Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: I'm Here to Take You Home

Blocked by a group of reporters in the presidential suite, Bella Green lay on the ground, curled up, her face as pale as paper, and the pain in her abdomen almost made her faint.

But no matter how much it hurt, it couldn't compare to the pain in her heart that felt as if it was being torn apart alive.

"Bella Green, when it comes to you, I really don't know whether to be angry or to laugh. After all these years, you still shamelessly pine for my man. But you've got to be quite the romantic, willing to hand over the entire Bennett Family. I really have to thank you for that."

"What did Mason do in his past life to deserve this—dig a grave for a family with no heirs or kick a widow's door? To think he married you, and you emptied out the whole family business. To be honest, I almost feel sorry for him, hahaha."

"Bella Green, you can't blame us for being ruthless. As long as you're alive, Anna and I can't securely own the Bennett family fortune. Since you love him so much, you must be delighted to fulfill our wishes."

"As a parting gift, I'll give you a big headline: Mrs. Bennett dies suddenly in a hotel after a night with a gigolo, doing drugs. Do you think the reporters will like it?"

The woman's coquettish, smug voice echoed in her ears like a spell she couldn't shake off. Bella Green glared with hatred, biting her gums until blood oozed, wishing she could rush out right now and tear Anna Green and Vivian Thornecroft to pieces.

But having drunk the poisoned wine, even moving was a luxury at this moment.

Over the years, she married Mason Bennett, schemed endlessly to get him to transfer Nathan Bennett Group to her name, only to turn around and hand it over to Vivian Thornecroft with both hands.

She even foolishly thought that without Nathan Bennett Group, Mason Bennett would no longer have the means to control her, allowing her to divorce him and be with Vivian Thornecroft.

But now it seemed like she had been played for a fool by Anna Green and Vivian Thornecroft all along.

If it weren't for them offering her hope, making her believe Vivian Thornecroft loved her.

Blaming it on Mason Bennett's domineering nature, forcibly marrying her, was why they couldn't be together. Would she have done such ridiculous things?

The pain in her body wasn't as strong anymore, but her consciousness was nearing dissolution. In the presidential suite, the smell of gas was emanating from the kitchen, growing stronger and stronger.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside the door, and with a crash, the door to the presidential suite was kicked open.

Bella Green squinted her eyes, looking at the tall figure at the door. Despite the backlight, she recognized him instantly.

The man who occupied the spouse column on her registration, Mason Bennett.

As the door opened, the noise became clearer, with each question making Bella Green wish she could die of shame.

"Mr. Bennett, are you here to catch your wife in the act with a gigolo?"

"Mr. Bennett, this isn't Mrs. Bennett's first indiscretion. Do you plan to divorce her?"

Mason Bennett walked into the room, closed the door, cutting off the piercing questions.

Bella Green, with reddened eyes, watched the man approach her and squat down.

She looked away in distress, refusing to meet his gaze, struggling to say a few words: "Why are you here?"

The man's handsome lips pursed slightly, his face devoid of expression, his eyes as deep as ever, without anger, without resentment...

"I've come to take you home."

Take you home...

Such a simple sentence, but at this moment, it was enough to make Bella Green break down.

She opened her mouth wide, her throat so tight it hurt, yet unable to utter a sound, as tears like beads rolled down.
