Chapter 36 - Melodramatic Skin

"Zhiwu..."

"Is it you who came looking for me?"

In the underground warehouse, the cement churned and shifted.

Outside, the noise was loud. Yu Yinghua crawled out from the muddy ground. When she saw Wu Xian and the others, she first shook her head in disappointment, then a cruel smile slowly appeared on her lips.

Every night, Yu Yinghua crawled out from the cement to help Wang Zhiwu search for signs of any survivors.

She believed that as long as she kept doing this—continuously dedicating herself to Wang Zhiwu—he would eventually have a conscience. He would regret what he did to her and come find her to apologize.

So all she wanted was for Wang Zhiwu to come looking for her.

As for the others...

Anyone who came onto her turf had better forget about going home again!

Yu Yinghua stood in the shadows, waiting for these weak, foolish humans—who still carried a faint but pleasant scent—to step into the cement trap she had meticulously prepared.

She wouldn't soften the cement at first. Instead, she'd wait until they reached the center of the warehouse, then turn the cement floor into a quagmire. That way, even if they wanted to escape, they couldn't.

But for some unknown reason, the humans remained motionless.

"Since everything's ready, let's get started."

Accompanied by a somewhat mocking male voice, Yu Yinghua suddenly heard the click of a switch. Then a piercing light shone inside, blinding her almost completely.

"Is that sunlight?"

Yu Yinghua immediately wanted to flee, but quickly realized the light came from an electric lamp.

But the supermarket and nearby shops had long lost power—so why was there a light on?

The answer was simple: it was a searchlight.

Because the distance was too far and the lamp required high power, plugging it in with multiple extension cords risked power loss and safety hazards. To be absolutely safe, Wen Chao had hand-twisted an extra-long extension cord from thick wires.

With that, they could draw power from elsewhere.

Not wanting to reveal herself, Yu Yinghua flattened her face and submerged her body deeper into the cement, exposing only her face to watch the humans' movements.

Soon she saw three figures, each carrying huge water tanks on their backs, walking to the edge of the warehouse. They raised long stick-like devices.

Yu Yinghua wondered, "What are they trying to do now?"

Before she could figure it out, three powerful sprays of mist burst from the nozzles, dousing Yu Yinghua's face. The cement covering her face was partially washed away.

The sprayers were found at a hardware store.

The liquid they sprayed was a solvent Wen Chao had mixed using cement hardener as the base. When it landed on Yu Yinghua, it made her feel incredibly uncomfortable.

The mist sprayed out quickly.

Wu Xian and the other two returned to the ground, each pulling two bags.

Yu Yinghua's anger flared—she suddenly leapt out of the cement.

These humans just wouldn't quit!

How could I, a great wandering evil spirit, possibly let you get away with this?

By her experience, except for sickos like Fang Zhi, any normal human who saw her form would be terrified beyond belief.

But just as she straightened up, a bag was thrown at her face, bursting open and covering her in white powder.

She covered her eyes and cried out.

That damn powder was lime!

One wave, two waves—six full bags of lime—turned Yu Yinghua into a white ghost. The ground of the underground warehouse was also covered in white.

Dry, burning, painful!

Her body was wrapped in wet cement, and the lime was more harmful to her than to ordinary humans.

"Die!"

"All of you, die!"

Yu Yinghua was enraged beyond reason and let out a piercing scream as she lunged at the weakest-looking one among them—Su Huijun.

Though these petty tricks weren't useless, they only made her angrier. Evil spirits transcended common sense. They couldn't be killed with mere cunning!

But Wu Xian and the others had never expected to defeat her with such small methods.

The most effective way to kill an evil spirit was with magical weapons and talismans!

Su Huijun struck first. She plucked two beads from her prayer bracelet and, just as Yu Yinghua was about to strike, she threw both beads simultaneously.

Crack! Crack!

The two beads transformed into two streaks of electric light, then merged into a single flash of lightning that exploded against Yu Yinghua's chest, blasting her backward.

Falling to the ground, Yu Yinghua clapped her hands and her body began to lift straight up.

But just as she was halfway off the ground, Wu Xian and Shi Ji simultaneously thrust the copper coin spear and the poisonous child urine amulet deep into her body.

On one side was the powerful magic from the copper coin sword; on the other, the deadly bone-penetrating poison on the filthy blade.

Yu Yinghua immediately felt unbearable pain. She sensed the evil energy inside her body leaking out—but this was also an opportunity. Wu Xian and Shi Ji had gotten close enough to her!

The evil energy seeped into the ground. The cement—meant to be her deathtrap—obeyed her command, and the entire warehouse floor instantly softened.

From Yu Yinghua's perspective, Wu Xian and Shi Ji were finished.

They were only relying on their powerful weapons; physically, they were still mere humans. Once trapped in the quagmire, they would have no chance to resist.

Suddenly, Yu Yinghua's expression changed sharply.

The floor had indeed softened—but it wasn't a puddle of mud. Instead, it was a shifting, uneven slime.

The hardener and lime were taking effect, preventing the cement from fully softening!

Wu Xian and Shi Ji hesitated for a moment, then took advantage of the opening, swinging their weapons fiercely at Yu Yinghua.

A fear even stronger than the one she'd felt facing Fang Zhi surged in Yu Yinghua's heart. She realized if she didn't do something soon, she'd die at the hands of these humans.

Though she was a great wandering evil spirit, even her resilient body couldn't withstand this much longer. The poisons had already dulled her movements, and the copper coin sword was continuously purifying her evil energy.

"I don't want to disappear!"

"Zhiwu still hasn't come for me. He hasn't apologized. I... Get away from me!"

Her intense willpower saturated her body with chilling evil energy. The dense aura forced Wu Xian and Shi Ji back. Cracks appeared across Yu Yinghua's body, and filthy mud gushed out from the fissures. The entire underground space filled with the acrid smell of cement.

Wu Xian felt his teeth ache and the hairs on his back stand up.

"Shit, this mini-boss has a second phase!"

Yu Yinghua sneered at Wu Xian and the others with a cruel, ferocious expression. She had killed many for Wang Zhiwu, and the grudges and curses of those victims had been stored inside her, only now finally being unleashed.

"I want you all—"

"To hell with that!"

Crash!

Yu Yinghua's face flushed red.

A splash of filthy blood was thrown onto her face, instantly disrupting her raging evil energy. It shifted from violent and wild to chaotic and disordered.

Shi Ji calmly put away a skin pouch.

It was a magical artifact he had acquired while worshipping the gods, called the "Dog Blood Pouch."

Over time, it would fill with black dog's blood—blood that could harm evil spirits and break through both righteous and evil magical arts. It was perfect for this situation.

Trying to transform and enter a second phase in front of him?

Dream on!

A congenital filthy holy body, specially designed to deal with all kinds of flashy tricks!
