Chapter 48 - The Fire Beneath the Skin

Cassian didn't speak when he walked into the penthouse. His jacket hit the floor first, then his tie. He was still seething from the meeting—where board members questioned his control.

He needed to dominate something.

No—someone.

And there Riven was, sitting cross-legged on the sofa, wearing one of Cassian's silk robes… and nothing underneath.

Cassian's jaw clenched. "Is this a new game, or are you just asking to be punished?"

Riven's lips curved. "Depends. Will I like the punishment?"

Cassian crossed the room in seconds, grabbing him by the wrist and hauling him up. The robe fell open, revealing flushed skin, a smirk, and the damn fire in Riven's eyes that always set him off.

He kissed him rough—teeth clashing, tongues tangling, breath stolen. Cassian shoved him back against the nearest wall.

"I warned you," he growled.

"And I didn't listen," Riven whispered against his lips. "What will you do about it?"

The answer came in a growl. Cassian dragged Riven to the bedroom, pushed him onto the bed, and yanked velvet cuffs from the drawer.

Wrists bound. Legs spread. Body offered.

But Cassian didn't take him immediately.

He looked.

Let the tension build. Let Riven squirm.

He ran his mouth over every inch—biting, licking, savoring. Riven gasped when Cassian's fingers pressed inside him—slow, teasing, relentless.

"You wanted this," Cassian whispered into his ear. "Beg for it."

"No."

Cassian thrust deeper, then curled his fingers.

Riven moaned, arching. "Please—"

Cassian smirked. "There's the honesty."

When he finally entered Riven, it was brutal—his control gone, their rhythm animalistic. The bed shook. Headboard slammed. Moans turned to cries. Nails scratched skin.

Cassian took everything—and gave everything back.

They came undone together.

Collapsed.

Slick skin against skin.

He didn't untie Riven's wrists right away. He just held him.

And in the silence, Riven whispered, "You don't have to hide it, Cassian."

"Hide what?"

"How much you need this. Me."

Cassian didn't reply.

But the way he buried his face into Riven's neck said it all.
