Prologue

Centuries ago, when the plague ravaged the known world, humanity trembled before a darkness that seemed endless. Entire kingdoms fell, prayers withered on the lips of the dying, and death walked unmasked through every village. Yet what time and books forgot was the true cause of that calamity: it was not a disease born of the earth, but a weapon forged by the undead.

In the shadows, a secret alliance of pureblood vampires unleashed horror as a feast of chaos, weakening humanity from within. But amid the ruin, a family rose with the courage to face the unknown: the Rizz. At their head stood Anastacia—wise, compassionate, and strangely immortal. She, bearer of blood as ancient as the vampires themselves, changed the course of history with her silent sacrifice.

Few remember that during the Great Plague, it was not an army that saved thousands of lives, but a woman who, with her light, protected even those who betrayed her. At her side, a young boy named Héctor—a mere servant saved from death—swore eternal loyalty. But fate, cruel and wise, wove between them an impossible love: he, human; she, eternal.

When the boy fell under the attack of a vampire, Anastacia saved him from the abyss by turning him into one of them—not out of desire, but out of love. A love that had to remain pure, distant... impossible. Upon awakening, Héctor was renamed Freyr, in honor of the god of a love that could never be returned.

Since then, Freyr has waited. For she—Anastacia—is reborn every fifty years within the Rizz family. Each life, each new name, is a promise. But also a forgetting.

Today, her name is Gretta.

And in a prestigious academy where appearances are as sharp as a predator's claws, the echo of an ancient truth begins to awaken. Ancestral blood calls, and the past—the one that never truly dies—is about to open its eyes.
