Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: Open Declaration of War

Fu Liangmu withdrew his bank card with an expression of serene detachment. The gazes cast upon him by those around resembled those reserved for a fool. Everyone knew that today's race was a foregone conclusion—Legendary Driver North would undoubtedly surge to the finish line with a decisive final strike. This was, without question, a solo spectacle for Li Beimuo. After all, this race was not like those prestigious international events with a host of elite racers. So this man… was he a fool?

"Impressive, truly impressive! No wonder Wan Jie set her sights on him—what grandeur!"

"My goodness… fifty million? Am I seeing things?"

"Ahem, we get that you like our Wan Jie, but throwing money into a pit like this is unnecessary."

"What are you saying? Maybe Wan Jie will win after all!"

"Just joined the livestream—why is everyone calling Wan Wan 'Wan Jie' now?"

"Married women must be called 'Jie.'"

Tiger, holding his phone, was dumbfounded. Such an astronomical wager immediately drew the attention of the race reporters, who hurried forward, microphones thrust toward Fu Liangmu's face.

"Sir, the main focus of this race is Legendary Driver North—why are you betting on Su Wanwan?"

"Su Wanwan is an accomplished pianist—does she have any racing skills?"

Faced with these barrage-like questions, Fu Liangmu replied coolly, "I don't bet against my wife."

"Then whom would you bet on?"

The livestream erupted.

"Commanding!"

"Excellent—flawless answer."

"Can't wait! Why hasn't it started yet?"

Yet this scene was witnessed by two women not far off.

"Fu Liangmu is such a sucker, giving his all to support Su Wanwan, unaware she's long betrayed him. Quite pitiful," Li Zhen sighed.

A flicker of jealousy flashed in Su Nian's eyes, though her face bore only melancholy.

"Yes, sometimes I do feel it's unfair to Fu Da-shao."

"When my sister first married him, our family didn't approve much."

"But later, we realized Fu Da-shao wasn't as bad as rumored—he treated her quite well."

Li Zhen said with disgust, "One day, I will make Fu Liangmu see her true nature!"

"Shall we head backstage?"

"No! Su Wanwan's definitely there—I don't want to see her; it turns my stomach."

Backstage had already erupted.

"Fifty million? Damn! Wanwan! Your man treats money like numbers!" Xia Kelan exclaimed, shocked.

She noticed her own bets rising too—though not as much as Su Wanwan's, they matched Li Beimuo's.

Xia Kelan beamed.

"Could it be Ziyang betting on me?"

Su Wanwan recalled how stingy this guy was—he wouldn't even hire a designer, so he certainly wouldn't lavish bets on Xia Kelan. It had to be Xie Cheng.

"Wanwan, if you lose, the Queen's money will go down the drain!"

"You wouldn't have the heart to let that happen, right?"

Before Su Wanwan could speak, Zhang Liang's teasing voice cut in.

"To not lose a penny, you run second; to win, you must be first."

Su Wanwan nodded slowly.

"Then second it is."

Zhang Liang chuckled heartily.

"You're young, but you've got some guts."

"Speaking like that shows you don't respect our Legendary Driver."

"Driver, don't you agree?"

Li Beimuo lifted his head, his gaze sweeping over Su Wanwan with calm indifference—no contempt, no disdain, merely the detached look of a stranger. It was a profound, innate disregard, layered with unshakable pride—but not unpleasant.

"Tch, when Wanwan gets serious, she'll crush your Legendary Driver utterly," Xia Kelan murmured, eyeing Li Beimuo.

A trace of emotion flickered across Li Beimuo's features. He looked up again, meeting Su Wanwan's gaze. His clear black eyes shone with a pure, unyielding resolve. Such eyes stirred a rare interest within him.

If Xia Kelan dared boast such big talk in front of so many, she was either a plastic sister aiming to embarrass Su Wanwan or Su Wanwan truly possessed the skill.

Li Beimuo pondered briefly before suddenly speaking.

"A race?"

Su Wanwan's graceful brows arched with mild intrigue.

"If I win, can I touch your car?"

Li Beimuo nodded.

"If you beat me, you can demand whatever you want."

"Deal."

Their challenge was unspoken yet palpable, tension crackling like drawn swords.

Only Zhang Liang, lacking sense, sidled to Su Wanwan's side, whispering,

"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you—definitely let you pass me!"

Su Wanwan smiled, "Thanks in advance."

"No problem!"

Soon, the organizers called them to line up their cars for the race. Twenty identical, equally modified vehicles sat silently in the garage. She found the one marked with her name, took the keys, and casually touched the helmet resting on the passenger seat, wearing a look of helplessness.

"This is my first time on a racing track…"

Beside her, Xia Kelan excitedly waved from her car.

"Wanwan! Go for it!"

Su Wanwan smiled faintly.

"You too."

"Mm-hmm!"

Xia Kelan floored the accelerator and shot forward.

"Whoa, easy! So many cars—what if they crash!"

Voices cursed ahead, faces unseen.

Su Wanwan didn't rush but first studied her car's interior before placing her hands on the steering wheel. The gesture marked her as a novice.

Zhang Liang zoomed past her.

"Little sister, I'll be waiting for you on the track!"

Su Wanwan started the car slowly, savoring the feel of the steering wheel. Since the race cars were provided by the organizers, they differed somewhat from their own vehicles. Adaptation was key to perform at one's best.

Once accustomed, she leisurely drove out—the last to join the race.

As the drone hovered before her, she smiled and waved. The audience erupted in astonished cheers.

The drone's footage projected on the giant screen revealed Su Wanwan's stunning beauty, impervious even under scrutiny.

Combined with Fu Liangmu's colossal wager, nearly all present now knew her name.

Su Wanwan glanced toward the main stand, meeting a familiar gaze far in the distance.

She faintly saw Fu Liangmu waving at her.

The announcement blared harshly—

"The race will commence in five minutes. All contestants, please prepare."
