Chapter 2 - First Step

Daehan Cheonghak High School (Daehan Blue Crane High School)

Formed in 1923, Daehan Cheonghak High first catered exclusively to Korea's wealthiest families. It survived post-colonial upheavals, and by the 1980s, it had cemented its reputation as the premier institution for Korea's elite. By the present day 1999, it has become both the most admired and the most feared high school in the country.

Known widely as the School of the Rich, Daehan Cheonghak drew in the sons and daughters of chaebol families, powerful politicians, and Korea's top scholars. For decades, private Korean schools like this maintained a monopoly over power and opportunity.

In 1986, a law was passed, 'The Private Education Equalization Act.' According to this act, all Private High Schools must have At least 5–10% of students come from government-supported scholarship programs for low-income families. This was to break the monopoly of Elite Schools serving the rich.

But this was all just for the show; by this time, Daehan Highschool already had a Hierarchical system, like how the student council was made up of Sons and daughters of Government Officials, but outside of the circle, nobody will know about how shit the school was.

I was left in an orphanage; my parents were unknown to me and the orphanage. They at least had the courtesy to give me the name Wang Do-Yun; for someone like it was a dream to enroll in this school, and I got the chance to do so. After two years of suffering, they finally burned me alive.

But things have changed–

I have come to the past with knowledge of the future...

A day after return...

Class 3-4, Daehan Cheonghak High School

It was as joyous as it could be — students laughing, shouting over each other, pulling harmless pranks, the classroom buzzing with youthful energy.

But underneath that noisy surface, there was another side.

In the corner, a boy crouched on all fours, trembling slightly as another student named Kim Do-Hwan lounged in a chair, his legs propped casually on the boy's back like a human table.

"Ah… don't move, you fat bastard," the seated kid sneered, popping a piece of gum into his mouth. "Didn't I tell you? My leg hurts today."

His friends nearby snickered, not bothering to hide their amusement.

The boy on the floor clenched his jaw, his face burning with shame, but he didn't move.

"Don't be embarrassed, Jung Byung-Ho(bullied kid). Kim Do-Hwan is helping you lose some weight. Do you impress these girls," Yoon Sung-Min(a friend of Do-Hwan) said as he started chuckling alongside Do-Hwan. Suddenly, the door opens as a teacher wearing checkered shorts and formal pants enters the class. "Now... Everyone sits."

As the teacher put down his books as he was about to start Roll Call, the door shot open again. It was Do-Yun wearing a white school shirt and cream brown pants alongside black shades covering his eyes. "Sorry for the intrusion, couldn't really walk faster." As he entered, most kids were in Aww. As for them, Do Yun was still a dog.

As he walked between the rows, the teacher said, "Take off the glasses Wang Do Yun. This is a school, not your home." Do-Yun turned slightly, his lips curling into the faintest smirk. "But can you look at me without them…?" A pause. "Just joking. The sun was too strong outside, I couldn't see shit." He slipped off the glasses.

"Mind your language, Wang Do-Yun."

"Yes, yes," Do-Yun murmured, sliding into his seat.

The class began.

But even as the lesson dragged on and the students stared forward, Do-Yun felt it — unwavering eyes on him. Watching. Testing. Waiting.

He smiled faintly.

"Do Yun, Has lost his mind" said Yoon Sung Min as he looked at Kim Do Hwan

"We will check on him after class," said Kim Do Hwan

After class–Do Hwan and Sung Min approached Do Yun —

"Na...Do Yun have you finally lost your mind." - Do Hwan

Do Yun Stared at Do Hwan...

***

Kim Do Hwan... One of the people who ruined my life, him and his tattoo machine, the scars over my eyes and body, are all done by him.

Do Hwan isn't really that high in the hierarchy; his father works as a Manager at SN Imports, but through his father, he befriends the son of the head of the company.

[Baek Hyun-Woo– A member of the Student Council ] Friend to Do Hwan

"Are you scared now... Do Yun" - Sung Min

"Stand up Do Yun, I have a new tattoo in mind." - Do Hwan said as he leaned on the table

"You know Do Hwan... In movies, bullies don't usually wear ties" His lips curved into a faint smirk.

"I guess that's not true."- - Do Yun

Kim Do Hwan froze — confused, eyes narrowing.

"What—?"

Suddenly, Do Yun's hand shot, grabbed Do Hwan over the table by his tie as he immediately stood, grabbing the chair behind him with an overhand swing. Do Yun smashed it on the head of Do Hwan, and the table below broke.

Slam!

A sharp, collective gasp rippled through the room.

"You bastard..." Sung Min said as he rages toward Do Yun—

Without hesitation, Do Yun kicked the shattered remains of the chair toward Sung Min — the splintered wood clattering into his legs, halting his charge for just a split second.

That was all the time Do Yun needed.

He surged forward, grabbing the front of Sung Min's shirt and yanking him off balance. With a swift sweep of his foot, he tripped Sung Min backward, sending him crashing to the floor.

Within seconds Do Yun mounted over him with a grin on his face—

"Since I'm weak, my fist probably won't hurt well... Regardless," - Do Yun said as he charged his fist— tearing through the air. Do Yun's fist slammed into Sung Min's throat...

"Khwak!"

More punches followed, precise and cold. Sung-Min choked, eyes wide, as the students around them froze—not out of shock now, but fear.

Each thud of Do-Yun's fist echoed louder than the last.

"Now you are truly a clown."- Do Yun said as he stood back up while Sung Min held his neck, gasping for air.

"Are You Awake Now... KIM DO-HWAN."

Do-Yun walked forward grabbing a black school bag from the floor. As he takes out the tattoo machine from it...

"Stop it... Do Yun, you know what will happen right..."

Do Yun Momentarily stop—

"You are a nobody... Do Hwan's father will charge to death." Seong Haru (Class Rep.)

Sighs!

"Come here and say that to my face." - Do Yun said as he glared back at the Seong Haru

On the ground Kim Do Hwan was struggling to even get back on his fours—

[Heavy breathing] [Heavy breathing]

"My head... It hurts, Fuck... Is that blood?"

Suddenly, a shadow loomed over him.

Do Yun's voice — low, steady:

"Huh…? Do-Hwan… begging now?"

Do-Hwan twisted his head in panic — just in time to see Do Yun's hand slowly reach forward.

Fingers slid over the top of his skull, curling down, firm and unshaken — like a tightening vice.

"I begged too," Do Yun murmured softly, his mouth close to Do-Hwan's ear. "How did that work out for me…?"

Do-Hwan's body convulsed, his breath hitching in ragged bursts.

"S-stay away… STAY AWAY!" he shrieked, scrambling backward on his knees, legs scraping helplessly.

But the smell of ink was already in the air.

Do Yun calmly reached into the black school bag, pulling out the tattoo machine.

BZZZZT.

A sharp, guttural scream tore through the classroom — raw, animalistic, echoing off the walls.

AHHHHH!

Do Yun's face was eerily composed, eyes steady, unblinking. The machine's buzzing needle is carved into flesh as if guided by memory.

Inside, he heard them — his own past screams, the nights he writhed in agony, the cold taste of betrayal. They surfaced now, faint but clawing, wrapping around his mind like a whispering ghost.

And as Do Yun worked, a thin smile spread across his face.

For the first time in years — he felt alive.

Finally stopping, Do Yun stood up, wiping the splats of blood from his face as Do Hwan, was already knocked down.
