Chapter 21 - The System Dips at the Worst Fucking Time

Riku stirred awake, sunlight brushing across his face. He rubbed his eyes and yawned.

["Good morning, Host. Would you like to draw the daily gacha?"]

He blinked slowly, still half-asleep. "Yeah, yeah. Sure."

The system chimed.

[Congratulations, Host. You have acquired: Inspect S+]

And more, depending on user focus and intent. Cannot be blocked except by divine-class concealment or dimensional suppression.

Riku sat up immediately. 'HOLY SHIT! THIS IS BUSTED.'

But before he could do anything with it, the system dinged again.

[Host has reached an upgrade point. System will now enter Sleep Mode for one year to expand multiversal access. Upon return, draw potential and reward tiers will significantly increase.]

[System shutting down.]

Riku froze. 'Uh what? What the fuck do you mean shutting down? Wait—wait come back. What do you mean? WHAT THE FUCK?!'

The interface faded completely. Silence.

He leapt out of bed, storming across the room. 'How FUCKING CONVENIENT. WHEN I JUST FOUND OUT WHERE IN THE TIMELINE I AM, IT'S GONE. AND I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE AN EASIER TIME NOW GETTING STRONGER AND NEW POWERS.'

He stomped. Punched the bed. Shouted. Raged.

Minutes passed before his chest started to ache and his breath turned erratic. His heart pounded.

But something kicked in.

His body slowed down. His breath steadied.

Better Breathing.

He clenched his jaw, then exhaled hard.

"Damn it. This skill is more useful than I originally gave it credit for."

Frustration still burned in his chest, but he stood up. Walked to the corner of his room.

He grabbed the 10-ton wristbands and strapped them on without hesitation. They thudded as they locked into place.

He dropped straight into a push-up.

Five thousand push-ups.Five thousand sit-ups.Eight thousand jumping jacks.

Cursed energy pulsed through every fiber of his body. Armament Haki coated his limbs. Kaioken flared to life, pushing his muscles past their limit.

It wasn't the first time he'd used it—but every time came with pain.

Strain shot through his joints. His breath grew ragged. Every movement became a war. His body screamed. But he kept going until the numbers were done.

Finally, he fell back, gasping.

Sweat drenched the floor beneath him. His arms trembled. His whole body ached.

He removed the wristbands and stored them in his inventory, groaning as he stood up and staggered to the bathroom.

A long, hot shower later, he emerged towel-drying his hair. Then he retrieved the wristbands again and strapped them back on with a heavy clink.

He got dressed in casual streetwear, then headed downstairs.

His mom was in the kitchen sipping tea. His dad was on the couch watching a cooking competition on TV.

"Morning," Riku said as he entered.

His mom glanced at him and tilted her head. "I didn't notice before… but you've gotten bigger. More muscular. Have you been taking drugs? Like steroids?"

He blinked. "What? No. Of course not. I've just been working out every day."

His dad looked over from the couch and grinned. "Must be my amazing genes."

His mom rolled her eyes. "Sure, your genes."

Then his dad added, "You're not going back to college, are you?"

Riku crossed his arms. "Do I need to? I mean, I'm making good money, and I'm being smart about how I spend it."

His mom gave him a skeptical look. "We know, but stocks aren't stable. They rise and fall. You got lucky this time. I think you should still get your degree—just so you have something to fall back on."

He met her eyes. "Mom, I've got this. Trust me. I know stocks. And I'm already saving millions for retirement."

She sighed. "Alright, fine. I trust you. But if I hear you spent half your money on something dumb like a golden toilet, you're going right back to college. Understood?"

"Yeah, I know. I won't. Promise."

She stepped forward and hugged him, then walked over to join his dad on the couch.

Riku looked at both of them. His fingers itched.

'Perfect time to test Inspect.'

He activated it and focused on his mom.

Riku's jaw slackened. "Wow… It's so detailed…"
