The storm never left the City of Silver. It lived above the sky like a judgmental God, veiling the heavens in iron clouds and rumbling reminders. Thunder was as common as breathing here. The amount of lightning strikes that appeared told you whether it was night or day.
Rain like whispers from ancient voices tapped against rooftops, never sleeping.
Beneath this sky, in a cottage house nestled at the edge of the outer ring—just close enough to hear the distant calls of the tower sentries—lived a girl who did not belong.
Capella.
She had golden hair that curled unnaturally, like licks of flame. Her violet eyes shimmered even in the dark, pupils sometimes narrowing into slits when no one was watching.
She also possessed a sort of inhuman beauty, with her looking like an exact replica of her mother with her father's eyes. But she always gave off an eerie feeling to her.
It unsettled all of the other children. And what could be described as her 'anti-social' tendencies did not help either. But could you blame her, she was a grown man trapped in a three-year old girl's body who was forced to hang around children.
This experience would drive anybody (but a certain type of people) mad!
'A specific reincarnation show comes to mind. I'm talking about you Quagmire.'
And Kaito himself hadn't quickly adapted to the situation too well either.
He hadn't spoken for days when he realized who he was.
And who he wasn't.
When the day came where he had enough strength, and could finally sit up and look at his own body - he was horrified by what had happened to himself.
'What The Fuck!'
It had taken months for the horror to truly set in.
'I'm...Capella. Why God, I never did anything wrong and always helped the old grannies cross the street. What did I do to deserve this punishment?'
The situation was unthinkable. Blasphemous. He had worshipped her, obsessed over every clip, every line of her dialogue. Joined every fan forum. Argued in comment sections. She was divine, an embodiment of sin, seduction, beauty, and power.
He had wanted to be with her. Not become her.
Now he was in a child's body. Her body.
And his mind? Still his and still male. Still Kaito. And that duality clawed at him every time he caught a glimpse of himself in the polished silver of the washbasin or a reflection from any metal.
'It's not fair.'
The tears never came anymore. They had, once upon a time though. Quietly, in the nights when Gareth was out on patrol and Lara was fast asleep with Mila beside her. Kaito had pressed his tiny fists into his eyes and wept into the sheets. Mourning this world. Mourning her.
But it was different now.
He no longer mourned Capella. Because he was her.
The sooner he had accepted it, the more control over him...herself she regained. And more troubling yet… the more natural it felt.
As she shifted her control from lamenting her predicament to trying to figure out whatever world she had been sent too, her understanding of it grew more and more.
First off, her mom was drop dead hot. If she had been in Kaito's old world, then she probably could have been a model. And her dad wasn't too bad looking himself, with him also having the probability of competing on 'Mr. Universe'.
She had come to find out their names were Lara and Gareth respectively.
Capella had realized she had been dealt a better deal in parents than her last set however.
They actually seemed to care for her and didn't mind when she made 'accidents' purposely.
Even when she had said her first word being something lewd, or when she mustered the strength to take her first steps, never has she felt so much love and attention from two people. Well three if you include the maid, but she's always strict with me so she doesn't count.
"Come on Capella, its time for Mommy and Daddy to read you a bedtime story!"
Capella had been practicing in secret on her pronunciation in Jotun to surprise her parents at a random moment and she felt this was the best time.
"I'm coming soon!" She said mimicking her parents' tone.
Lara, Gareth, and Mila's mouth all fell agape at the same time. In the City Of Silver, kids usually would be at least three or four for their language to be this good, but Capella had surpassed that age standard by two years!
"What can we expect, our daughter has been blessed by the Original Creator himself! It's only natural she's this smart." Gareth said with a sly smile on his face, rubbing the part under his nose with a finger.
For once, Capella had felt at peace with her life for the time being. Even the language was fully starting to make sense to her. But that's where it all went wrong.
She had learned it around her second birthday.
In her mother's lap while feeding, she had noticed somebody refer to their home as the City Of Silver.
'City Of Silver? Why does that name sound so familiar?'
Capella couldn't pinpoint where she had heard that name before so she decided to forget about it for the time being.
The following days that came were great, with her father not returning for some of them, but when he did return he always arrived with treats and weird twisted fairy tale stories - recalling them as if they had actually happened to him.
One time he had even said that he ran into a spider-monster that devoured two of his companions.
'If he thinks these are good bedtime stories, than he really needs to go hit up some parenting classes.' She secretly lampooned.
That night, when Capella was put into her crib, she was reflecting on all of the stories her father had told, and suddenly the name of this city entered her mind, and the online forum post she had seen it on back on Earth as Kaito.
It was titled 'Everything Mysteries'.
'City Of Silver, Everything Mysteries. Mysteries...wait a second...' Then it finally came to her.
'Was I reincarnated into Lord Of The Mysteries?' What the hell!'
'I only actually read like four or five chapters, so why am I here? Is this some pathetic attempt at a joke God?'
Although Kaito had never read the actual book, he still heard of the dangers the protagonist: Klein Moretti, had faced.
Killers, monsters, angels, Gods, Living Concepts! This world was filled with dangers left and right, where even thinking about the wrong thing could get you killed.
He hadn't seen the girls in that book, but he just made an assumption they couldn't compare to the beauties in Re:Zero.
'If I was sent to such a dangerous place, I must have been giving something like a special protagonist power. Maybe its a system that starts if I call it out loud.'
She spoke in English but made sure to put her voice barely above that of a whisper, as to not alarm her parents she knew another language.
"System."
...no response.
'Maybe I have to say it three times in a row.'
"System. System. System!"
...Still no response.
'Fuck! How the hell do you expect me to survive in this world with just the body of Capella?'
As he thought about it some more, he realized he had been an idiot this whole time.
As a fan-fiction reader who specialized in reading ones with a reincarnation, the first thought that should have come into his head was whether or not he had been equipped with Capella's Authority of Lust!
'But how would I check to see if I had it , and if I do have it what's the activation method?'
Then an idea that was way too simple and easy came into Capella's brain.
'There was no way the activation for it could be just saying the name. Or maybe not?'
She hesitantly stood straight up and contorted into a half backbend pose with her hands waved above her, mimicking one of the poses the original Capella had made in the show. Her cheeks ferociously blushing as she did so.
'This is so embarrassing .'
She then took a deep inhale and shouted with all of her being.
"Lust!"
...Again nothing happened.
'I should have known this would be a fail -'
"AHHHHHHHH" A guttural scream echoed in her room.
Pure pain and agony surged all over her body.
It felt as if something was coming alive inside of her and was ripping its way out.
Her eyes quickly dyed red with her pupils contracting. Her flesh began to melt off of her skin and burn holes onto the bed sheets.
The very bones in her body started to break and reform, in one tortuous cycle. Then, her stomach could no longer bear it.
All of the contents of today's lunchtime were all on the mattress.
"somebody...please. help...me"
This was all she could conjure up from her throat before her knees buckled and caved in, and she swiftly lost consciousness.
