Aurelia
The room is cool and quiet, with no sign that anything happened the night before. They've been behind that big dark cherry desk for decades, and this is the first time their hearts have been beating so fast. Elian changes everything. My assistant appears with a folder to sign for me, and I just glare at her.
Louella appears by my side, her voice a little out of breath, I'm reaching the end of my fucking deadline. I knew this would never be possible in the short time I had. I must delay things. "Miss Knox... you have an online conference with some Alphas today..." "Fuck... take a picture if this entire files and put it in the email, put them on hold, I am not ready yet." "Yes, ma'am"
"God fucking dammit" I mutter as I grab another folder of papers, only to shove them aside as well. "Shit..." I let out a heavy sigh as I massage my face in agony. I can't believe that I have so much fucking paperwork to sign off on. I have grown this company into a mega empire over the past thirty years, and honestly, it's exhausting dealing with every little detail at this point.
I pour myself a glass of scotch full. "It's only 10: 00 am, ma'am" Louella says, sighing. "Then I'll have my whisky now" I sigh. "I think you should have some coffee. Maybe eat something." Louella says. I lean back and sip the scotch, its burn helping to warm my insides. She's probably right... "You probably should go eat something" Louella says, as she straightens one of my custom-made button-down shirts.
Louella sighs deeply as I ignore her advice and drink, "When did you last eat?" Shaking my head in the request laid out today, I mutter, "Who the fuck cares?" There is just so much of it, why did anyone need it? "Miss Knox..." she warns, I ignore her and drink more of my scotch.
Louella stands in front of me shaking her head, "Miss Knox... have you exercised yet today? Ulric is going to be so mad at you." She arches her eyebrows at me, and I snarl in frustration, our eyes focus intensely on each other, trying to see who will break the standoff.
"I'm done with training for today. I've been calling nonstop since morning and I'm way past my training" I blurted out. I wanted Luella to bite her tongue and not say another word, but that was too much to ask. "I'll just check with you, but you need to have coffee this morning, or Ulrik…" I growled, "Luella…" I cut her off.
"Miss Knox, you cannot keep doing this to yourself" she starts off. I look up, annoyed, "Wait till Elian is here to see you like this." I grip the glass in my hand so tightly it shatters, and I slash my fingers in the process. "Enough with him!" I shout, almost foaming at the mouth. "Enough talking about him!" Louella's eyes go wide and she sighs, "Fine, Miss."
"Luella, get out of my office!" I listened to her heels stride out. Instantly I could feel the burn of Anger, disappointment, longing and sorrow. I sit up slowly and silently. I am only aware of a strange rain shower that rattles the windows of my dark floor-to-ceiling windows outside of my office I slowly added up some ideas, realizing how creatively I tried to deflect them with Elian. My mind tries to lie to me.
I let out a sigh, grab a few documents and file them away in my office's storage system. I stay still for a minute to catch my breath after all that tension, and the glass cuts painfully into my hand. "Oh fuck..." I stare at the myriad of tiny wounds on my palm while I pull up my sleeve.
Suddenly my phone rang and I picked it up, growling. "Aurelia, come quickly to the villa! Tarek Likaris has kidnapped Elian!" I slammed my fist on the table. "What?!" Cellaria growled in my head. No one asked my Omega. "I'll be right there!"
I grit my teeth, walking quickly across the smooth surface, my bare feet stamping as I see my long, darker nails cutting through the carpet. I feel my anger rising through my wolfish body like a tidal wave. Chellaria snarls in her mind at the thought of Elian being kidnapped. "Our Omega. Not Elian" I say. Corrected. Chellaria lets out a long, mental breath.
I rush through my office, through the large meeting area and quickly remove my heels and get in my car. I roll down my windows and sniff the air, a few places Elian was that day were still about. This turn my wolf instinctive and aggressive, the torture only makes Cellaria stronger.
I race through the streets, the wolf growling in my head, my veins boiling with anger. I barely manage to enter the large gates of my villa before I inhale a little of Elian's scent. Just as the horn blares, I open the door of the house and see Raina, my beta, pacing anxiously around the room. "Aurelia! Thank God you came quickly!"
I enter through the front door and catch Raina's eye just as she quietly descends the stairs and asks for permission to speak. "Aurelia, I'm sorry. I was... he..." I can't wait any longer for a more thorough explanation. "Where's Elian? What happened? Where's the rest of my pack?" I approach her, gritting my teeth in a growl.
Raina swallowed hard and took a step back. "We were out hunting with the pack and left Elian alone in the villa..." She paused and took a deep breath. "When we returned, Terek had taken Elian! He had left a note warning you." I growled loudly, and Raina cringed. "How dare he?! No one takes my omega!"
"Aurelia, please" Raina says quietly, placing a hand on mine cautiously, and with the other she quickly moves the torn letter under the hearth, "Tarek said he wanted to control Elian's heat." I look into her pale eyes. She senses my sudden aggressive chill; only bloodlust pierces through me. "I'll kill him."
"Gather the pack! I will find my Elian!" I howl at Raina and Pont, another pack member who was staring at me from the hallway. He nodded and rushed out to do as I commanded.
I quickly changed my clothes to prepare for this chase. The moon hung full in the night sky; the heat of Elian was just beginning. Aurelia had not yet appeared. I hurried to the jeeps in the backyard, and Pont and Raina immediately settled down beside me. I grabbed the small bottle of perfume that I had kept safely in my pocket. "His special scent" I said mostly to the others in the pack, but also to comfort myself.
The scent of Elian fills the whole car, it's both torture and comfort for me. Raina peers at me. "Raina, I need smoke" I groaned. She quickly pulls out a cigarette from the pack she has hidden behind her own shirt and hands it to me. I light it and inhale.
As I exhaled a cloud of smoke from my lungs, the sharp taste filling my mouth and stinging my eyes as I held the cigarette like a life preserver. "How are we supposed to find them?" "We'll follow the scent, luckily it's still weak, otherwise our hopes would be far off. Elian hasn't released any pheromones from his omega gland yet. If we follow it, it will lead us to him."
Pont spun around, starting the jeep and driving through the pastures at the back of the property as I exhaled the last bits of smoke from the cigarette. They were gone, in the distance an odd scent bending in the breeze, following it. I didn't need to sight the direction off by the scent, something else was on the air, electric and sad.
