Chapter 9 - "Freight Train Fury."

-----

-----

Gwen didn't even have time to keep being shocked by Venom's crazy strength.

Her spider-sense suddenly went off again.

"Crap. No time!"

But the enemy was just too fast. Even with her spider-sense, Gwen couldn't dodge in time.

All she could do was cross her arms in front of her chest and brace for impact.

Boom!

The next second, Gwen felt like she'd been hit by a freight train.

Even someone as strong as her couldn't avoid being blasted backwards.

Peter, showing zero mercy, unleashed a terrifying punch that sent Gwen flying. Then, in classic villain style, he let out an evil laugh:

"Keh keh keh…"

"Ugh, who even came up with that laugh for villains? It's disgusting…"

Realizing how cringe he sounded, Peter quickly shut himself up like he'd just embarrassed himself in public.

Bang!

Then he bent his legs, launching himself like a cannonball straight after Gwen.

"Hello, is… is this the police? I… I need to report something."

"Two Spider-Men are fighting! No, I'm not joking. I saw it with my own eyes!"

Back in the alley, the woman who'd just been mugged finally stood up, shaking all over. She fumbled for her phone and called the cops.

Earlier, she'd been too terrified to even make a sound—worried that crazy laughing freak would notice her.

Boom!

In the street that separated the rich from the regular folks, a figure came flying out of an alley at high speed.

They smashed into the side of an office building a few dozen meters away before finally stopping.

The impact was so powerful, it left a huge crater in the wall.

"Ugh… that hurts."

Gwen groaned. She had never been hurt this badly in her entire life.

As a girl, she'd always been pretty tough, but this was on a whole new level.

Becoming Spider-Woman had made her way stronger than normal people—but now, she'd taken more damage than ever before.

"Damn it. That guy's coming again."

It took everything she had to endure the pain and drag herself out of the wall she'd been slammed into.

But Gwen didn't even get a second to breathe before a familiar figure charged at her again from the alley.

And this time, she was the target.

Luckily, Gwen was ready. Thanks to her agility, she managed to clumsily tumble a few times along the wall and just barely dodge the center of the attack.

BOOM!

The next moment, Peter's terrifying blow landed right where she'd been just seconds ago.

A deafening explosion ripped through the air, like a missile had just hit.

The impact was so powerful it shook the entire office building, making it feel like an earthquake just struck.

Cracks split the wall at the point of impact and rapidly spread outward like a spiderweb.

A massive invisible shockwave blasted out, shattering nearly every glass pane on the building.

And Gwen, who was still nearby, got flung through the air like a ragdoll, soaring dozens of meters before crashing down.

Just as she was about to slam into the street, a web shot out from her wrist, slowing her descent.

Using the momentum from the blast, she swung away like she was on a giant invisible swing.

"Heh, you're not the only one who can use webs, y'know."

Watching Gwen trying to escape, Peter didn't even think about giving up. He fired a webline from his own web-shooter and launched himself into the air.

Just like Gwen, he swung between the buildings using the web's force.

After arriving in this world, Peter had already made some preparations for becoming Spider-Man.

That included the Spider-suit he was wearing now—and the web-shooters too.

At this point, even though he wasn't really Spider-Man, his enhanced strength and agility made him pretty much indistinguishable from the real thing.

"Well… okay, not entirely like the real Spider-Man yet."

But that confidence didn't last long.

After all, this was his first time actually using the web-shooters to "cosplay" as Spider-Man.

So yeah, he wasn't exactly a pro at it yet—and that made sense.

At least, that's how Peter comforted himself as he chased Gwen across multiple streets and failed to catch up—in fact, she was pulling farther and farther ahead.

"But hey… don't forget—I'm supposed to be a villain now. And every self-righteous hero has one fatal flaw."

Watching Gwen get further away, Peter decided to lean into the role of the bad guy.

He dropped down from the rooftops, landing on the street. Then he casually walked over to a parked car, punched through the window, grabbed the A-pillar with one hand, and—with Gwen still swinging in mid-air—hurled the entire vehicle straight at her.

"Heh, this guy's got strength, sure, but he seriously lacks Spider-Man experience."

Gwen was finally starting to feel a bit relieved. She was gaining distance, and for the first time, she even felt a little pleased with herself.

"Again?"

Her spider-sense kicked in hard, and she instinctively jerked her body to the side in mid-air using her web.

WHOOSH!

A split-second later, a car came screaming past her—so close it nearly shaved her shoulder.

It smashed into a building nearby, but thankfully didn't explode like in the movies.

"That guy is seriously trying to kill me…"

Still shaken, Gwen glanced back—just in time to see the lunatic who called himself "Venom" lifting another car and chucking it at her.

This time, though, there was a terrified middle-aged man still in the driver's seat, screaming like crazy.

WHOOSH!

Another car sliced through the air.

But this time, Gwen couldn't just dodge it like before. Her sense of responsibility as Spider-Woman wouldn't let her abandon an innocent person in danger.

First, she used her webs to launch herself upward, her graceful body flipping and twisting as she narrowly dodged the car's direct hit.

Then, in the split second she was above the vehicle, she fired several webs and latched onto the car.

With a sharp pull—and with a lot of strength—she managed to redirect its momentum. Even after several of the web-lines snapped under the tension, she finally slowed the car enough to stop it from crashing full force.

"There. That window."

Gwen spotted one unlit window in a nearby high-rise building.

Using her webs, she swung the car gently toward it.

CRASH—

Glass shattered as the car crashed right through the window and into the room beyond.

"Uh… hi?"

The driver, still shaken, looked around awkwardly at the couple in bed, who had jumped and scrambled under the covers in sheer terror.

"F-Forgive me… sorry, I didn't mean to—!"

"F**k, man! What the hell kind of driving is that?! This is the damn eighth floor!!"

The half-naked man was yelling at the driver, who was now wedged halfway through the broken window, completely stuck and unable to open the car door.

"....."
