Sylus paid attention to every single screen circling around him.
Though he was floating in an endless space with nothing to rest his feet on, he could still turn around with ease.
This was how he managed to turn towards the screen that caught his attention first.
[SUMMONS.]
Just as the writing had hinted, it was supposed to allow him to have access to a wide range of summons.
The only people who were known to have summons were the witches of the west, as they were called.
So, seeing this came as quite a surprise to him.
'Having a summon doesn't sound so bad. Although, I don't know how this works.'
Staring at the screen for a while, Sylus decided to make hand contact with it after yelling a bunch of words and nothing happened.
As soon as he touched the screen, a rush of light swallowed him whole, similar to how he ended up in this place to begin with.
In a fraction of a second, Sylus was in a different location; darkness still surrounded him, and he was still floating in the air.
But he could see towers stretching from the sky all the way down to the pit of darkness.
In front of him, a new screen.
[Summons are now available.]
[Pull for summon.]
(3 Karma points.)
'Oh…'
It was fairly easy to understand.
Sylus did as the screen asked and pulled for a summon.
[3 Karma points have been deducted.]
[Congratulations…you have pulled for nothing.]
Sylus was stunned.
'Did I just get scammed?'
Nothing was handed to him, nothing except the message of his failure.
He decided to try again, since the pull cost 3 Karma points, he could afford to do a few more.
Or so he thought.
(7 Karma points.)
'It increased?! Dang, I really did get scammed.'
From the little he had seen, he figured the price would keep increasing with each pull, similar to the workings of a casino.
Since the limit of the Karma points he could earn was 50, the pull would mostly be maxed at that.
'Let's try again.'
He clicked the button.
[7 Karma points have been deducted.]
[Congratulations…you have pulled for a summon.]
[Alie, the Raven of Sight.] Description: Alie is a creature born from the essence of sight; she can boost your mana and also track anything from a far distance.
Now, he was left with no Karma points, but at least he got the summon.
The summon in question was a black small bird, no bigger than the size of his hand.
It had a red beak, and its eyes were slim yet wide with a shade of green.
'A bird…'
Sylus sighed, leaving the fact he doesn't have good experience with birds; he was expecting something of a dragon or a beast snake.
It didn't take him long to get over it and move on to the rest of the screens.
Since he had no Karma points, he couldn't pull for anything, but they all seemed to have the same working patterns.
The only difference was the Divine Blessing was strictly 50 Karma points and nothing less.
Sylus was now back in his physical body, his back resting on the bed with his small legs curled under the blanket.
Sleeping beside him was Zani, her small hands holding his finger.
'How long was I out for? Ugh, I feel like I've been working for hours.'
Little did he know, entering the Karma shop used a lot of mental energy, and for a kid, he barely had any.
And like that, Sylus also passed out on the bed, sleeping close to Zani.
…
Sylus' eyes snapped open.
The first thing he did was look to the side, his eyes picking up on the sun rays that were slipping through his room's window.
And then his eyes fell on the bed; Zani was no longer there.
'I slept off!'
He jerked up from the bed and sat upright.
Almost immediately, he saw Zani kneeling on the ground and folding some clothes.
Well, that, and it took him quite a while to even know it was her.
Her black hair looked longer, and for a girl who was the same age as him, she seemed to have grown taller too.
The biggest factor of all was the amount of mana leaking from her body. She definitely didn't have this much before.
"Zani?"
Sylus called out just to be sure.
Answering his call, Zani turned around to look at him.
"Your Highness, you're awake."
At that moment, Sylus understood what the system meant by upgrade and evolution.
The girl that once looked so poor and unkempt was now radiating an aura that would make her stand close to those of royalty with ease.
'By the gods, I didn't see this coming.'
Sylus was too stunned to speak; he could only stand there and stare.
Zani hastily stood up and walked up to him.
"Are you alright? Your Highness looks pale."
"I'm just…surprised."
Even as she stood close to him, he could see how tall she had gotten.
"Surprised?" Zani tilted her head to the side in confusion.
"Don't worry about it…"
Sylus turned his gaze to the folded clothes on the ground.
"What were you doing?" he asked.
"Uhm…a maid came here, Your Highness; she said His Majesty wants you to come have breakfast with him this morning. So I thought I should help you pick out your clothes like Mother taught me."
'Yeah, but you're five. Sigh!'
He leaped down from the bed.
Although he didn't expect to sleep the whole day until the next morning, it was still a good thing.
If his father was calling for him to come have breakfast with him specifically, it meant he was going there for an interview, as he would call it.
In other words, whatever happens at breakfast would determine how his father would treat him once the trial for the throne starts.
"You should also get ready; you'll be coming with me," Sylus uttered as he walked away.
Zani merely bowed her head in response.
It was normal for a Mystero to follow their master everywhere.
That didn't erase the fact Zani would rather not do it.
