Chapter 3 - Son-in-law (2)

Lyton took care of the remaining bandits and urgently directed the carriage towards the town of Fleming (the other noble's town where he was headed for the meeting). Sasha was overcome with tears, witnessing Austin's pain, and repeatedly pleaded with him to wake up.

Upon reaching the town, Lyton carefully carried Austin and asked the guards at the gate for directions to the temple. A guard replied that he could quickly take him there himself, as he possessed the blessing of swift movement. Lyton accepted and he promised a guard reward if Austin was saved, and the guard rapidly carried Austin away. Lyton and his daughter then followed the path the guard had taken.

By luck, they encountered Lord Fleming and his daughter on their way, who were on their way to meet them. Lyton quickly recounted everything that had transpired and requested Fleming to summon a healer. Fleming informed him that their town did not have anyone with a healing blessing .

As they made their way to the temple, Lyton taunted Fleming. "It's ironic that your town boasts a temple dedicated to the goddess of health and love, yet you don't have a healer within your walls."

When they finally arrived at the temple, they were relieved to see Austin awake and fully bandaged. Lyton stated that from that moment forward, he would treat Austin as his own son.

Everyone, including Austin, then proceeded to Lord Fleming's residence. The next day, Austin received further treatment from a healer who had been summoned from another town.

Later that night, in the room that had been allotted to Lord Lyton, the two nobles engaged in a private conversation.

Fleming began, "The Emperor has been quite ill recently. It is rumored that he may pass away within the next three or four years."

Lyton then inquired, "Which prince are you planning to support in the succession?"

Fleming replied, "I haven't made a decision yet."

At that moment, Austin entered the room carrying cups of tea. They immediately ceased their discussion. Fleming turned to Austin and said warmly, "Austin, you are like my own son now. You mustn't trouble yourself with such tasks. You should also rest properly to allow your wound to heal."

Austin quietly withdrew from the room, a happy expression on his face. The two nobles then resumed their conversation.

Meanwhile, Austin went to play with Sasha and Lord Fleming's daughter, June.
