After chatting for some time, they decided to head home first. The three of them sat quietly in the car. The ride back home was silent, each of them lost in their own thoughts.
Luna's house was quite far from the police station. It took almost three hours to reach. By the time they got home, it was already lunchtime. After taking a shower, they sat down to eat.
Even after she returned, Luna couldn't miss the worry visible on her parents' faces. Though she herself was still a bit shaken, she tried to comfort them.
"It's okay, everything is alright now. See? I'm back home, right?" she said with a small smile. "Look, not even a scratch on my body."
Her parents still looked anxious, so she added, "And about the kidnappers—don't worry, the police will catch them soon."
After some small talk about what had happened, Luna excused herself and returned to her room to rest.
She had acted strong in front of her parents, but deep down, she was still just a high school student. It was hard to wrap her mind around the whole thing. Why would someone even kidnap me? What was the reason? So many questions, and not a single answer.
Her thoughts drifted to Nikhil. Who was he, really? She didn't know. But one thing she was sure of—she was grateful to him. Without him, she might not have made it back home at all.
With those thoughts swirling in her mind, she eventually drifted off to sleep. It had been a long, exhausting day.
