Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5

"Of course. After all, this is Mystic Falls," Caroline said, leaning in close.

Kevin looked at Caroline, who was being so forward, and the two of them irresistibly drew closer, sharing a kiss.

"Caroline, are you sure this isn't just an impulse?" Kevin asked, lifting his head to look at Caroline, who was now hugging his waist.

"Absolutely," Caroline replied with a smile.

With things having reached this point, Kevin would truly be less than a man if he refused. So, the two of them embraced and started making out passionately.

"Come on, let's go back and tell Bonnie and the others the news," Kevin said, holding Caroline after they had been kissing for a good while.

"Mm-hmm," Caroline answered with a smile, and the two of them, hand in hand, started back the way they came. Just as they neared the party's bonfire area, they saw a crowd gathered, shouting for someone to call an ambulance. Kevin's enhanced senses, naturally much sharper than Caroline's, noticed a person lying on a table.

"Vicki! Hang on!" Matt was calling out the woman's name.

"Something bit her! She's losing a lot of blood! It's bad, we need to stop the bleeding first!" Elena said anxiously from the side.

'A vampire? Was it Stefan?' Kevin wondered silently. But looking at Stefan, who was slowly backing away, he saw no blood on him; it probably wasn't him. 'Does that mean there are other vampires nearby?'

"Who's Vicki?" Kevin asked Caroline, who was beside him.

"She's Matt's sister," Caroline replied, her face etched with worry.

"I've learned a bit of first aid. Would it be alright if I take a look?" Seeing Caroline's distress, and considering a life was at stake, Kevin decided he couldn't worry about his Talismans being exposed. Besides, it was a chance to see if the Talismans could be used on others.

"This is a major blood vessel. The main issue is too much blood loss from here. We need to apply pressure to stop it first." Kevin pretended to wipe the blood from Vicki's neck while searching for the vessel. Of course, thanks to the heightened senses granted by the Rabbit Talisman's synergy, he could clearly perceive the damaged blood vessels. He pressed his hand directly onto the vascular area and activated the Horse Talisman, attempting to heal the wound. Kevin carefully controlled the flow of the Talisman's magic, worried that it might work too well and heal her instantly, which would be awkwardly suspicious.

As the magic flowed into the wound, Kevin clearly felt it taking effect on Vicki. He controlled it to repair the main vessels that were causing the massive bleeding, then stopped channeling the magic.

"As long as we keep pressure on this spot and stop further bleeding, then wait for the ambulance to arrive and take her to the hospital for treatment, she should be okay," Kevin explained to the others, after seeing the bleeding significantly reduce as he applied pressure to a few smaller bleeding vessels.

Everyone saw that the bleeding had mostly stopped, and someone had already called for an ambulance. With such an incident occurring at the party, most people lost their mood to continue and started saying their goodbyes and heading home. Those who remained were mostly the closer-knit group, like Bonnie, Caroline, Elena, Matt, and Elena's brother, Jeremy, all waiting for the ambulance.

It wasn't long before the ambulance arrived. Matt helped push Vicki onto the gurney and accompanied her to the hospital. Only then did everyone breathe a slight sigh of relief.

"Let's go to The Grill and wait for news," Bonnie suggested to the group.

"I need to take Jeremy home. I probably can't make it," Elena declined.

Seeing the diminished group, Bonnie didn't press further. "The three of us will go to the cafe and wait for news then."

"So, are you two official now?" Bonnie asked, sitting down and looking at Caroline, who was clinging to Kevin's arm.

"Yeah, we are. We were actually going to tell you when we came back earlier, but then this happened," Kevin admitted, taking Caroline's hand.

"The two hottest guys in Mystic Falls High have been snagged by me and Elena! Wish us luck, Bonnie!" Caroline said, holding Kevin's hand and beaming at Bonnie.

"Of course! You guys are my best friends. I'm so happy you've found people you care about. Looks like I won't need to walk you home tonight, Caroline," Bonnie said with a smile, glancing at Kevin.

"That's for sure. I'll make sure Caroline gets home safely," Kevin added.

After a while, news came that Vicki had reached the hospital and her life was not in danger. Bonnie then parted ways with Kevin and Caroline. Kevin drove Caroline home in his sports car. The two of them then proceeded with the natural progression of a new relationship. (Specific "activities" can be left to your imagination. If you can't imagine, you can seriously watch the last few minutes of The Vampire Diaries, Season 1, Episode 2. Readers also shouldn't think it's too exaggerated to develop so quickly after just meeting for the second time and only just confirming the relationship. In the show, Caroline and Damon had only met for the second time, barely exchanged words, and she took him home for "activities." One can only say that Western countries are perhaps more open in such matters.)

The next morning, Kevin woke up in Caroline's bed. Looking at Caroline beside him and noticing a tell-tale crimson stain on the sheets, Kevin felt it was natural, yet also a little surprised. He reached out, hugged Caroline, and kissed her on the cheek. His other hand then instinctively moved to where she might have been sore from the previous night's activities, channeling the Horse Talisman's magic.

"You're awake," Caroline said, stirred by Kevin's series of actions.

"Yeah, it's getting late. We need to get up for school," Kevin said, having finished healing any discomfort, all while affectionately "getting a little handsy."

"You're right. Let's get up then," Caroline said, turning to kiss Kevin before playfully slapping away his roving hands and getting out of bed to dress.

Kevin watched Caroline's sexy figure, savoring the warm, soft feeling still lingering on his hands. Caroline truly was a captivating little minx. His only slight regret was that her chest was a bit petite, about a handful, but she was still young and would continue to develop.

Kevin, with a finally-dressed Caroline, sped to school in his sports car. They managed to make it just in time for class, though when he'd initially chosen his courses, he'd picked them randomly and wasn't in the same classes as Caroline.

"Am I interrupting something, Mr. Salvatore, Miss Gilbert?" During class, Kevin was finding it hard to watch Elena and Stefan being so obviously lovey-dovey, and it seemed the history teacher couldn't stand it anymore either.

As soon as class ended, Kevin saw Caroline approaching. He joined her and Bonnie, and the three of them walked out together.

"Are you a wizard or a psychic?" Caroline asked Bonnie bluntly.

"Well, my Grams says I'm a witch. That our ancestors were powerful Salem witches and stuff. My Grams tried to explain it all to me back then, but she was pretty drunk, so I didn't really take it seriously," Bonnie said, glancing at Kevin and then at Caroline, who was still holding Kevin's arm. She knew Caroline was the type to be straightforward, and Kevin seemed nice enough, so she didn't hide anything.

"An eccentric family?" Caroline looked at Bonnie.

"You could say that. But witches? I don't believe in them," Bonnie replied casually.

"Is it just me, or does that sound incredibly cool? A family of witches?" Kevin said earnestly at this point. He knew for a fact that vampires existed in this world, so witches weren't impossible; in fact, they likely existed too, and Bonnie was one of them.

"Maybe," Bonnie replied noncommittally.

"Hey, Elena!" Just then, they saw Elena walking alone on campus after separating from Matt. Caroline and Bonnie called her over.

"You head home first. The three of us are going to have a little bestie get-together," Caroline said to Kevin.

"Alright, sure. If you're free tonight, I can show you my place," Kevin said to Caroline, then waved goodbye to Elena and Bonnie before heading home himself.

"Is lunch almost ready? I'm getting a bit hungry," Kevin said as he drove home and saw Sarah busy in the kitchen.

"It'll be ready in just a moment," Sarah replied, already bringing out some of the prepared dishes.
