Chapter 47 - Chapter 047: Tyranid Assassin — Lictor!

Despite the sky being covered with artillery fire and set ablaze, blocking even the sunlight.

One could still clearly see with the naked eye the enormous mass in the sky—evidently a super-sized space station or space fortress.

And it wasn't just one.

Now, one of them had noticeably changed from its previously observed state—it had somewhat flipped, and appeared larger.

This increased size was definitely not just because the larger face was now facing the ground after it had flipped.

This growth in apparent size was clearly due to its decreasing distance from the planet's surface.

Faintly visible flashes appeared on the surface of this colossal object, which seemed to be cracking slightly, inevitably leading to grim speculation.

This enormous object was losing its balance, about to leave orbit and fall toward the surface.

And this thing appeared to be directly above the person in the center of the current view—meaning it would crash down on him?

Yes, it could be confirmed that it was indeed falling.

The detached fragments had already contacted the atmosphere, producing dazzling orange-red light from the friction.

These were definitely not descending aircraft or some kind of airdropped armed equipment.

The trajectory of the fall clearly indicated it was being naturally pulled by gravity, showing no intention to evade the attacks from some aircraft.

Unfortunately, as the livestream host's viewpoint changed with his own movement, it became difficult to observe the state of the sky.

But at least one thing was certain—he definitely needed to find a way to avoid the impact of the impending collision between heaven and earth.

Ah, there it was again—that creature with mantis-like features, so persistently harassing him.

[Fallen Saint Black Cat: This thing is so disgusting, so shameless!

Tendo Civilian Security Company: Indeed, it's so vile, even having chameleon abilities]

This creature was an assassin.

But if it were purely about assassination and ambush, that would be one thing—this creature was playing the despicable card of hostage-taking.

It had grabbed a group of children and killed them alive in front of him, forcing him to feel guilty and not run away.

Even worse, when it ambushed him and he dodged and returned fire, it threw children in the way as human shields.

In short, this insect used humans as shields or as thrown weapons, likely to make him hesitate.

So—

Ugh!

Tendo Kisara fell silent. He truly showed no mercy at all.

Although there was some reluctance in his heart, under the current circumstances, his actions were very rational and absolutely correct.

In this environment more hellish than hell itself, these children being cleanly killed by him was a form of release.

Otherwise, being captured by monsters, tortured, parasitized, used as nutrients—such torment would be worse than a quick death.

However, if this continued, with that thing persistently after him, his situation would become very dire.

Originally, his battle underground with the group of demons and a traitorous Astartes had left him seriously injured—one arm severed and a terrifying wound cut across his chest.

Now, his movements had clearly diminished since emerging from that monstrous elevator nest.

...

That creature with mantis-like features was a Tyranid species specializing in stealth, known as a Lictor.

Lictors can move at high speed without making a sound, and their color-changing carapace allows them to hide their whereabouts to prevent detection by prey.

These creatures are highly intelligent and possess highly sensitive sensory organs, allowing them to quietly observe, eavesdrop, and taste their prey from the shadows.

Under normal circumstances, in the current situation, this creature should be ambushing various human strongholds, not fixating on him.

Now, it had clearly set its sights on him, believing his DNA fragments were valuable for absorption—what a nuisance.

So, it had also secreted pheromones, notifying other nearby Tyranids to come hunt him.

It was too obvious—some Tyranids that had been engaged in battle suddenly turned and headed straight for him.

At this rate, with more and more bugs joining in, escape would become impossible, even with wings.

Hmm?

After failing in its despicable attempt to make him pity those children, this thing now directly discarded the remaining two and went invisible.

As for those whom Ejie had shot dead, he certainly wasn't hard-hearted or indifferent.

But what could he do?

In the current situation, he could only continuously suppress his emotions and let rationality rise to the surface.

That is—!

Positioned near what resembled a cliff edge, Ejie noticed a special aircraft.

This seemingly impractically beautiful aircraft was clearly one belonging to the nobility.

Seeing its flight trajectory, he unhesitatingly retreated a certain distance, then sprinted with all his might, finally making a powerful leap from the edge when he reached it.

"I knew you'd also seize this opportunity!"

That persistent creature had indeed followed closely behind him, lunging forward with even faster speed.

It seemed likely to pounce on him before he could land on the aircraft.

With a smirk, Ejie detached all parts of his power armor except those on his arms and legs.

Like Iron Man's armor, it could split into several independently flying pieces, though not as freely maneuverable.

But this level of control was enough for now, as he deliberately sent the pieces crashing into the bug.

The numerous melta bomb heads on the armor detonated on contact.

The result was predictable.

However, there was no time to observe what became of it; he needed to focus on seizing this opportunity.

The moment he landed, Ejie exerted all his strength to attach himself to the aircraft. The piercing sound of metal scraping extended almost from the front to the rear before stopping, finally allowing him to secure a grip.

This appeared to be a modified Thunderhawk gunship, giving a somewhat futuristic sci-fi aircraft feel.

But some weapons that would affect its aesthetics had been removed.

Without dwelling on these details, Ejie immediately moved to the cockpit at the front, unhesitatingly using melta bullets to create a "sunroof" before entering.

Without hesitation, under the bewildered gaze of the pilot, he knocked him out with a punch, along with a lavishly dressed individual.

Taking the pilot's seat to fly it himself, he immediately pushed the power to maximum.

To his surprise, this aircraft with its modified exterior, which appeared very aerodynamic, was faster than a normal Thunderhawk gunship and more maneuverable.

Next, he needed to deal with the crisis of the falling object in the sky.

That enormous mass, over thirty kilometers wide, had already half-entered the atmosphere.

It looked set to crash directly onto the hive city where he had been!

At the current speed of the Thunderhawk gunship, escaping the direct impact zone would be easy.

But the key was to escape the massive destructive shock wave that would be produced after it crashed into the hive city!

It was like a shell not directly hitting your body but exploding beside you—that force would be even more deadly.
