Casually glancing at it, he slipped it into his backpack.
No matter what the name was, becoming an adventurer fulfilled Paimon's wish, and that was enough.
When Paimon saw Shao Yun officially become an adventurer, she looked as excited as a chubby little bird that had just caught a delicious fish.
She jumped joyfully in the air, filled with excitement and delight.
"Shao Yun, congratulations on officially becoming an adventurer!"
Shao Yun tapped her on the head, trying to calm her down. This wasn't anything too thrilling—forget his own abilities, with the two of them recommending him, passing the test was practically a formality.
"Let's not talk about that. What arrangements did you guys make?" Shao Yun looked at Lumine and asked what they had discussed while he was away.
But Shao Yun shifted the topic too quickly, and Lumine didn't catch on, showing a puzzled expression.
"What arrangements?"
Shao Yun pointed in the direction of Angel's Share, and with that gesture, Lumine instantly understood.
"Oh, when you ran off after that Fatui member, Venti told us to meet at the tavern in two days."
The moment he heard it would be two more days, Shao Yun felt tortured. It was like needing to use the bathroom after class, but the teacher insisted on finishing a long, boring math problem first.
"Do we really have to wait two days?" No sooner had Shao Yun spoken than he seemed to think of something. He moved Lumine a bit farther from Katheryne and whispered, "Can't let outsiders hear this."
Seeing Shao Yun being so cautious and acting like it was a matter of national security, Lumine couldn't help but find it a bit amusing. His expression was so serious, it looked like he was handling a top-secret mission, but the actual topic was nowhere near that heavy.
"Shao Yun, relax a little." Lumine chuckled softly. "It's not what you think. Acting Grand Master Jean can't be out for long, and Master Diluc has business at his winery. They need two days to make arrangements. It's actually a great chance for us to go on an adventure."
Hearing this, Shao Yun relaxed a bit, albeit a little awkwardly. "So that's it. I thought you were worried Katheryne might leak the secret."
But then his expression turned a bit more serious. "Although it's called adventuring, isn't it just running errands and getting paid? Mondstadt doesn't seem to have many places left to explore."
Lumine opened her hands slightly, wearing a resigned but calm smile. She said softly, "We can't just keep hanging around Amber's place. We have to find something to do to make the time more meaningful."
"Alright then, let's see what commissions are available."
As the three of them were focused on selecting suitable commissions, a lively and cheerful voice suddenly rang out from a distance.
"Lumine, Paimon, and Shao Yun!" The voice was full of surprise and relief.
The trio looked up toward the source of the voice.
They saw Amber running toward them at a brisk pace, panting heavily.
"Finally found you guys!" Amber bent over, hands on her knees, completely out of breath, like she'd just finished a debate match without any break.
"Amber, what brings you here?" Lumine stepped forward to support her, worried she might collapse the next second.
Shao Yun looked at Amber, his eyes full of confusion. She looked slightly worn out, clearly from some exertion. He asked, "We were only gone for a night. Amber, you're not that worried about us, are you?"
Amber took a couple deep breaths and explained, "I was a little worried, yes. But I came to find you because of something else."
Shao Yun waited for Amber to continue. She paused, as if organizing her thoughts, then pulled out a pair of oversized Wind Gliders from her pocket and handed them to him.
"Here, Shao Yun, these are your Wind Gliders. Try them on and see if they fit."
He carefully accepted the gliders and strapped them to his back. They were only slightly small for him but still usable.
"Thanks for going out of your way, Amber. They're great."
Amber furrowed her brows, looking slightly troubled. She stared intently at Shao Yun, puzzled.
These were the largest Wind Gliders in the warehouse, yet they still didn't seem quite right on him.
"How can that be? Is it my imagination, or are they a bit small?" Amber muttered to herself.
Shao Yun shrugged, fluttering the gliders on his back, and reassured her. "It's fine, Amber. To find a pair of gliders that really suit me, we'd probably need the wings Daedalus or Icarus used."
"Daedalus? Icarus? Who are they?" Amber rubbed her chin, curious.
Realizing he had said too much, Shao Yun quickly changed the subject.
"It's nothing. Anyway, Amber, I doubt you came all this way just to deliver gliders. There's something else, right?"
Amber seemed to remember something and nodded.
"Yeah, actually there are two things." She held up two fingers in front of them.
"First, the flight license test. You need a license to fly within Mondstadt City."
At the mention of a test, Amber's tone grew serious.
"Neither of you have taken the flying exam, right?"
Hearing that there was a test, Lumine looked surprised.
"There's a test?" she murmured, a bit nervous.
"Don't worry. With your skills, you'll pass for sure." Amber gave her a thumbs-up. She was confident in Lumine's abilities—this test would be a formality.
That was the first thing. What was the second?
Shao Yun asked, and at the mention, Amber let out a long sigh, clearly troubled.
"The Knights are chasing a repeat offender known as the 'Stormterror Bandit.' He's really strong. We tried luring him with an antique at the Favonius Cathedral, even had a bunch of knights on the job, but still failed."
Paimon burst into laughter upon hearing the name.
"Haha! Stormterror Bandit? What a silly name!"
Unlike Paimon, Amber was visibly annoyed.
"He's a thief who loves using Wind Gliders, often committing crimes in Mondstadt. That's why we call him that."
Hearing the word often, Shao Yun was surprised—what kind of master thief could succeed so many times and still not get caught?
"Not even once?"
Faced with his skepticism, Amber pressed her lips together, trying to stay composed.
"Most of the knights aren't very skilled with Wind Gliders, and I've been away on missions so..."
Ah, wrong battlefield. The Stormterror Bandit took advantage of his aerial edge, which explained his success.
Just as Shao Yun was feeling helpless over Amber's frustrations, the system, ever the opportunist, popped up.
[Mission Update: Capture the Stormterror Bandit solo.]
You piece of junk, you think I'm just sitting around bored? Do I look like a wish-granting spirit? Alone? Are you serious?
[Mission Reward: Mount system unlocked.]
Now that's more like it!
...
With such a tempting reward, Shao Yun would be willing to do just about anything, even torch the Goth Grand Hotel at the risk of being wanted.
All he needed now was a good excuse. Fortunately, one had just been handed to him.
"Amber, you've got both a test and a manhunt to deal with. How about this—you go supervise Lumine's flight test, and I'll take care of the bandit."
Shao Yun's "kind offer" of help came off differently to Amber—she thought he was just trying to dodge the test and immediately objected.
"You're taking the test too!"
Already anticipating this reaction, he quickly showed off his muscular build.
"I jump off Starsnatch Cliff and open the glider? Best case scenario, I leave behind an intact corpse. Do you really think I'm fit for this test? Let's not."
Amber thought for a moment. He had a point.
Flight tests required actual flight. If he couldn't even stay airborne, there was no point.
"Uh... you have a point. I didn't expect the gliders to be mere keepsakes for you."
"Heh, keepsakes are fine. I'm not that into flying anyway."
Shao Yun rubbed his shoulder casually, a look of nonchalance on his face.
"But even if I can't fly, catching a flying thief sounds fun too. I'd like to see what kind of guy even the Knights can't catch."
Just as he was about to set off, Katheryne held up a commission slip and called out:
"If you're going after the Stormterror Bandit, here's a commission that matches. Just came in."
Oh? What are the odds?
Taking the slip, he looked it over. Curiously, he asked, "Since when did the Adventurers' Guild handle criminal captures? I thought that was strictly the Knights' job."
Katheryne pondered a moment before replying.
"The Knights do sometimes post missions to the Guild—usually minor tasks like cargo transport. But capturing a criminal? That's never part of our duties."
She pointed at the commission slip in Shao Yun's hand.
"This one's a private request. A merchant whose antique was stolen by the bandit submitted it."
Hearing this, Amber looked down sheepishly. She hadn't realized the bandit had caused such a stir.
Shao Yun eyed the commission slip. The reward was only 100,000 Mora. So stingy...
Still, considering the mount was the real goal, the money didn't matter. But one thing did.
"I get the situation. Just tell me—does he have to be taken alive?"
In other words—can I kill him and just bring back the body?
The words sent a chill through the air, freezing the group into stunned silence. A wave of tension and shock filled the space.
Katheryne's brain nearly short-circuited. How can someone say something so cold with such a calm face?
She looked to Amber to make the call.
"He must be taken alive! We still need to interrogate him about the stolen artifact!" she said, then added, "It was marked with a nun's elemental magic. Since you have a Vision, you should be able to see the elemental traces."
With the necessary intel received and the questline triggered, Shao Yun could go all out.
He waved to the three beside him and said calmly, "Alright then. I'll bring him back alive."
Just as he finished, he suddenly winked mischievously, the corners of his lips lifting into a sly grin. "Or a half-dead living corpse."
Amber's mouth twitched. Somehow, she didn't feel any reassurance from his words—she even started feeling a little sorry for the bandit.
"He has to be alive! And try not to beat him so badly he can't even talk!"
"Don't worry. With me on the job, even a statue would spill its secrets. I'll make sure he confesses every single bad thing he's done since childhood."
