Chapter 2 - prologue

**Felix Warfare**

"Get ready for the drop. Hold your weapons," Captain Felix ordered. "We're finally here."

*Incoming transmission...*

"Do your best to plant that beacon. The success of humanity depends on you," Sander's voice crackled through the comms. "Those who are slaves to fear have no place in this war. They're just prey for the droids. Stay alive."

Felix rolled his eyes. "Stop with the motivational speeches. You're terrible at them."

"We haven't even started, and you're already doubting my ability to inspire the troops?" Felix said with a smirk.

"Haha, I just wanted to say good luck on your new mission, rookie," Sander replied. "We're all rooting for you."

---

"Mich, report. Any signs of hostiles?" Felix asked, scanning the terrain. "We're getting close to the extraction point."

"No sign of droids, Captain," Mich replied.

"Good. Let's keep moving. Seven more miles, then we extract the beacon," Felix commanded.

---

"Captain, I'm at the beacon site," came a voice over comms. "Requesting authorization to plant—Soldier 35 reporting."

Felix's instincts screamed. "Wait! Get out of there—NOW!" he shouted, panic overtaking his voice.

A crimson warning blinked on Felix's HUD, marking Soldier 35's location. A second later, the ground erupted in a flash of blinding light, followed by a thunderous blast. The shockwave sent the team staggering.

When the dust settled, Soldier 35 was gone.

"Captain…" Mich's voice trembled. "He's gone."

"Damn it!" Felix growled, slamming his fist into the dirt. "They lured us in... We're surrounded!"

He steadied his breath, then said firmly, "Plant the beacon. I'll hold them off. That's all we can do now."

"Copy that," Mich said. Her voice was tight.
