July 12th, Thursday.
Approaching noon, the train carrying the four people arrived at Tingen.
Just like before, they waited until everyone had left the station and it was completely empty before they departed.
This was to maximally avoid involving innocent ordinary people.
Outside the station was a carriage that had been waiting for a long time, and beside the carriage was a grey-eyed man in a black trench coat.
This made Ash subconsciously glance at Aiur Hanson—
He was also wearing a grey trench coat.
Aside from the color difference, the two men's attire was almost identical.
"Aiur."
Seeing Aiur Hanson, the grey-eyed man couldn't help but smile.
"Whew."
Aiur Hanson also smiled and pointed at the grey-eyed man, introducing, "Dunn Smith, an Old Man just like me."
"These are my team members, Lorota, I think you've met her... right? This is Bor... gi..."
Seeing his movements become sluggish, Ash pushed him again.
"Sorry."
Aiur sighed, took the box from Lorota's hand, and continued introducing, "Where were we? Borgia, and Ash."
"Let's get in the carriage first."
Dunn nodded slightly at the group and immediately spoke.
Aiur nodded, wasted no words, and immediately led the group into the carriage.
Just as he placed the box on the ground and was about to take the reins, he saw Dunn's movements become incredibly sluggish.
"Looks like you should drive for me."
Aiur pushed Dunn and said with a smile.
Dunn glanced at him, said nothing, and climbed out of the carriage to drive it towards the Night Watcher headquarters in Tingen City.
It was less than a ten-minute ride before the carriage arrived at their destination—
Saint Selena Church.
"Tingen, Saint Selena Church..."
Ash frowned slightly, his memory fragments reminding him that these two places seemed very important.
Could it be that this Tingen is an area with frequent plot developments?
"Were you affected?"
Aiur saw Ash looking somewhat dazed and thought he had been affected by '2-049'.
His expression changing slightly, he immediately pushed Ash and asked in a low voice.
"No."
Ash shook his head and explained, "Just thinking about something."
"That's good."
Aiur breathed a sigh of relief.
Ever since '2-049' attempted to influence Ash in Backlund and was counterattacked into a daze, it hadn't tried to influence Ash again the entire way.
This made Aiur and the others regard Ash as their last resort.
And if Ash had really been affected just now, then this insurance of his would be useless.
The group quickly passed through the Saint Selena Church hall.
Perhaps because it was noon, there weren't many people inside the Church.
This made things much easier for them; they escorted '2-049' through the Saint Selena Church hall and slipped through a hidden door into it.
Afterward, they proceeded along the dark, narrow corridor until they reached a stone staircase.
"You go directly to Chanis Gate."
After descending the stairs and reaching a crossroads, Dunn spoke, "I'll go call my team members."
"Okay."
Aiur nodded, and the two parties walked in different directions at the crossroads.
And even without Dunn leading the way, Aiur could still clearly find which direction Chanis Gate was in—
Because no matter which city it was, the underground layout was actually similar.
This made it convenient for Night Watchers from other regions to seek help from local Night Watchers when they encountered difficulties.
Soon, Aiur and the others arrived before Chanis Gate.
But they didn't attempt to enter; instead, they walked into a small room nearby.
That seemed to be the guard room for observing Chanis Gate from the outside.
And inside the guard room, someone was already waiting for them.
That was a young Night Watcher wearing a white shirt and tight trousers, possessing a touch of a poet's romantic temperament.
He stood up and nodded slightly at the group.
"Leonard Mitchell, Sequence 8 Midnight Poet."
"Acting Method?"
Seeing the poet's temperament on the other party, Aiur and the other two almost simultaneously had the same thought.
Before knowing the Acting Method, they might have just thought this was a chuunibyou teenager.
But now they didn't think so—
The other party was clearly Acting as a Midnight Poet.
"Have a seat first."
Aiur nodded at Leonard, then placed the box on the ground and asked, "We might go directly on a mission later, Ash, do you need to rest?"
He and Borgia are both from the Insomniac pathway and basically don't need rest.
And Lorota is from the Corpse Collector pathway, also not needing much rest.
So only Ash needed attention.
"No need."
Ash gently shook his head.
Although he didn't know why, even without a bonfire, he could still sleep soundly.
But this didn't mean he needed long periods of rest.
"That's good then."
Aiur nodded and didn't ask further.
But deep down, he was actually a little curious.
Ash had never revealed his Sequence to them, and because Ash had told them about the Acting Method, they hadn't dwelled on this too much, only assuming Ash had some unspeakable secret.
But not asking didn't mean they weren't curious; they actually had some secret guesses in their hearts.
"Who is he?"
Leonard, who was doing somewhat awkward arm-flexing exercises, looked at Ash with a hint of scrutiny and surprise.
Because everyone present knew more or less about the characteristics of '2-049', the arm-flexing exercise was to avoid being controlled.
But Ash was the only one not doing it.
And Aiur and the others clearly had no intention of correcting Ash.
Why was that?
Could it be that the other party is a High-Sequence?
"Old Man!"
Leonard's eyes flickered, and he whispered inwardly.
"Don't ask, he's not a High-Sequence, he's not even a Beyonder."
An old voice sounded from within Leonard, instantly making the young 'Poet' widen his eyes.
Not a Beyonder?
Not a Beyonder and yet he is so bold and brave ? Aren't Aiur and the others going to manage him?
Not long after, Dunn Smith returned to the guard room.
Only this time, he also brought a young man with black hair, brown eyes, and a clear scholarly air.
The young man's eyes held some curiosity, clearly observing everyone in the room.
Finally, his gaze fell upon Ash, seemingly finding his attire somewhat familiar.
"Klein Moretti, has a strange connection with the Antigonus Family's notes."
Dunn pointed at the young man and gave a brief introduction, then pointed at Ash and the others, saying, "These ladies and Mr. are colleagues from the Beckland Diocese, escorting the sealed artifact '2-049' here. This is Ms. Luo Luota, Sequence 8 Gravekeeper, and also a sharpshooter."
"Aiur Hanson, an Old Man just like me."
"These two are Borgia, and Ash."
"I am Ashen One ...I mean Ashen Black"
"Uh hello?"
Klien was a little disturbed seeing the enthusiasm of this man.
"Ha ha . Praise The Sun "
'Ashen One?'
"Praise The Sun?"
Klein's pupils contracted slightly, then he quickly and abruptly lowered his head, not letting anyone see his changing eyes.
He had heard that name, and that motto in his previous life!
