Chapter 27: Carnival of Chaos and Destruction

The nightmare sky cracked open.

Twisting beasts stalked the ruins. The very air felt cursed — thick with fear, magic, and blood. From the hilltop, five figures stood like hunters in the dark.

Marlo's voice was calm, too calm.

"I used Ghost Thread on Chester back when we were still allies. It's been quietly feeding me his location. Always."

The others glanced at him — Vex, the Destruction Pillar wielder, bloodthirsty and twitching. Torren, whose Soul Pillar flared faintly with aura. Lysa, her eyes calm, mind ticking like a machine. And then... Riven, the enigmatic wielder of the Chaos Pillar, silent and unreadable.

"He's close," Marlo said, smirking. "And guess what? He's alone."

They descended from the ridge — five against one.

And there he was.

Chester. Standing amidst the horror. Wind tearing at his cloak, sword in hand, mask gleaming. He looked like a ghost at the heart of a storm.

No Veyla. No Keen. No backup.

Just him.

Lysa frowned. "Where are the others?"

Chester tilted his head slightly, speaking in that too-calm voice.

"You came. Took you long enough."

Torren narrowed his eyes. "Where's your team, 'Lord of Luck'?"

Chester chuckled, low and strange.

"They're exactly where they need to be. Just like you are."

He turned slightly. From the shadows stepped Riven.

But he didn't stand with the others.

He stood beside Chester.

Marlo's eyes widened. "...Wait."

Chester gestured lazily with his blade. "You all believed I was just fumbling around. A clown. A fool. You saw what I wanted you to see."

Riven's voice broke the silence. "And I played my part."

"You WHAT?!" Lysa snapped, backing up.

Chester's voice softened. "This whole time, I was never alone. I just wore the mask."

Riven nodded. "We both desired chaos. But not the same kind."

Then, without warning, Riven rammed his bare hand through Chester's back.

Blood sprayed.

Chester gasped, mouth agape. The sword slipped from his fingers and hit the ground with a dull clang.

"You were useful," Riven whispered. "But your chaos was… too controlled."

Chester collapsed, motionless.

Marlo's jaw dropped. "You... you betrayed him too?!"

Riven turned to the others, cracking his neck.

"I never wanted order. Not even strategic chaos. I wanted to unleash."

Vex stepped forward, laughing maniacally. "NOW that's what I like to hear."

He lifted his hand — pulsing with terrifying force.

"Crackpoint Impact. A single touch — total obliteration."

He aimed straight at Marlo.

Riven raised both arms wide and roared, his voice echoing through the crimson skies:

> "Let the Carnival of Chaos and Destruction begin!"

Thunder crashed. The monsters screamed louder. And Chester's blood stained the nightmare ground.

End of Chapter 27.
