Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14

The sun hadn't risen yet.

Xyrus was still draped in twilight, and the world outside my window moved in hushed tones. Leaves rustled faintly against the glass. A lamppost hummed as it dimmed for morning.

Today was the the day, the day I would begin my adventure in this world. But first it's gacha time. Jörmi was launging on my lap, as I willed the gacha to roll the spins. And the results blinked into the existence one by one.

1. The Punisher (Marvel)

(Congratulations! You've pulled the only man who makes Batman look like a guidance counselor.)

---

2. Utility Belt (Batman)

(Now you too can be mysterious, brooding, and over-prepared for literally everything — except therapy.)

---

3. Gamer's Mind (The Gamer)

(You have achieved Zen. Or maybe you're just dead inside. Hard to tell.)

---

4. Senzu Bean (DBZ)

(A single bean, capable of restoring life, energy, and questionable decisions. Warning: not refillable. Chew responsibly.)

---

5. Ayanokoji Kiyotaka (Classroom of the elite)

(Emotionless strategist unlocked. Comes with built-in manipulation engine and a facial expression range of 'deadpan' to 'mildly disappointed.)

---

6. Nokia 3310

(Indestructible. Unstoppable. This brick of legend can be used to make calls, break bones, and survive apocalypses. Battery life: eternal)

---

7. Invisibility Cloak (Harry Potter)

(Become unseen. Dodge danger, social interaction, and the lunch line. Not responsible for accidental eavesdropping.)

---

8. Batcave (DC)

(Because therapy is expensive and caves are free.)

---

9. Night Vision Goggles

(See in total darkness. Spot enemies, traps, or your roommate stealing your snacks at 2AM. Tactical fashion not guaranteed.)

---

10. Package:Ghost (Call of Duty)

(Welcome to edgy operator mode. Skull mask included. Comes with stealth gear, suppressed weapons, and an emotional support combat knife.)

---

Since when does Gacha have this much sass.

Anyways, this month's gacha didn't gave me something OP, well atleast they are useful.Punisher and ghost are both soldiers and Ayanokoji...well he is 'perfect'. Will I also become 'perfect' after assimilating him?

Utility belt is literally useless for me but Gamer 's mind is a pretty good skill,it can seve me from the mages who use illusion magic. My poker face will be perfect. And senzu bean can be used in emergency, of course not for me after all...

I Am the Strongest.

Just kidding. But this invisibility cloak is interesting, can it also hide my mana signature, that would be great. I'll have to test it.

I just realised something, this gacha just gave me the things which I need to become an adventurer. Like batcave for my personal hideout. Does this mean gacha will always give me thing which I need?

Hmmm... Intresting.

And one more thing I have noticed is that I am not getting any magical characters, I wonder why? The only mage I got was Joohee and well... accelerator if you consider him magical.

Anyways,Time to test the invisibility cloak.

I slipped the cloak over my shoulders, feeling its cool fabric slide like liquid over my skin. The world blurred and dimmed at the edges. My body faded into near invisibility — but then I concentrated, summoning a thin tendril of mana.

A subtle shimmer. My mana signature was still there, faint but visible. Not fully hidden.

I frowned.

"Almost," I muttered.

Adjusting the cloak, I twisted, focusing harder — and slowly, that shimmer dimmed, fading into the background noise of the world's ambient mana.

That was better.

I pulled back the cloak, a satisfied grin forming. This wasn't just any invisibility — it masked my magical presence enough to let me move unseen by anyone tracking mana.

Perfect.

I'll have to wait for spider man to finish assimilation first, then I will put Ayanokoji and then Punisher. It is a shame that I didn't get an extra assimilation slot , that would have been helpful.

Now the real question.

What next?

Kael tapped the corner of the character sheet interface (mentally), watching it flicker away like mist. Jörmi hissed lightly, curling tighter on his lap as if sensing the tension coiling in Kael's chest.

Becoming an Adventurer.

But first I need to prepare,I need to make a core like a regular person and a storage ring so that people won't question where I keep my things.

So I went to the market and bought the cheapest storage ring available. Next thing on the list is to create a mana core, now how should I do it, maybe I can create a temporary core and then destroy it or maybe keep it for future use.

Let's see, I concentrated on my mana and gently started to mold it into a round shape whose size was of a tennis ball. After fifteen minutes of doing this I finally succeeded. I can even change its colour as per my will.

Huh...that was easy, I thought it would take atleast hours. Guess Joohee is talented with mana more than I thought or maybe it is me who is talented.

I opened the ghost Package and put on his clothes directly through the inventory.

I looked down at himself.

Black tactical gear. Ghost's gear. Fitted perfectly, built for stealth and precision. The skull-patterned mask covered his face, turning him into something else—something not to be noticed, not to be approached. And a voice changer.

"From now on," he said quietly, "I'm not Kael in the field."

He stared at his reflection in the dark window.

"I'm Ghost."

---

[Third Person POV]

Xyrus Guild Hall

The Guild Hall was still grand, but not yet as crowded as the future Kael remembered from the books. Fewer adventurers. Fewer threats. But still enough chatter, enough danger, to warrant action.

The moment he stepped inside, silence spread like a ripple.

Ghost walked in.

Full black armor. Skull mask. No expression. A walking unknown.

Some adventurers reached for weapons. Others just watched, uncertain whether to laugh or prepare for violence.

He moved past them like a shadow.

To the reception desk.

The clerk, younger than most, looked up with a shaky smile. "Here for the Adventurer Registration?"

"Yes" He replied.

"Uh... name?" She asked hesitantly.

Kael's voice was calm, low.

"Ghost."

A pause. She blinked. "...Is that the name?"

"Yes."

She nodded slowly, already scribbling it down.

"Mana core stage." She asked professionally.

"Solid Orange." Ghost answered.

She cleared her throat. "Written exam first. Then combat simulation. Follow the signs."

---

Assessment Hall – Written Exam

Ghost sat in full tactical gear at the far edge of the room, arms crossed until the exam began.

Peter's intellect hummed in his mind. Gamer's Mind kept him unnaturally calm. He read the questions once and never looked twice.

It was too easy.

Even five years before canon, Xyrus's test protocols hadn't changed much — just crude enough that someone with real-world combat experience and strategic thought could ace them without effort.

The written part of the examination was not shown in the manhwa, if I remember correctly. Ghost thought.

He finished before anyone else.

Not because he was rushing. But because his mind refused to waste time.

---

Guild Combat Arena – Evaluation Grounds

"He's wearing armor, not robes."

"No visible weapons. Storage ring, maybe."

"And that mask…"

Stone tiles. Cold air. Watching eyes.

Ghost stepped onto the dueling platform. His tactical armour billowing slightly as he walked, the skull mask turning heads and drawing whispers.

"No artifacts. Fight with all you got," called the examiner.

His opponent was George— a seasoned adventurer, clad in light combat gear, holding a simple longsword. His mana stirred gently around him — subtle but present. He was clearly a swordmaster who reinforced his body with mana rather than relying on flashy spells.

Ghost drew his sword — yoriichi's sword perfectly maintained. Mana coursed subtly beneath his skin, strengthening muscles and sharpening reflexes.

"Begin!"

---

George lunged, his blade a silver blur.

Ghost sidestepped effortlessly — his footwork minimal, controlled. Observation Haki flared in his senses, giving him a perfect reading of her movements. He didn't block. He preempted. He simulated George in his mind and was predicting his moves, effortlessly.

His (George) next swing — a feint — shifted mid-air.

Ghost's blade moved in the exact instant his weight changed.

CLANG!

A powerful clash — both blades held firm, but Ghost's position was more efficient. He twisted his wrist with a short-angle torque and stepped in.

George disengaged just in time, sliding back with a grunt.

His eyes narrowed. "An augmenter?"

Ghost remained silent.

He smiled.

"Good."

---

He advanced again — this time faster, empowered by steady mana pulses through his legs and shoulders. Ghost didn't retreat. He absorbed the pressure, parried three blows in rapid succession, and answered with a sharp, controlled countercut that grazed his shoulder armor.

A thin tear opened at the edge of his sleeve.

He looked down, blinking.

That hit had been precise — deliberate. It could've been his neck.

Gulp.

But he'd held back.

The crowd watched in stunned silence as he slowly lowered his blade.

"…I yield."

---

Observation Deck

[Kaspien Bladeheart POV]

I have seen many powerful adventurer in my career as a guildmaster but this...is something else, whoever this Ghost is he can either be a valuable asset to this kingdom or can spell it's doom—

"So,what do you think about him, guildmaster?"

My internal musing was cut short by my secretary. I thought how should I answer her question.

"He's suppressing his mana completely. Most of the spectators couldn't even sense it.That prediction. That efficiency. That's not just talent — that's battlefield experience. He didn't even use his elemental affinity assuming that he even has one. That's scary." I answered honestly.

"What rank should we give him?" My secretary again asked, impressed.

"B-rank. Possibly A." I replied as her eyes widened. "And tell him to come to my office, I will personally give him his adventurers card"

I said finally and got up from my chair to leave for my office.

Let's see what kind of person you are, Ghost.

---

[Kael – First Person POV]

The Guildmaster's office was grander than I expected. Wooden panels, bookshelves lined with old tomes, a sword mounted on the wall — ceremonial, not practical. It smelled like leather and incense. Jörmi hissed quietly beneath my cloak, hidden from view.

The Guildmaster, Kaspien Bladeheart, sat behind a polished desk, fingers steepled. His eyes were sharp — not just with curiosity, but the weight of someone who's seen too much.

"You were impressive out there," he said, his tone neutral but watchful. "Few suppress their mana that well. Even fewer can predict strikes like that."

I remained still. Silent.

He slid a card across the table. My new identity etched in copper.

[Adventurer Card]

Name: Ghost

Rank: B

Core Stage: Solid Orange

Specialization: Unknown

Affiliation: None

Status: Active

"Congratulations," Kaspien said, voice unreadable. "Not many go straight to B-rank. Most take years."

I nodded once. "Thank you."

He studied me for a moment, then leaned forward. "I am assuming you won't tell me your identity even if I ask nicely."

I didn't respond.

"Fair enough,You don't have to tell me," he added, leaning back. "But this world doesn't stay quiet for long. Power like yours will be noticed. Even if you don't want it to be."

I met his gaze, calm. "Then I'll deal with it when it comes."

He chuckled. "As you wish.Just don't forget — Xyrus has ears. And eyes. Including mine."

I took the card, gave a respectful nod, and left.

CHAPTER END

A.N.

What do you think about this chapter. I experimented with some new things.

I know you were probably expecting something OP from the gacha but what can we do it's luck's game, isn't it. Atleast he got some useful things.

Anyways,he is finally an adventurer, so tell me which cannon characters would you like to see next and give ideas for his adventures.

Thank You.
