Choosing a pseudo-legendary Pokémon was a bit of a dilemma. Pseudo-legendaries are basically capable of both offense and defense, far stronger than ordinary Pokémon.
Afflicted with decision paralysis, I decided to use elimination. First, I ruled out Goodra.
It's the only single-type pseudo-legendary, with only the Dragon-type attribute. If Goodra could gain a Water-type, it would be great, directly eliminating its Ice-type weakness.
Combined with the Dragon-type's resistance to Electric, Electric wouldn't be a weakness either, making it absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, Goodra is purely Dragon-type.
However, there was also the reason that Jiang Chen couldn't stand Goodra's sliminess.
Choosing Goodra would mean showering eight times a day.
Hydreigon was good. Although it wasn't handsome, its special attack was the highest among pseudo-legendaries.
But after some consideration, Jiang Chen ultimately chose Garchomp.
To be honest, he wanted Hydreigon, Garchomp, and Tyranitar, but he could only choose one. Of course, he'd pick his favorite among the three.
"Mom, I choose Garchomp."
With Garchomp chosen, all that was left was to wait for the Gible egg to be delivered.
"Garchomp is indeed a good choice," Xie Yulan nodded.
There were no bad pseudo-legendaries, including Goodra. There was also Kommo-o, which, upon its appearance, replaced Goodra's status as the "pseudo-legendary of shame" because reality isn't a game.
In games, data shows everything, but battles in reality aren't that simple.
However, Dragon/Fighting types (referring to Kommo-o's typing) are indeed weak to many types: Flying, Dragon, Ice, Fairy, and Psychic. Fairy-type deals 4x damage, making it a significant disadvantage in battle.
"At the Alliance's speed, it shouldn't be too slow. I estimate it will arrive in about three days."
"Ning Ya said you plan to go out to the wilderness tomorrow to catch Pokémon?" Xie Yulan asked.
"Yes."
Jiang Chen nodded. He had indeed mentioned it to Ning Ya earlier.
"Come out, Alakazam."
A yellow bipedal humanoid Pokémon appeared before Jiang Chen. It had a long mustache and held two spoons.
"I'm worried about your safety. Let Alakazam follow you. Alakazam, protect your young master well," Xie Yulan instructed Alakazam.
This Pokémon was one of Xie Yulan's main fighters, with the strength of a Level 9 Elite Trainer.
"Alright, thank you, Mom."
Jiang Chen knew that if he refused, his mother would definitely be worried. This was also her way of showing concern.
"I'm your mother, why are you thanking me? You're going to the wilderness tomorrow, so rest early."
Xie Yulan handed Alakazam's Poké Ball to Jiang Chen.
"After Mega Evolution, Alakazam's special attack is among the highest for non-legendary Pokémon. I'll also train an Alakazam in the future."
Jiang Chen murmured to himself as he looked at Alakazam.
Alakazam's special attack and speed were terrifying. Its only flaw was its fragility.
Jiang Chen had the Mysterious Stone Tablet, and he would definitely be able to train the strongest Alakazam.
"Alakazam, come here."
Waving his hand, Alakazam floated over to Jiang Chen. It felt something on Jiang Chen that was attracting it, as if it could make it stronger.
Jiang Chen took out the Mysterious Stone Tablet hanging around his neck.
"I know you've reached your limit, but this stone tablet might help you break through that limit. Experience it well."
Among his mother's Pokémon, the strongest in battle was Dragonite, which his father had given her. However, the Pokémon that had accompanied his mother the longest was Alakazam.
Alakazam couldn't break through to Champion-level because it was limited by its talent. The Mysterious Stone Tablet could break this limit, but he didn't know if Alakazam could succeed.
Alakazam also sensed the benefits of this stone tablet for it. It floated beside the tablet and closed its eyes.
The stronger it was, the more benefits it would gain from the Mysterious Stone Tablet. This was his mother's Pokémon, so it was family. Jiang Chen also hoped it could break its limits and reach Champion-level.
At this moment, the Mysterious Stone Tablet emitted a dazzling light, and Ralts and Beldum seemed to be affected as well.
Of course, this influence was a positive one.
Even Jiang Chen benefited, his mental power greatly increasing and his Aura Power significantly strengthening.
Unconsciously, Jiang Chen fell asleep. Dragonite and Squirtle were unaffected. They watched Jiang Chen worriedly. Dragonite, seeing that Jiang Chen's breathing was steady and he was just asleep, finally relaxed.
The next day, Jiang Chen opened his eyes, raised his hand, and Aura Power gathered into a sphere in his hand.
"I can use Aura Sphere?"
Thankfully, Jiang Chen managed to control his excitement and didn't release it casually, or his room would need redecorating.
Jiang Chen glanced at Ralts and Beldum and used his Investigation Eye. He found that Ralts's strength had increased from Normal Level 4 to Normal Level 7.
Beldum's strength had increased from Normal Level 5 to Normal Level 8. With the improvement in his Pokémon's strength, Jiang Chen gained another 600 points.
"With the Mysterious Stone Tablet's assistance, the progress in strength is indeed quite terrifying."
Jiang Chen glanced at Squirtle, feeling a bit sorry for it. It had worked so hard to raise its strength to Normal Level 2, while Ralts and Beldum just lay there and gained strength.
"It seems you succeeded, Alakazam."
He used Investigation Eye on Alakazam.
[Alakazam]
Gender: Male
Strength: Elite Trainer Level 9
Talent Potential: Champion
Attribute: Psychic
Ability: Magic Guard
Moves: Confusion, Teleport, Psybeam, Psycho Cut, Recover, Future Sight...
Its strength hadn't broken through, but its talent had increased from Elite Trainer to Champion, which meant Alakazam now had the qualification to break through to Champion-level.
However, breaking through to Champion-level still required time.
Alakazam's gaze towards Jiang Chen held closeness. It also knew that the thing that had been limiting it had broken, and all of this was brought by Jiang Chen.
Of course, closeness was one thing, but this didn't mean Alakazam would betray its master and follow Jiang Chen. One should not underestimate the loyalty of Pokémon.
"Keep up the good work. I hope you can break through to Champion-level."
The gap in strength between Champion and Elite Trainer was immense. A Level 1 Champion-level Pokémon could defeat six Level 9 Elite Trainer Pokémon, even if they were tied together, they would be no match.
