After Matthew's arrest, Sisi took Su Yuntao back to the Spirit Hall. No one dared to object.
At the very moment Bibi Dong and her group entered the Spirit Hall in Notting City, Su Yuntao and Sisi immediately sensed something was off.
No one spoke, yet an invisible pressure suddenly filled the vast hall, suffusing the air with an oppressive weight.
The woman leading the group appeared to be around thirty years old. Her near-flawless beauty made Sisi feel ashamed just from a single glance.
A powerful aura radiated from her, and no one dared to meet her gaze directly.
After Bibi Dong announced her identity, Su Yuntao and Sisi grew even more nervous. The Matthew incident was entirely Sisi's doing; they had been uneasy ever since the law enforcers arrived that morning.
Fortunately, the enforcers hadn't investigated Matthew's case closely—they simply took him away, which was a relief.
But to their surprise, only a few hours later, the highest ruler of the Spirit Hall himself, His Holiness the Pope, personally came to this small place called Notting City.
Sisi quickly invited Bibi Dong and the others to sit in the most sacred hall inside the Spirit Hall.
"Your Holiness, may I ask what instructions you have for the Notting City branch?" Sisi asked boldly.
Bibi Dong smiled gently, and instantly, the heavy pressure pressing down on everyone lessened significantly.
"You don't need to be nervous. I'm not here to punish anyone—I just want to meet that child named Jiang Chen."
Su Yuntao and the other officials finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Who among you is Su Yuntao?" Bibi Dong's eyes scanned the officials.
Su Yuntao's heart leapt. He stepped forward with purpose and respectfully said, "Your Holiness, I am Su Yuntao."
"Tell me again, in detail, about the moment that child awakened. Don't leave out a single detail," Bibi Dong's voice was soft and pleasant, like a gentle spring breeze.
Su Yuntao's nervousness quickly melted away as he recounted the strange phenomena during Jiang Chen's awakening.
The elders who accompanied Bibi Dong had never seen the report before, but hearing Su Yuntao's description made them understand the purpose of this visit immediately.
One elder couldn't help but speak up, "Your Holiness, what this official describes sounds too absurd and hard to believe. I think he may have exaggerated."
Feeling challenged, Su Yuntao panicked slightly but hurried to explain, "Your Holiness, I swear what I said is true. If you don't believe me, you can send someone to the Sacred Soul Village to confirm."
"Don't be nervous," Bibi Dong said, reaching out and gently calming him. Su Yuntao felt his emotions stabilize.
"Where is the child now?"
"Your Holiness, he's currently in Notting City, studying at the Junior Soul Master Academy."
"Good. Nana, you and Su Yuntao will go fetch that child," Bibi Dong instructed Hulena, who stood by her side.
Hulena was her newly accepted disciple, someone she favored greatly and intended to cultivate.
"Yes, Teacher," Hulena answered respectfully and followed Su Yuntao out.
"Your Holiness, do you really believe that child possesses a God-level Spirit?" the elder couldn't help but ask.
"Whether he does or doesn't, we'll find out soon enough," Bibi Dong smiled. "Elder Gui, secretly follow Nana to prevent any accidents."
"Yes," the elder replied.
...
Su Yuntao and Hulena walked down the busy street toward the Junior Soul Master Academy in Notting City.
Hulena was ahead, while Su Yuntao trailed slightly behind. He had just overheard that this girl actually called the Pope "Teacher."
That was the Pope's disciple! Such a prestigious identity made Su Yuntao careful not to offend her in any way.
Even though Hulena's beauty surpassed Sisi's, and she naturally exuded an alluring aura, Su Yuntao dared not entertain any impure thoughts. Instead, he forced himself to think constantly of Sisi's face.
Suddenly, Hulena turned back and smiled at Su Yuntao. "Are you afraid of me?"
Su Yuntao was momentarily stunned, then quickly shook his head, too nervous to reply.
"You're really interesting," Hulena laughed lightly and stopped paying him any attention.
After a while, the two finally arrived at Notting Academy.
"Miss Hulena, we're here," Su Yuntao reminded, stepping forward and showing his Spirit Hall official badge.
The gatekeeper respectfully opened the door after checking the badge and allowed them inside.
"It's afternoon now; the students should all be in their dormitories," Su Yuntao said.
He was once a student here himself and was very familiar with the academy.
There were seven student dormitories in total. Work-study students had always lived in Dorm Seven, a tradition unchanged for years.
Su Yuntao walked confidently to the door of Dorm Seven and knocked politely.
"May I ask, is Jiang Chen here?" he inquired courteously.
"Official Su Yuntao, what brings you here?" A chorus of excited voices greeted him, many of the children looking at him with admiration.
They were all work-study students from the village, nearly all awakened by Su Yuntao himself, so naturally, they recognized him.
Tang San also came out, surprised. "Official Su Yuntao, what business do you have with Jiang Chen?"
Though several months had passed, Su Yuntao still recognized Tang San.
"I have some matters to discuss with him. Do you know where he is?" Su Yuntao asked, his eyes scanning the dormitory but failing to spot Jiang Chen.
Tang San nodded. "He should be in the small grove near the back gate of the academy."
"Hmm, thank you," Su Yuntao said briskly, turning to leave.
Has Su Yuntao still not given up on recruiting Jiang Chen into the Spirit Hall? Tang San thought to himself.
...
By now, a crowd of students had gathered at the foot of the dormitory building, their eyes shining as they stared fixedly at Hulena standing at the entrance.
She was stunning—there wasn't a single girl in the entire academy more beautiful than her.
None of these students had ever seen someone so breathtaking; their eyes didn't dare to blink as they gazed intently at Hulena.
Su Yuntao came out and led Hulena away.
In the small grove, Jiang Chen sat cross-legged atop a large rock, channeling his energy to heal the wounds on his body.
The injuries elsewhere didn't matter much, but his face was a different story. Once proud to be the most handsome young boy, now he was a pockmarked mess covered in large, purple bruises. The frustration in his heart was indescribable.
Just then, footsteps approached. Jiang Chen opened his eyes warily.
Two figures appeared in his line of sight—one was the familiar Su Yuntao, and the other was an extraordinarily beautiful girl.
Jiang Chen admitted to himself that in both his past life and this one, he had never seen a girl as beautiful as her.
And it wasn't just her looks; there was a unique aura about her that set her apart.
A jolt ran through his heart. Could it be that Su Yuntao has already discovered I'm not dead?
Lost in thought, Jiang Chen didn't notice Su Yuntao had already come to stand before him.
Looking at the boy whose face was covered with swollen purple bruises, Su Yuntao was surprised, but still smiled warmly and asked, "Young one, do you know where Jiang Chen is?"
