Chapter 10 - Good Night!

Bang!

A loud bang thundered throughout the hallways, stunning Lucien by the sheer loudness of the thing.

'And there goes all my efforts of making this as silent as possible.'

He had no time to think idly anymore as he heard footsteps get louder with each passing second.

He quickly snuck towards the blind corner, crouched, and aimed the gun towards the general area where they would appear, waiting patiently.

He patiently waited for them to enter his vision, and just as a man arrived in his vision, he pressed the trigger without any hesitation.

Bang!

The sudden and unfamiliar recoil jolted through his arms, nearly wrenching the gun from his hand.

He wasn't ready for this amount of recoil, but since it was a point-blank shot, it was a hit.

The guard's brains were painted on the wall, and his eyes instantly lost all their life in them.

Lucien quickly threw the gun towards the second guard who entered his vision, hitting his head, not wanting him to use the gun in his hands.

The guard was clearly the superior one here when it came to using the gun, so he wanted to strip him of that advantage.

It was a race against time now, whether Lucien can get to the guard before he regains his balance and shoot the gun towards him.

He threw another chair leg towards the guard, but since it wasn't heavy like a spear, it didn't do much damage to him.

The guard panicked and shot randomly towards Lucien's general direction, and it still surprisingly hit him, given his proximity to him.

"Aaarghhhhh!"

Lucien screamed in pain, the bullet hit his lower left rib, breaking it in the process, but Lucien was still moving towards him due to the sheer muscle memory.

He winced and screamed in burning pain, his eyes bloodshot and his head dizzy, as he missed he throat he was aiming to pierce but the prior momentum from the jump helped him plunge the chair leg directly into the guard's belly.

"EURGHHH!"

The guard also screamed in pain, his instincts taking over, as he aimed his gun towards Lucien in desperation, but Lucien was simply faster.

Both were injured, and pain clouded both their minds, but Lucien's battle instincts were simply superior in every way possible.

He quickly knocked the gun out of his hand and punched the guy right in his jaw.

"Oof!" The sheer weight of the punch threw the guard into a state of lightheadedness, and that was all Lucien needed.

His vision was blurry, and his entire torso was bloodied, but he persevered and kept trying to feel the fallen gun on the ground.

Since he knew the general direction of the gun, he found it in a few seconds and put it against the guard's head.

"Good night." Wasting no time, he pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The wall was painted with another person's brain now, and it even splattered all over Lucien's face, blurring his vision even further.

The nasty brain mince was disgusting, and the stench of that mixed with blood was rancid.

His body was trembling from the adrenaline and the searing pain.

Without any care for the stench or his face, Lucien tore the shirt off the guard and tightly wrapped it around the spot where the bullet hit him to stop the bleeding.

He clenched the wound tightly and wearily sat down, taking support from the corner wall.

He still held the gun firmly just in case, but now he was a whole lot weaker and dizzier than before.

The pain was clouding his mind, and he could barely even stay conscious right now.

But going unconscious in this state would spell his inevitable doom right now, so he had to stay lucid.

'Ugh! I just came alive for god's sake.'

In the control room, Roland and Musa were in a state of shock, unable to believe what had just happened.

And on the other hand, the silver-haired man had retrieved all his aura and subconsciously made them think that he wasn't there to begin with, just to see their reactions.

And they did not disappoint.

"M-Musa! Didn't you tell me that those guards were trained professionals and awakened recruits?" Roland stuttered, almost forgetting the silver-haired man, even though he was right behind them.

"They were." Musa grimly said, but he doubted his own words now, witnessing the absurd carnage that had just occurred on the screen.

Roland suddenly turned back and grabbed Musa by his collar, as he asked in a fierce tone, "Then how can a mere spoiled prince who hasn't even awakened yet kill them like this?"

Musa had no words, as he just glared back into Roland's eyes, trying to convey his honesty.

After a few seconds of staring each other dead in the eyes, Roland let go of Musa and clicked his tongue in annoyance, but suddenly, they both froze.

The air seemed to grow colder, and their lungs nearly froze as they heard an oddly familiar voice from beside them.

"Musa, you are an Adept realm exalt, right?"

A shiver ran down Musa's spine as he nodded mechanically.

'How could we even forget about the monster right behind us this fast?' They both thought in unison, but neither of them had any answers for it.

"Good, take this potion, feed the prince, and when he recovers, fight him to death. No weapons allowed." His voice left no room for any form of negotiation.

Musa knew that it would not end well for him if he retorted, so he simply accepted the potion with a bowed head.

'Damn!' When Musa saw the potion, his breath hitched.

Small, fancy glass vial, full of glittery yellow potion, that moved around in the liquid like it had a life of its own.

It was something Musa had only ever seen on the internet and TV, but could never afford.

It was a high-quality healing potion that was worth a 6-digit number per vial.

His hands shook, but he held firm, as he internally vowed not to damage this vial in any way.

Not even an entire limb of his could pay the cost.

Wasting no time, Musa fled the room quickly and navigated through the narrow hallways and quickly reached the corner where the prince was.

He even saw several unconscious bodies of guards on the ground, which Lucien did not kill, but he knew who had done this.

And just as he reached the corner where he last saw Lucien in the camera, a thunderous sound reverberated.

Bang!
