(3rd POV)

Makima was pinned against the wall, Aleks holding her close as they exchanged deep, sloppy kisses.

He explored her mouth, her tongue, her lips—marking her as his even if its only for this moment.

Makima's hand rested behind his head, fingers tangled in his hair as she savored this intimate moment.

They kept going, their lips locked, until Aleks finally pulled back. A thin trail of saliva connected their lips before it broke.

He leaned into her, resting his forehead on her shoulder, letting her feel the way his breathing wavered.

Just for now, he showed her a sliver of his vulnerability.

"Well, that was something~" Makima whispered against his ear, her warm breath sending a shiver down his spine.

He wanted more, but he forced himself to stop. Now wasn't the time to give in to his desires. He had his first ever mission waiting.

He lifted his head to look at her again, their gazes locked—her concentric golden eyes studying his bright blue ones.

"Remember me well, Miss Makima," he said quietly. "Even if you lose your senses…I want you to remember me."

"Remember how I look, how I smell, how I feel…and how I taste."

His voice was low, almost bitter.

"I know you don't bother remembering people's faces. You memorize their scent instead. Am I really the same to you?"

He let everything spill out, every thought he'd been holding back.

Makima looked genuinely surprised—but not shocked.

She'd expected him to figure it out eventually.

Her smile didn't waver.

She lifted her hands, gently cradling his face as she leaned her forehead against his.

"I'll never forget you, Aleks-kun," she said softly. "You're special to me. Even if I lost all five senses…I'd still recognize the one who captured my heart."

There she goes again.

I can't tell if she's telling the truth, Aleks thought.

"Miss Makima…" he began, voice a little rough. "Can I ask you something else?"

She hummed, a quiet signal to continue.

"Can you…reward me? After I finish this mission?"

A hint of desire slipped into his tone despite himself.

Makima's smile widened just a fraction.

"Well…that depends on your performance," she said, calm as ever. "So do your best."

He finally stepped back, putting distance between them.

His mind was racing.

This is it.

I know you have something planned.

I don't know what you really want from me…

…but I swear, I'll make you fall for me.

He separated from her and turned to leave, but before he could take another step, Makima's hand gently closed around his wrist.

He looked back, puzzled.

Her golden eyes locked onto his.

"Be careful."

Just those two words—and he felt something twist in his chest. Why was she saying that? Why did it sound so genuine coming from her, of all people?

He held that thought, feeling the weight of it settle somewhere he couldn't reach.

And then he smiled.

"Of course," he said calmly.

He turned fully, meeting her gaze head-on.

"Don't worry about me. Even if my arms and legs were tied…"

"I'll never lose."

His grin widened—reckless and arrogant. If Gojo were here, he'd probably be proud.

She remained quiet, but her faint smile never left her face.

He walked out of the room and saw Reze waiting for him outside. She leaned against the wall, arms folded over her chest, her right foot tapping against the floor like she was bored out of her mind.

"You took your sweet time," she said as he approached her.

Aleks scoffed. "None of your concern, bomb girl. Let's get going, shall we?" He didn't want to waste more time, especially listening to her teasing.

"Well, I could hear everything…all those sloppy kissing sounds." She smirked, clearly enjoying herself. "She really has you wrapped around her finger, huh?"

Aleks said nothing and kept walking. Reze followed behind him.

"What's the big deal? You jealous? Want me to fix that?" he shot back, his tone casual.

"Shut up…idiot." Reze's face turned a little red as she looked away.

They kept walking until they reached the bottom floor of the facility. Security here was tight. Surveillance cameras scanned them while guards watched their every move.

They both swiped their ID cards across the scanner. The heavy door hissed and slid open, revealing a whole new side of headquarters.

Inside was a massive hall filled with agents in black suits, all focused on their own tasks. A tense atmosphere hung over the place, and the sound of rushed conversations filled every corner of the hall.

Among the crowd, a woman noticed them and walked over.

She cleared her throat to get their attention. Aleks and Reze looked up.

She seemed like a Japanese woman in her mid-thirties, with black hair, black eyes, and a sharp, professional look that never wavered.

"Good morning. I'm Miyako, captain of the Magic Division," she introduced herself in a calm tone. "Miss Makima has briefed me about your mission."

She gestured behind her. "Please come with me to the teleportation chamber."

They nodded and followed her down the hall.

Soon, they entered a wide room with a huge teleportation circle drawn across the floor. Strange letters inscribing the magic circle glowed faintly along the edges, symbols Aleks didn't recognize.

"This will teleport you to our Yokohama branch," Miyako explained. "From there, a barrier specialist will join you for your first mission as members of the new Special Division 4."

Special Division 4? Aleks paused.

That name made Aleks stop for a second.

It was the same division Denji, Aki, Power, and all the others had belonged to.

Before you know, everything went to hell.

(1st POV)

We didn't waste much time and stepped onto the teleportation circle. Some nobodies stood at the three corners of the magic circle, probably there to channel it with their magical energy since we apparently lacked it.

Soon enough, the circle started glowing, and before I could form a proper thought, we were already teleported away to Yokohama, a whole new city in a different prefecture.

I gently opened my eyes, finding us standing in a different room.

I saw a few men and women dressed in the iconic Public Safety uniforms, standing close to the circle and watching us.

Among them, one particular woman stood out. She had this anxious demeanor going on, like she was scared of something.

Reze and I stepped out of the circle and gave a polite bow to greet these Japanese people.

"I'm Aleks. Nice to meet you," I introduced myself in a calm tone.

"Reze." She just said her name. Figures.

The anxious woman stepped forward and introduced herself, her voice shaky. "H-hello, m-my name is Kobeni Higashiyama. I will be accompanying you on your first m-mission. P-please take care of me."

She was really trying her best, even though she looked like she might pass out.

"Calm down, Kobeni. It's not like it's a huge threat. I heard Reze is really strong. You don't have to be so…scared all the time," a random guy I wouldn't bother remembering tried to reassure her.

You gotta be shitting me. Kobeni here? How funny.

If you don't know her, she's from the CSM world. Formerly part of the same division Denji and the others were in. She acts cowardly most of the time, but in those rare moments when her courage takes over, she's actually terrifying.

Zenitsu situation going on here I see.

We exchanged contacts, and then Reze, Kobeni, and I headed to the place where our mission would take place.

Before long, we arrived at the compound of the Kirishima-kai family—a well-known Yakuza clan in Yokohama and direct relatives of the main branch in Nagoya.

My Six Eyes scanned the area, taking in every detail. I heaved a sigh of relief—everyone was alive. The devil hadn't made his move yet.

As we stepped inside the compound, a mature woman in a traditional kimono came out to greet us. She must be the lady of the house.

"I'm glad you came," she said warmly. "Please, come in. Everyone is inside—tense and scared. I hope you can reassure them."

"We wouldn't mind. Thank you for having us," I replied politely.

Reze and Kobeni followed me into the compound.

I kept my Six Eyes active, ready to sense any sign of the devil.

Devils carried an ominous, supernatural aura—nothing like miasma, but something darker.

I'd felt something similar when I looked at Makima. Hers was different—more refined, more primal. She wasn't like the Fallen Angel or the devils I'd encountered while walking on the street.

Maybe she really was a hybrid, the same way Reze was? A half-devil with their CSM powers on top of that.

I didn't have the answers.

But I wasn't about to let those thoughts clog my mind

Right now, I had one job: protect this family.

***

We arrived in the main hall of the Japanese-style house. About twenty people were gathered there—scared, tense, grief-stricken.

Some of the men gripped baseball bats. Others had put on old samurai armor, like it would actually help. A few clutched guns in their trembling hands.

Did they really think any of that would protect them? How sad.

When we stepped into the room, every eye turned to us.

They saw the uniforms, and for a second, you could feel the relief roll through them—like they believed we were something that could actually save them.

A little girl stepped forward, moving past the adults. She looked like she was about nine.

"Big brother…?" she asked, her voice small. "Are you here to protect us?"

I crouched down so I could look her in the eyes.

"Yes," I said, smiling a little. "Big brother's here to protect you. As long as we're here, you don't have to be scared. Alright?"

Her face brightened. You could almost see the moment she decided to believe me.

"Un." She nodded and hugged me, her tiny arms wrapping around me.

I heard a woman's voice behind her.

"Sakura…"

I looked up. A woman in her late thirties came forward, her expression apologetic.

"I'm sorry if my daughter startled you. After hearing about her favorite cousin's death…she's been devastated. I hope you don't mind."

She bowed to me, apologizing.

At that instant, my Six Eyes flared up, picking up the ominous aura.

"He's here," I said flatly. Everyone went silent.

"Kobeni, go outside and set up a barrier around the house."

"Reze and I will deal with the threat."

The moment she heard outside, Kobeni's face went pale.

"C-can I n-not…s-stay inside and protect them?" she stammered, desperate.

I put my hand on her shoulder, trying to steady her nerves.

"I promise…no harm will come to you. If you cover the house with a barrier, you'll keep everyone safe and prevent property damage."

"And…it's not like you'll be alone, right?" I added, giving her a faint smile.

"You got this!"

"Yeah, go get 'em!"

"Please save us!"

The people around us started cheering.

Seeing so many counting on her, Kobeni bit her lip, but finally nodded.

We didn't waste any time. Reze and I stepped outside.

There he was—slowly walking up the stairs, his expression crazed, the hunger for blood written all over his face.

Judging by the presence and aura he gave off…Ultimate-Class? He felt weaker than that fallen angel I fought though.

This would be a piece of cake.

Just as I was about to move, Reze put a hand on my arm to stop me.

I turned, puzzled.

"Let me handle this one," she said, her eyes narrowed. "I'm already in a bad mood. I need to warm up—and it's not like this loser's any threat to me."

She flexed her arms, showing off like she was about to put on a show. Her fingers brushed over the pin on her neck, ready to pull it.

"Oh…and this'll be the first time you see me fight for real," she added with a little grin.

I shrugged. "Fine. But if it looks like you're struggling, I will jump in."

"Also, don't let that bastard activate any spell. Trust me. Speaking from experience," I said, remembering that SOS spell used by that bitch. It was a pain in the ass to deal with.

Reze turned her gaze back to the devil, her expression hard.

"I'll teach you how to deal with scum like this," she said quietly. "I'll teach you everything you don't know Aleks."

She looked at me with a smile adorning her beautiful face.

"So…just trust me."

My heart started beating faster.

This…

This was the moment I knew, I really liked this girl.
