(It was raining outside. I had sat down and decided to finish chapter 2 of the story. But because it was raining, I got tempted and wrote Ode to Rain instead.
Feel free to ignore it if you are in the mood of reading only horror stories.)
I saw the stormy weather from my windowpane. I contemplated that a purification was going to occur and Nature was preparing for a ritual to make it happen.
Everyone was rushing towards their house or striding to a safer shelter.
However, nature was different. It was not in haste, but in a gleeful mood. It was dressed up to welcome the royal delegate.
Rain
Every tree was moving forward and backward dancing with the wind. The birds were joining the purification party with the piercing wind and starting to sing their sweet melodies sitting on the branches.
The clouds were moving proudly to be a part of the party. Jealous, the white clouds were overtaken by the black. The black ones were here telling us : the waiting hour has come for everyone.
Nature then informed the birds and the kids to enjoy the party. The kids were gathering at the field with a soccer ball and the birds had stopped singing.
Silence was echoing everywhere. Everything was waiting for the expecting delegates to make their appearance.
The ritual was completed. The delegates were starting to come down on the earth.
O, what a joyous occasion!
What a heavenly party!
O deities, the delegates, the rain!
I was invited to collect blackberries. During the rain, my friends and I joined the purification party. We were welcomed by the blackberry tree.
One of my friends climbed up the tree and started collecting blackberries. He threw the blackberries at us. We caught a few and some rested on the ground. We rushed to gather the rest of them and began to pile up in a bag.
The rain intensified and the party was heated up. Everyone in nature's care was enjoying the party in full.
We, nevertheless, were trying to catch some blackberries.
O, what a heavenly catch they were!
Nature had been very glad to let us share some of its plentiful joy.
I was trying to catch the blackberries. But the downpour was bucketing and it was hard to see the blackberries fall. We caught a substantial amount of blackberries despite my indistinct vision.
Then, I went to the playground. One of my friends invited me.
I was glad to see nature's gladness and joined them.
I was playing soccer with my friends. We were actors, imagining ourselves in a royal theatre where nature had given us the opportunity to act without any interference. I believed nature was enjoying our play. I let them enjoy the show just like they made sure to make us enjoy the soccer match.
O, what a joy!
The play intensified as well. Suddenly I pictured myself as a spectator. My role had made its end. No one wanted me to play. However, I wanted to stay and enjoy the party.
Nevertheless, I was excluded from the party. I saw from a distance that the party was going pretty well without me.
I came across an old tree. The tree spoke with me. I shared my sorrowful story with him. He then said to me :
Life is a beautiful garden with a vile serpent,
If you just enjoy the view, you will be beaten.
If you want to kill the poisonous snake,
Your life will be full of red snowflakes.
Instead, tame the snake and work on the view,
You can see the flaws like a morning dew.
The garden was never present but in your mind,
Let not the mind control you nor help it bind.
Always get up afresh like the morning rain,
So that nothing can trap you in a chain.
