Fu Jinghan's hand froze mid-air. Before he could protest, the butler entered from the living room.
"Second Young Master, the master said you are not allowed to dine at the table."
Fu Jinghan fell silent for a moment, then carelessly swept his hand across the table, grabbing a handful of food before retreating to the sofa.
After finishing his meal, the group headed to the company together. Having barely slept for two consecutive nights, Fu Jinghan barely had time to rest his head against the backrest before drifting into a drowsy sleep.
"Get out of the car!" The cane landed sharply on Fu Jinghan's leg twice without mercy.
Compared to the confident vigor he had shown yesterday morning, Fu Jinghan now appeared utterly disheveled. His hair was tousled and uncombed, dried after the rain with a faint oily sheen.
As the group entered the company, many employees glanced over at the commotion.
"I wonder what the second challenge will be like…"
"To be honest, I think this is unfair to Su Wanwan. The director has been with the company for so many years, handling countless contracts and maintaining good relations with major firms… Securing a contract shouldn't be difficult."
"Exactly my thoughts."
"You all switched sides so quickly, yesterday wasn't like this."
"Ahem, recognizing one's mistakes and improving is commendable."
"We were all deceived by the director, but now that we know the truth, we won't be his pawns anymore."
"Shh, here they come, stop talking."
Inside the meeting room, the major shareholders were gathered. Upon seeing the chairman and Su Wanwan arrive, the shareholders dispersed and took their seats.
Old Master Fu sat at the head of the table and cleared his throat lightly.
"How are your discussions progressing?"
A short, slender man stood up and placed a document on the table.
"This contract has been stalled for over a month, passed through three department managers, all to no avail."
"Fu Jinghan, Su Wanwan, you have three days. Whoever secures the contract first will win the second round."
Su Wanwan pulled the contract toward her and skimmed it casually.
"Alright."
Fu Jinghan clenched the paper tightly, a twisted smile flickering across his face.
"I will… complete the task on time."
After leaving the company, Fu Liangmu drove, glancing sideways to ask,
"Do you want to visit that company?"
"No need, let's go find Ke Lan." Su Wanwan replied.
Seeing her decisiveness, Fu Liangmu knew she had a plan brewing. He slowed the car and set the destination.
At that moment, Su Wanwan's phone rang.
"Sis-in-law, Xie Ge and I are at Miss Xia's place. Have you left the company yet? Come over so we can discuss the race."
"We're on our way."
As the door opened, Xia Ke Lan's petite figure rushed forward and threw herself into Su Wanwan's arms. Su Wanwan staggered back two steps, her back pressing against Xia's firm chest.
"Wanwan, you finally came! I don't want to stay in the same room as that perverted uncle!"
Su Wanwan straightened up, furrowing her brow in confusion.
"Perverted uncle? Xie Cheng?"
"Who else could it be? Is there anyone older in this house than him?" Xia Ke Lan ranted wildly,
"That guy's character is appalling! Last time, while I was soaking in the bath, he took advantage of me!"
"I know I'm good-looking with a great figure and naturally beautiful, but that doesn't mean he should be so eager!"
Fu Liangmu quietly slipped past them.
Su Wanwan cleared her throat lightly.
"Hmph, he deserves a beating."
Xia Ke Lan nodded with satisfaction and linked arms with Su Wanwan as they walked inside.
"Oh, by the way, when I was practicing driving last night, I ran into that annoying guy again."
"And I just found out he's also a contestant—some kind of racing god. If that's true, I'm doomed to lose…"
"I heard the first prize is five million, plus a diamond necklace mined from some great desert—priceless!" Xia Ke Lan's eyes sparkled.
Fu Ziyang chuckled, teasing her,
"Still dreaming about first place? Li Beimo's racing skills are unparalleled. He's won so many awards overseas; he's the real deal. For a half-baked racer like you, just finishing the course is an achievement."
He looked at Xia Ke Lan's petite frame, unable to imagine how she could make an impression on the racetrack.
"Hey, Sis-in-law, since Xia Ke Lan is joining, aren't you going to compete too?"
Su Wanwan replied calmly,
"I'm not skilled and not interested."
"Oh, but you got first place in my racing game last time."
Xie Cheng slapped Fu Ziyang on the back of his head.
"Are you stupid? A game's not the same as the real thing!"
Fu Ziyang yelped. He grabbed Su Wanwan's sleeve to speak to her but suddenly felt a sharp gaze on the back of his hand.
He immediately let go.
"Um… Sis-in-law, did you bring your ID card?"
"What for?"
"After our last mahjong game, I transferred the lost assets to you. One part requires your information."
Su Wanwan took out her ID from her wallet and handed it over.
Fu Ziyang muttered softly,
"Wow… they really don't hold back. Couldn't they have said no?"
He took his phone and snapped two photos of the front and back of the ID, then retreated to a corner to fumble with it.
After numerous refreshes and glitches, four bold characters finally appeared on the screen:
Registration Successful!
His lips curled into a smug smile, about to gloat, when a hand suddenly landed on his shoulder.
The phone slipped from his hand and fell to the ground with a clatter.
"What are you sneaking around here for?"
Xie Cheng looked down at Fu Ziyang crouching on the floor, clearly seeing the words on the screen.
"Registration successful? You signed up…"
Fu Ziyang sprang up abruptly, covering Xie Cheng's mouth with his hand.
"Shh! Keep it down!"
He glanced nervously at Fu Liangmu, who was completely oblivious to the commotion, before finally releasing his grip.
"Are you trying to get me killed?"
Xie Cheng pulled his hand away.
"What exactly are you up to?"
Fu Ziyang stammered,
"I… I just signed Wanwan up for a competition…"
His vague words left Xie Cheng confused.
"What competition? It can't be a racing competition, right?"
"Didn't Wanwan say she doesn't know how to drive?"
"You signed her up? Won't she embarrass herself?"
Fu Ziyang gritted his teeth, his youthful, unripe but handsome face defiant,
"Well, she swindled me out of so many assets!"
"I just gave her a chance."
Xie Cheng turned and left.
Fu Ziyang's expression crumbled instantly. He grabbed Xie Cheng's wrist.
"Xie Ge, Xie Ge, for the sake of me losing all my underwear, please don't tell Wanwan. Please, please…"
