Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 The Last Day

"Old Woodyard again?"

"Why are they so fast?"

All the lumber yards were surprised.

The apprentice from the old wood yard had obviously run back with all his might. He was sweating profusely as he carried a large piece of wood. He rushed to the incense string and put it down with a thud.

Master Yang walked over and took the sweat-soaked label from his hand. He took a look at it.

The apprentice of the old lumberyard looked at him expectantly, and he could almost see his tail wagging behind him.

Master Yang nodded slightly and turned around to go back. Two more words were added to the name of the old wooden yard.

"Awesome!" All the apprentices of the old lumberyard jumped up and hugged each other.

Perhaps he was too quick to ignore the others. Although the second apprentice from the beech farm was not much slower than the previous one, he brought the wrong wood.

He recognized a piece of elm as beech and brought it back.

Beech wood was their signature wood, and even if the two materials were very similar, he should not mistake them.

When Master Yang announced the results, the smile on the apprentice's face disappeared and he looked at Master Jin helplessly. Master Jin was talking to his immediate master. The two of them frowned slightly and shook their heads together. The acolyte's face instantly turned even paler. He opened his mouth, feeling a little flustered and aggrieved.

The remaining three apprentices from the wood yard all came back late. When the apprentice from the redwood yard came back, only a fifth of the incense was left, but his wood was correct. The other two not only came back late, but also had some wood problems, so they barely got a symbolic two points.

The difference is even more pronounced.

One figure after another shuttled through the square, the reddish-brown cloth fluttering continuously.

The apprentices of the old lumberyard were always the first to return, always bringing exactly the right piece of wood, and full marks were almost synonymous with them.

The rest of the apprentices not only came back late, but the wood was always uneven, as if being right was something that could only be done by chance.

Master Yao was still smiling at the beginning and occasionally spoke to Senior Brother Zhou. As time passed, his expression became more and more serious. In the end, he even stood up and walked to the edge of the stone platform, staring down.

On the wooden board, the neatly arranged characters looked like a racetrack, and the last character looked like the current running figure of the apprentices in the wood yard.

Now, the apprentices of the old lumberyard were approaching at a crazy speed, overtaking one by one.

They first passed the ash field not far away, then the cypress field and the redwood field. Now, they were charging towards the beech field, getting closer and closer to them!

Beech farms are not without advantages.

Except for the apprentice who mistook elm wood for beech wood, the next few apprentices brought back the correct wood.

However, compared to the old woodyard, their speed was too slow. Almost every time, they would get stuck when the incense thread was about to burn out. Twice the incense was almost burned out, leaving only a few sparks, barely getting points.

The apprentices in the old lumberyard were even more excited. They were more motivated than before.

The moment the incense stick lit up, it was like a starting gun to them. They ran with all their might for goals they had never thought of before.

"Double positive, great! Twenty-one more points!"

An apprentice rushed back into the line, panting. The acolytes beside him rushed up and slapped him on the back desperately, praising him for doing a good job.

The apprentice's eyes lit up like fire, and he grinned as he called out the next apprentice's name.

"Tie it down, come on!"

The two of them high-fived each other. The apprentice named Tie ran forward and began to prepare.

The atmosphere in the team was very warm. Xu Wen looked at them as if something was burning in his heart, and the more it burned, the more prosperous it became.

"Thanks to you." Xu San's voice suddenly sounded.

Xu Wen turned around.

"Thank you for bringing us up. We were prepared in advance. In the past, we only needed to take the root, there was no need to look for it at all!" Xu San would not stutter if he spoke slowly, but he was too excited to avoid his stutter.

"…Hmm!" Xu Wen nodded. An unprecedented sense of accomplishment filled his heart.

Next, the old wood field and two double is into the account, beech wood field two people failed to arrive in time, a point did not get.

By now, the Old Wood Farm was ranked second, only one point behind the Beech Farm. As long as Xu Wen performed normally in the end, he would be able to catch up with them in one fell swoop and obtain the first place that the old lumberyard had never obtained before!

There were only five prospective apprentices left in each wood yard. Xu Wen slowly stepped forward and came to the front of Xiang Xian. Beside him were Lu Cheng, He Ping, and the others.

Five wooden trays were held in front of him. The wooden trays were painted with different colors, representing five different wood yards.

The tray, which had been full of labels, was now almost empty.

The white candle tilts and will light five incense strings to begin the final round of the evaluation competition.

Xu Wen was ready and was about to start when he suddenly heard a shout from above: "Wait a moment!"

Above the stone platform, Master Yao stood up and stared at the tray of the old wood yard.

" For this last round, you don't need to draw lots to get the wood marked on the paper." He walked down and handed Xu Wen a piece of paper folded into thin strips.

"Do you think we cheated?" Xu Wen raised his eyebrows and asked bluntly.

His question was too direct, and the surroundings were immediately in uproar. Master Yang shouted," Xu Wen, don't be rude!"

"Of course not. I was supposed to write them one by one, but now I'm just adding one more sheet." Master Yao said calmly.

Write them one by one, personally?

Xu Wen looked at him deeply, took the note, and faced Master Yang.

Master Yang was the judge of this assessment. Even if Master Yao was the examiner, he had to approve the change of rules.

Master Yang was stunned at first, and his expression instantly came to a realization. He wanted to say something but didn't say it. In the end, he nodded and said," Yes."

Xu Wen nodded with just one word. When the incense string was ignited, he started running like the apprentices in the old wood yard!

He hasn't run like this in a long time.

The last time he ran like this was when he had just graduated and entered work.

It was also a hot summer day, and their company was holding an exhibition. As soon as they started, they realized that there was an important exhibit that they had not brought.

As a newly hired underling, he was duty-bound to become this errand boy.

The exhibition is a distance away from the company, but the surrounding area is blocked badly. Xu asked urgently and could only run.

He remembered the anxiety he felt at that time more clearly than the heavy traffic and the scorching sun.

The client is almost here, the exhibits can't be delivered in time, the deal can't be negotiated, he has to be responsible!

The exhibit was very big. He went back to the company to get it, but he couldn't get a taxi. He could only hold it and run all the way back.

After that, he developed the habit of organizing and reviewing, and never made the mistake of missing exhibits again.

Compared to his anxiety back then, Xu Wen's mood was very calm now.

His ears still echoed with the laughter of his senior brothers, and their bright smiles were reflected in his mind.

Their request was so simple that they could have a hot meal and some meat.

They can totally do it!

Xu Wen opened the label as he ran.

Sure enough, Master Yao's words were well spoken, but he still increased the difficulty on the note.

A box was drawn on the paper and marked with a carpenter's symbol. Put it in words, it's--

"Boxwood box, birch drawer board, eight inches long, four inches wide, eight minutes thick."

The so-called drawer board refers to the partition in the wooden box, which cannot be seen without opening the box.

A mixture of two kinds of wood, one of which is hidden and invisible until opened. The eight-inch-long wooden box was not too big. It was hidden in an old pile of wood like a hill. If it was changed, it would not have been found before.

However, seeing this note, Xu Wen believed Master Yao's words.

He wrote all those signs.

This boxwood box had such meticulous requirements. If one wanted to find it, one would first have to have such a wooden box.

Xu Wen had taken the lead in organizing these two days, so he naturally knew that this wooden box did exist. This meant that Master Yao knew and paid attention to the old wood yard…

Xu Wen had a plan in his heart. He clenched the note tightly and rushed back to the old wooden yard. As soon as he stepped in, he saw a petite figure running out. He almost bumped into him again.

Little Senior Sister, what are you doing?" Xu Wen hurriedly stopped.

Even Lin Lin was shocked and stopped. When he saw him, his eyes lit up." Is it your turn?" What do you want? I'll help you find it!"

She looked at her excitedly and smiled.

No wonder all the seniors were so fast.

Xu Wen was a little strange just now. He estimated and realized that his senior brothers were too precise in their timing. It felt like all the time was spent on the road, and there was not a single gap left for finding wood.

Logically speaking, even if everything was sorted out in three such large warehouses, it would not take a little time.

So there was this little girl here to help…

Other than Xu Wen, she was the most familiar with these things.

Xu Wen handed the note to her directly, and even Lin Lin cried out when she saw it: "How can your luck be so bad?"

But then she laughed. Xu Wen understood what she meant and laughed along with her.

"You are so lucky." Lian Linlin sighed. His feelings were completely different from before.

Under normal circumstances, this requirement was extremely difficult. If Xu Wen really got it, then his luck was indeed bad. But now that they had organized the warehouse, they had naturally carried out special sorting for such a special box.

It had been placed in a special place. There was no need to look for it. Even Lin Lin and Xu Wen knew where it was.

Xu Wen's luck was indeed not bad when he " drew " this box!

"Please help me find it." Xu Wen said with a smile.

"Alright!" Lian Linlin replied readily, turning around and running in like a bird.

Before the incense was half burned, Xu Wen returned to the square.

He held the wooden box in his hand and walked to the censer.

Master Lian did not return to the stone platform. Instead, he stood there waiting for him.

His gaze touched the wooden box in his hand and he immediately cried out," How did you find it?!"
