn't over yet. She could still be dragged out any moment for lying so she couldn't feel relieved just yet.
"Yes, brother." She said, and he held her hand, helping her walk slowly so as not to inconvenience her condition.
Harry looked down at Dawn and clicked his tongue, which echoed in the hall that only had the sounds of their footsteps.
"I don't even know who you are anymore." He said, causing Dawn's pupils to shrink in horror. "Are you even my sister? Or are you an imposter? Well, I've seen enough to not go easy on you."
"W-wait, brother, what... What are you saying?" She began to plead as if her life was on the line? "It's me, Dawn. I..."
"The Dawn I remember is a sweet, reasonable and understanding girl. But you..." His eyebrows knitted together and he glared at her. "You're nothing but a ridiculously selfish and crazy bitch."
The words stabbed Dawn in her heart and struck her with immense disbelief.
How could her once-loving brother call her that? She... She was Dawn. She was the one they loved with all their heart. She...
Her eyes immediately darted towards Lilah who was slowly walking away with Patrick's help. Her eyes burned with rage and hatred.
"It's all her fault!" She yelled but as soon as she did, Harry sent her flying with a fierce slap across her cheek, having the look of someone who wanted to commit murder.
Lilah heard this sound and turned her head a bit, equally in shock that Harry would go as far as slapping Dawn.
"It's alright, Sis," Patrick said. "You don't have to worry about what's going on behind us."
It wasn't like she could see what was going on anyway. She could only tell from the sound of things.
"How was it ever her fault?" Harry asked, while Dawn still her eyes shrunk in disbelief. "I know what you've been doing in this mansion, Dawn. I know how you've been treating Lilah while acting so pure and innocent in front of us and in front of her."
Lilah was surprised. So, they wound out all of that? Was that why they suddenly changed? Was this really not an act?
Seeing as how her brother could go as far as slapping Dawn, then all this... This was no longer an act, right?
She could hope that they would protect her just like they promised.
She felt her eyes tearing up.
But of course, they could never protect her from the vampires. The only way was to... Was to get the Lycan king on her side.
Dawn was left there with her throbbing cheek. This... was a nightmare. It had to be. There was no other way.
Her brothers, her loving and caring brothers who only loved, adored, and pampered her, would never do this to her. No, they could never. So, this was definitely a nightmare.
She began to laugh, the nuts in her head going loose, and she began to lose her mind, dancing in a fantasy that did not exist.
Up in Lilah's room, Patrick made sure the maids took care of her carefully while he waited outside.
To think the maids who were assigned to take care of Lilah had all been on Dawn's side and had been bullying Lilah.
He knew they neglected her but at least they gave her maids to help her with things she could not do by herself. But even then, thanks to Dawn, they never did anything for her and even scarred her leg.
Just thinking about it made him angry.
"How is she?" Harry asked after returning from his father.
"She should be about done." He said, and then the doors opened, and the maids all made their way out. "She's done,"
They entered the room and found Dawn sitting on the bed in a light-colored dress and her head down, her hair lightly falling over her shoulders as she did not intend to pack it.
"Brother?" She called as she heard their footsteps and raised her head.
"Dawn, do you feel cold?" Harry asked, concerned.
"Are your hands okay?" Patrick asked, also concerned but she shook her head.
"No, I don't feel cold and..." She showed her bandaged hands. "I don't feel any pain but the maids took care of it, I think."
They were relieved but were not happy with the wound in her hand.
The atmosphere turned silent but tensed and Lilah felt this was the moment she needed to own up to her words.
"Brother, I'm sorry I lied." She said.
"I'm not mad at you for lying, Lilah." Harry said.
"Yeah, me too. I'm not mad at you, Sis." Patrick said but she couldn't understand why. She had lied and it was such a big lie. "It was the only way you could think of, right? I'm sorry, I couldn't think of something similar to help you out."
"Me too." Harry said and looked towards the window. "I'm just worried. To think you would drag the werewolves into this. How are we going to explain this?"
Lilah bowed her head. Just as she thought. She made too big of an issue with that lie.
"But I will find a way," Harry suddenly said and she raised her head. "If it's for you, if it's to protect you, I will find a way so that those filthy vampires can not lay a finger on you. I promise."
