Chapter 6 - Liar Liar

"It happened on that unfortunate night, the goddess of night summoned me in a space completely covered in darkness. All I could hear was her deep voice telling about the curse of the slumber flower."

He paused for a moment, to let his words sink in their minds.

They looked at his unchanging eyes and then they looked at each other, sharing the same confusion.

"So what is exactly the curse of this slumber flower?" asked the scholar, his tone anxious and filled with fear.

The knight stared at them straight in the eyes for a few more seconds before continuing, "Everytime one of the three of us, the temporary owners of the slumber flower, die, it will revive us in a previous moment from the death. But… at the cost of our souls." He finished.

Few minutes later, it seems his planned succeeded, for the moment, they decided to co-operate.

They believed his lies.

The scholar still didn't trust any of what this knight had blabbered, but the prince had believed his words since he had experienced dying himself. So the scholar had to join with them too, not that he wanted to argue.

'He can't be lying at such a time, and he used the name of the goddess of night, he wouldn't want to lie in the name of a deity.' both the prince and the scholar concluded.

The mystery of the curse of the slumber flower is solved, now it's time to save their lives and souls…

'If we can somehow understand how his weapon works, we won't have any problem in killing him—unless he's in a group and they have the same types of weapons.' the knight thought, he also considered taking a different route for they knew where the scavengers were at the moment.

'They might be observing us from somewhere far' the thought made a shiver run down his spine.

They don't have much time now, the knight had decided to perish from this place as soon as possible.

"We should leave from here, the sooner the better." he said, while standing.

The scholar agreed and stood by himself to prepare for his horse. But at that moment, the prince jolted, he handed the slumber flower to the scholar before standing up and stated, "We should kill that scavenger and take his weapon. That thing is really dangerous–and powerful."

'Has he lost his mind?!' the knight muttered inwardly, 'He really thinks we can kill a group of man eating people in their territory. And with those weapons they have… we would not stand a chance!'

The scholar could no longer hold his words and he spilled, "Can one of you for once, describe this weapon to me?"

Hearing him, the knight started describing the artifact as best as he could while the prince stood there, looking at the ground in deep thought.

After hearing the knight's description of the weapon, the scholar looked at him with enlightened eyes, "That weapon is a gun."
