Chapter 7 - doubt

While Mokhtar was thinking about how to search for the creators of the program, but he started to believe that maybe he was wrong — maybe it really was a case of theft or hacking. He thought, "I shouldn't start spreading dangerous information, like accusing artificial intelligence in public, without proof. I could lose my credibility with my audience if I don't have evidence. I must search for the truth." So first, he decided to check if he had been hacked or not.

He sent a voice message to a friend:

"Hello, I need a favor. I'll bring you my computer, and I want you to check if it was hacked or not."

This friend of his knew a lot about computers and hacking. Mokhtar said to himself, "When I go to Sherif, I'll talk to him about the possibility that my story was stolen by AI. But now, I have something very important to do."

Mokhtar went to the library where he had borrowed the novel. He went to the librarian.

Mokhtar: "I want to ask you something."

Librarian: "Yes, sir?"

Mokhtar took out the book he had borrowed. "This novel, who brought it here?"

Librarian: "It came recently and was delivered anonymously. I found three copies exactly at my apartment door."

Mokhtar: "Did the person leave a phone number or anything?"

Librarian: "No, nothing at all. But why are you asking?"

Mokhtar: "I just wanted to praise the author, so I was trying to contact him. But there's no name on it."

Librarian: "Actually, there's a security camera at my door, so I was able to see who left it."

He took out his phone and showed Mokhtar a picture of the man. It was a delivery worker from a shipping company, wearing the company's uniform.

Mokhtar transferred the photo to his phone and thanked the librarian.

Mokhtar: "One last thing — can you check if this novel was delivered to any other library or only yours?"

Librarian: "Sure, I'll check. Give me your phone number so I can update you."

Mokhtar thought: If the book was sent to more than one library, then it's a case of theft for money. But if it was sent only to this library, then it's meant to catch my attention and make me angry. Let's see what's going on.

Mokhtar went to the delivery company's office and asked about the worker.

Worker: "Yes, he works here. He might come in any time."

Mokhtar: "Please, I'll wait for him."

Worker: "Did he do something?"

Mokhtar: "No, not at all. But he lost something while delivering my order, so I came to return it to him."

Mokhtar waited a little, and then the delivery worker arrived. When he saw Mokhtar, he was extremely shocked — his eyes widened, his mouth went dry, and he looked like he had seen a ghost. It was as if a disaster had arrived.

Mokhtar stepped forward until they were face to face.

Mokhtar: "Hello. I want to ask you about the novel you delivered to the librarian. Who told you to send it?"

Mokhtar noticed how scared and nervous the man was. He looked like he was shaking.

There was silence between them — if you dropped a nail on the floor, you would have heard it clearly.

Suddenly, the worker pushed Mokhtar and started running.

Mokhtar stood up, clenched his jaw, and began chasing him, while all the other workers watched in shock…
