Chapter 4 - The Strange Land

A black technological spear shot out as a faint blue beam. The streak of light pierced through the thin layer of the human-shaped creature. Its defense was quickly shattered. The sharp metal cut through the repulsive liquid. As it passed, the faint blue light consumed the monster's liquid until nothing remained, as if cleansing impurities from the heavens.

The streak of light didn't stop at penetrating the human-like creature. It continued as a beam, its speed undiminished. On the contrary, its speed even increased, like living technology. The spear rapidly spun and changed direction, piercing through the thin layers and destroying the bodies of the scattered interdimensional beings.

Selene watched from a distance, holding her energy gun ready. When all the interdimensional monsters had been attacked, the technological spear rotated and shot back towards the young woman who was its master. Selene caught it swiftly and fired her energy gun at the remaining black, foul-smsmelling liquid debris from the spear's attack.

Two or three more beams disintegrated the black liquid until nothing was left. Selene wasn't careless or prematurely triumphant. She remained in a defensive stance while observing her surroundings, ready to face any possible situation.

"It shouldn't have ended this quickly," Selene murmured. It was then that a thought surfaced in her mind. The young woman's eyelids slowly closed. She put her gun back into its sheath on her leg, then grasped the metal spear with both hands. The spear's appearance made it seem cold to the touch, but it wasn't. The faint blue light surrounding this weapon continuously transmitted warmth to Selene's palms. It strangely made her feel both relaxed and calmer.

The young woman rotated the black spear in her hand before plunging its tip into the ground until it was buried. Immediately, the interdimensional energy it had gathered within exploded, creating spiderweb-like cracks that spread in all directions. The ground trembled, and the air in the area became turbulent.

"Activate the primary system for me!" As she finished speaking, the spear's technological system responded. Its primary function was activated. It began to verify the user's authenticity and wildly absorbed interdimensional energy from her body. Selene's face paled slightly, as if from blood loss. The young woman gripped her weapon tightly, bracing herself to avoid falling. The amount of interdimensional energy lost in a single instant was enormous. If she weren't S-level, her consciousness would have faded immediately.

The faint blue light emitted by the spear grew brighter. It radiated more and more, eventually engulfing the entire black technological spear. The light emitted didn't affect Selene. She lifted it from the ground and held it towards the sky.

3 times... 5 times... 10 times... The size of the light spear grew larger and larger until it stopped at 13 times its original normal size. It shone with a dazzling, blinding light across the entire area. This was the Spear of Purification, a spear that would destroy all impurities in the world! A spear that would end all catastrophes!!

Selene adjusted the light spear in her hand. One of the most powerful technologies humanity had ever invented in history was violently thrown. It shot rapidly skyward, but didn't go very high before stopping, as if colliding with something.

CRACK! CRACK! Sounds erupted. Cracks similar to those on the ground appeared. As more time passed, the cracks expanded, covering the entire sky above Selene's head. Light from the cracking void shone everywhere, illuminating every corner. The young woman took her energy gun and an enhancement module from her leg.

"Destroy this domain!" The enhancement module was attached to the side of the gun. Selene tapped it lightly, like tapping a game cartridge. Auxiliary function installed successfully! The young woman's eyes were steady. She aimed her energy gun with her gaze at the bright light spear above her head. Without hesitation, a dense energy beam struck the base of the spear, further enhancing its intensity.

SMASH! The sound of something shattering echoed across the sky. The bright light spear became a beam, penetrating through the various atmospheric layers of the interdimensional space until it disappeared from sight, leaving only a trail of energy and a large light blue ring in its wake.

Outside the energy shield's perimeter, in a direction opposite to where Aleah's group was.

"Wow! That's Chief's Sky-Turning Spear!" Even Aleah, who was in the opposite direction, saw the lingering effects of its use. She recognized it quickly. The Chief had once used this spear before, and it was so powerful it could even deal with catastrophic-level beings.

"Let's go, Aleah. Perhaps the Chief needs our help." Unlike Aleah, Elena was not at ease. She pondered the reason why the Chief activated the Sky-Turning Spear's domain. It was possible she had encountered an S-level threat, or something even worse: a catastrophic-level interdimensional monster.

Selene was indeed powerful, but she was still human, and humans had their limits. Unlike S-level and catastrophic-level interdimensional beings, they had countless tricks and strange methods, as well as immense amounts of interdimensional energy, which Selene could not compare to.

"Hmm, understood." Aleah's demeanor immediately changed. She quickly followed the other young woman's figure in the direction of the Chief.

"The next enemy might be a catastrophic-level interdimensional being. It would be good if you put on your enhancement module," Elena warned, running at high speed without conserving energy. Green light still glowed in patterns in her eyes. Her massive bow had been folded into a stick on her back, making it suitable for carrying while moving. One could call it a "compressed bow."

"Alright." Nodding slightly, Aleah opened her function flash drive box. Inside, it was full of many enhancement modules for her sword. The young woman thought for a moment, then picked up a golden-yellow function flash drive and installed it on the sword's hilt.

The weapon made a small sound to inform its owner: "Enhancement module installed." Suddenly, Aleah's blade turned black with golden-yellow accents, giving it a very different feel from its normal state or when it was black with pink accents.

"Elena, stop first," Aleah stopped the other young woman. Then she swung the sword in her hand forward, creating a void shaped like her swing before it expanded. Elena was slightly surprised but said nothing.

"Come here," the young woman obediently followed Aleah's instruction. Elena's back was gently pushed. Her body stepped forward a few paces, crossing the void her teammate had created. Aleah followed, then appeared in another place.

The central core of the energy shield was now active.

"Are you here?" As soon as the young woman exited the dimensional void she had created, Aleah saw Ling Lian turn to look, as if expecting this.

"The energy shield is almost fully active..." Ling Lian paused briefly before continuing, "We detected catastrophic-level energy signatures not far from here. Selene is probably fighting it now."

Aleah's eyes widened slightly. In her mind, she considered the worst possibilities. "A catastrophic-level monster? We need to go help the Chief now!"

"I'll leave this to you two. Aleah, take this with you," Ling Lian finished speaking and handed her a long black sword with its sheath. At first, Aleah was a little confused. What was this sword for? Why did she have to carry it?

However, the young woman grew increasingly familiar with it. She opened her mouth to ask, disbelieving, "The Director's sword? Why are you giving it to me, Sister Lian? Aren't you coming with us?"

Ling Lian shook her head. "I have to deal with another catastrophic monster. I won't be able to help you. And yes, this sword belongs to the Director. It will definitely help you, I believe so."

"Ah... Thank you, Sister Lian." Unexpected that the other person would trust her so much, Aleah couldn't help but feel pleased and embarrassed at the same time. She carefully accepted the sword, not wanting even a tiny mark to appear. This was the Director's sword; she would definitely take good care of it!

"No need to thank me…" Ling Lian looked at the core of the energy shield. "Let me tell you, you should prioritize your own safety first. The energy shield will be fully activated soon. If you can't fight the catastrophic monster, come in here and wait for me to deal with it. Alright, we've wasted enough time. Go."

"Okay." After that, Aleah used her sword's auxiliary function to open a dimensional void again. She gently pushed Elena forward, and then followed herself. Both young women vanished as the dimensional void closed.

Ling Lian looked at the increasing percentage on the energy shield's core before turning in one direction. Her expanded senses detected another catastrophic-level being and 4-5 S-level monsters approaching.

She subtly moved her slender white fingers. Countless silver threads appeared. With a few swings, the invisible lines covered the area, forming a perfect fortress and trap. Any intruder daring to enter would have almost no chance of returning alive. They would be brutally cut and crushed.

"This interdimensional space is very dangerous. I hope the Director is alright," Ling Lian murmured softly, heading straight to confront the powerful monsters without hesitation. After all, this area needed to be explored anyway. It would be better if she dealt with these monsters now.

Soon, the young woman reached her destination. Her speed was no less than Elena's when she unleashed everything and used her unique abilities to their full potential.

"Human…" The moment the catastrophic-level being saw the young woman, it lunged at her with blinding speed.

"Just the early stage of a catastrophic level, huh?" Ling Lian moved her arm. Countless silver threads immediately enveloped the catastrophic monster's body, stopping its movement. The young woman raised her fan and swung it towards the enemy. A violent wave of interdimensional energy surged, aiming to rip its body apart.

The catastrophic-level interdimensional being was not weak. Not only did it possess strange abilities, but it had also developed intelligence. In a brief moment, all the invisible threads snapped from its immense strength. The tree-human disappeared behind Ling Lian. It ignited its own body, transforming into a fiery punch attack.

Instinct sensed danger. Ling Lian turned back and swung her fan to defend herself. The clash between the interdimensional energy wave and the fiery punch caused the surrounding environment to collapse. Ten meters from the impact point, a terrifying deep crater formed.

The young woman's delicate body was sent flying, crashing into dozens of rocks. Blood flowed from her mouth. The catastrophic-level interdimensional being didn't let such a good opportunity pass. The tree-human hovered above Ling Lian's head. Its burned body had recovered to its original state. Fire began to ignite again, signaling the next violent attack.

Black hair, born from the essence of transformation, slowly swayed in the wind. His eyelids gradually opened, revealing a pair of dark, bottomless, endless, unpredictable, and incomparably cold eyes. Kilenc immediately surveyed the place where the interdimensional storm had carried him.

Thick fog covered everything. A strange yet unique scent, highly intoxicating and alluring. If one allowed their body to become accustomed to these scents, it could lead to severe addiction. The more the body received it, the more it craved. The desire would expand endlessly. Lacking this enchanting scent for even a second could lead to madness and death.

Of course, this unique scent couldn't affect Kilenc. He stepped forward, treading on a path made of unknown bricks. With every step he took, Kilenc saw many people on both sides of the road. Some were fighting to seize valuables. Some were engaging in inappropriate acts as happily as animals during mating season. And some laughed madly, muttering incomprehensible things. Even if their bodies could barely endure, they continued to laugh pathetically.

"Big brother, won't you join us for some fun?" A young woman in revealing clothes clung to Kilenc's arm, striking a seductive pose. Her face was beautiful, her body curved invitingly.

"Get lost." Kilenc naturally disdained all humans. He wouldn't let these mere ants touch his body, nor did he even want to be near them. There were only a few exceptions whom he didn't despise, who were interesting humans.

The young woman was thrown to the ground, but she didn't give up. Looking at the young man's perfect face and the body born to match that face, the young woman's body grew hotter and hotter. She twisted uncontrollably. The young woman tried to cling to Kilenc again.

Not only that, dozens of other beautiful women came to further entice him. Kilenc was no longer in a good mood. He glanced at all of them. Suddenly, the sound of bones breaking continuously rang out, followed by a tearing sound of something.

All the young women screamed in pain. Tears flowed from their wide eyes. They all lay piled on the ground, mouths agape as their bodies began to distort with every passing second. Their beautiful appearances were gone, slowly becoming ugly and horrifying, transforming into monstrous lumps of flesh that gradually swelled and expanded.

"Now this is worth looking at. Beautiful, beautiful." A smile appeared at the corner of Kilenc's mouth as he gazed at the dozens of helpless lumps of flesh with satisfaction.

BOOM!!! BOOM!!! BOOM!!! In quick succession. Blood splattered and stained the ground and walls. Kilenc's body remained perfectly clean. Foul impurities could not touch him in the slightest. They were unworthy.

He paid no attention to the human lives lost. Kilenc's emotions soared as if he had been liberated. His prolonged existence as a human had suppressed his cruelty and desires, which was uncomfortable—not a very pleasant feeling.

"You brought me to a place like this. Let's see who wanted to meet me." The smile remained on Kilenc's face as his gaze fixed directly on the towering, ominous black castle far in the sky. The distance and thick fog did not affect him. He was now in such a good mood that he wanted to meet the planner behind the entire situation.
