After defeating Ling Wanqiu's Garchomp, Jiang Chen also understood that the points obtained indeed differed based on the opponent's strength.

Defeating a Garchomp at the pseudo Elite Four, fifth rank, yielded one thousand points.

"Next time, I won't lose to you."

Hearing Ling Wanqiu's words, Jiang Chen said faintly, "I remember you've said this to me no less than thirty times."

Ling Wanqiu was speechless, looking at Jiang Chen with resentment. Can't you give me some face?

"Teacher, do I need to compensate for the damaged field?" Jiang Chen asked the teacher not far away.

"No need. But if you battle again, remember to go to a more advanced field. This kind of elementary field can't withstand the destruction of pseudo-legendary Pokémon."

The teachers shook their heads at Jiang Chen.

Arriving at the school's dedicated training ground, Jiang Chen arranged training for Squirtle.

"No pain, no gain. Only by enduring hardship can you become the top turtle. Squirtle, keep it up, start running!"

There were no shortcuts in stamina training. Fortunately, Jiang Chen's Squirtle had a very diligent personality. Most Pokémon were relatively motivated; there weren't many slacker Pokémon.

After half an hour of continuous fast running, Jiang Chen had Squirtle stop and fed it some Pokéblocks and nutritional supplements.

Actually, being a Pokémon trainer was a very expensive profession. Unless an ordinary family's trainer was exceptionally outstanding, able to participate in tournaments and win prize money, or get noticed by a corporation for sponsorship, it was very difficult for them to develop.

Because high-intensity training required nutritional supplements, many people couldn't afford the cost of raising Pokémon.

After resting for ten minutes, the exhausted and panting Squirtle recovered.

"Next, we practice moves."

Jiang Chen didn't teach Squirtle new moves; it was better to first master the ones it currently knew.

"Use Water Gun, hit the target in the distance."

After practicing for a whole morning, Jiang Chen rubbed his stomach, feeling a bit hungry.

Just as he was preparing to pack up and eat lunch, a lunchbox was handed to Jiang Chen.

Looking at the fair and slender palm before him, Jiang Chen looked up. An exquisite face entered Jiang Chen's eyes; it was Ling Wanqiu, who had battled him earlier.

"Thanks."

Jiang Chen didn't stand on ceremony and directly accepted the lunchbox Ling Wanqiu handed over.

The two of them were rivals, but their relationship was pretty good. However, it wasn't the romantic relationship that some classmates speculated about.

"Why did you choose Squirtle? I thought you would choose Charmander."

Ling Wanqiu tilted her head and looked at Jiang Chen.

To be honest, Ling Wanqiu was indeed beautiful. It was just that she was still too young and tender now; otherwise, Jiang Chen would definitely be very moved.

"Why would you think I'd choose Charmander?" Jiang Chen asked with a smile.

"Just a guess."

It was well known that Jiang Chen's father, Jiang Yuan, had a main Charizard, so many people guessed that Jiang Chen would choose Charmander.

Jiang Chen choosing Squirtle indeed surprised many people, including Ling Wanqiu.

"You chose Squirtle, is it because you don't want to follow your father's path and want to prove yourself?"

Outside, people often called Jiang Chen the son of an Elite Four member. For someone with high aspirations, they would prefer others to mention their name when talking about them, not just "son of an Elite Four member."

Ling Wanqiu was like this. She didn't want the title "daughter of an Elite Four member" to always accompany her; she preferred others to call her a genius trainer.

She was close to Jiang Chen because she felt they were kindred spirits. Clearly, they worked hard to study, but the achievements they obtained were seen as a matter of course in others' eyes.

In the eyes of others, you are the son (or daughter) of an Elite Four member, so you should be this strong.

Ling Wanqiu had two goals: one was to defeat Jiang Chen, and the other was to defeat her father, to prove that she didn't rely on the halo her father gave her.

"You're overthinking it."

Jiang Chen gave Ling Wanqiu a strange look. I didn't expect you to be able to imagine so much.

Unlike Ling Wanqiu, he didn't feel burdened by his identity. Wasn't it good to have an identity and background?

"I was indeed planning to choose Charmander before, but I feel this Squirtle has very high talent, so I chose Squirtle."

It wasn't that there were no channels to obtain a Charmander. A Squirtle with Elite Four potential couldn't be given up. Those with Elite Four level potential were one in ten thousand in their entire species.

"By the way, which Pokémon did you choose?"

"You don't know which Pokémon I chose?"

A surge of anger rose in Ling Wanqiu's heart. It felt as if the lunchbox she had kindly brought was fed to a dog.

She had always regarded Jiang Chen as a formidable rival, but this rival didn't seem to care about her at all, not even paying attention to which Pokémon she had chosen.

"Ahem, I didn't notice."

All this time, I thought you also cared about me as a rival. In the end, it was my unrequited feelings.

"I chose Charmander," Ling Wanqiu said sullenly.

"Oh, Charmander, huh? Very powerful."

Actually, among the starter Pokémon, Jiang Chen liked Charizard and Greninja the most. Liking them was one thing, but he was still very realistic.

Moreover, a Charmander with pseudo Elite Four potential probably wouldn't even make it into his second team in the future. As for buying items in the system to improve talent potential, those things were very expensive.

Unless absolutely necessary, Jiang Chen still wanted to save up points to buy Legendary Pokémon.

As long as he bought one Legendary Pokémon, he could soar to the heavens. As for training Pokémon to defeat and capture Legendary Pokémon, hehe, that would have to be in his next life.

In this world, only Legendary Pokémon could defeat Legendary Pokémon. For over two hundred years, there had never been a record of a Legendary Pokémon being defeated by an ordinary Pokémon.

Of course, no one dared to provoke Legendary Pokémon either.

"Jiang Chen, what is your goal?"

After composing herself, Ling Wanqiu looked at Jiang Chen and said.

"My goal?"

Jiang Chen wanted to say "capture Legendary Pokémon." Indeed, his dream was to capture Legendary Pokémon, but if he said this dream out loud, he would probably be ridiculed for being whimsical.

If it weren't for the system, his golden finger, he would have no chance in his entire life. But now, he truly had a chance.

Although Legendary Pokémon required many points, Jiang Chen was still young; he had time.

"My goal is to become Champion."

This could be considered Jiang Chen's goal after his dream of capturing Legendary Pokémon was shattered. At that time, the system hadn't awakened yet. Knowing that capturing Legendary Pokémon was impossible, his life goal changed to becoming Champion.

However, even the goal of becoming Champion was quite ambitious. The entire Xia Kingdom currently only had four Champions.

Ling Wanqiu didn't laugh at Jiang Chen's goal of becoming Champion as being whimsical. On the contrary, she felt that Jiang Chen could really achieve it in the future.

"What about you? What's your goal?"

"To defeat you, and to defeat my father."

Ling Wanqiu's tone was as firm as could be.

However, Jiang Chen was a bit speechless. Defeating him and defeating her own father? This was truly a "filial" daughter.

Actually, Ling Wanqiu wasn't dissatisfied with her father. On the contrary, her father doted on her very much. She wanted to defeat her father to prove herself.

"You think I can't do it?"

Seeing Jiang Chen's expression, Ling Wanqiu was a bit angry.

"Defeating your father is still possible, but defeating me is impossible," Jiang Chen said with a chuckle.

"You're really confident."

The corners of Ling Wanqiu's mouth curled up. However, she didn't dislike this kind of confidence, because she was also a confident person.
