The morning sun filtered through the white curtains as Luna sprang out of bed, excitement bubbling in her chest. Today was the start of a new chapter—the beginning of her job at Walton Regency Hotel. She quickly freshened up, took a warm shower, quick breakfast and slipped into her carefully chosen uniform: a neatly pressed navy-blue blazer over a cream blouse, paired with a pencil skirt and modest heels.
As she checked her reflection one last time in the mirror, she turned to Bella. "Hey, I'm off! Wish me luck!"
Bella gave her a big thumbs-up. "Yes, babe! Best of luck! You're going to rock it!"
Luna made her way to the hotel with a mix of nerves and anticipation fluttering in her stomach. The Walton Regency stood tall and proud, its glass windows reflecting the golden rays of the sun. The entrance was grand—marble steps, polished brass handles, and a gentle stream of classical music playing from inside.
Inside the lobby, she was greeted by the scent of fresh lilies and soft vanilla, and a calm hush filled the space. The hotel manager, a professional-looking woman named Miss Kim, approached her with a warm smile.
"Welcome, Miss Luna. We're happy to have you join our team. As a Guest Relations Officer, your role is very importantndring the probation period you will be paid 15,000 dollar and after becoming fulltime it's gonna be 45k. You're the face of the hotel, and your job is to ensure that every guest feels special. Let me walk you through your responsibilities."
They walked through the lobby as Miss Carmen explained her duties. "First, you'll be stationed at the welcome desk beside the concierge. Your job is to greet each guest with a smile, assist with inquiries, help with check-ins if needed, and provide any information they may require—from room directions to restaurant recommendations."
Luna nodded attentively, absorbing every word.
Her day officially began with a training session from an experienced GRO named Ethan. He guided her through the welcome protocol.
"When a guest walks in, always rise to greet them. Use their name if you know it, and maintain a polite, warm tone. Offer refreshments if they've just arrived, and never forget to ask if there's anything you can do to make their stay more pleasant." After giving her some instructions the manager bid goodbye and went her way.
And Luna officially started doing her job, her named badge gleamed proudly against the lapel. Her first real interaction came a family of four walked in—two kids tugging at their parents' hands, luggage in tow.
Luna stood and gave her brightest smile. "Good morning and welcome to Walton Regency! May I help you with your check-in or direct you to your suite?"
The father nodded. "Yes, we're here under the name Harper."
"Of course, Mr. Harper. Let me confirm your reservation." She swiftly checked the system. "You'll be staying in our deluxe family suite on the tenth floor. May I offer the kids a juice while the check-in is completed?"
As she offered refreshments and answered their questions about the hotel's pool, Luna felt a new sense of confidence rising within her.
By midday, she had greeted over a dozen guests, answered countless questions, arranged transportation for a couple celebrating their anniversary, and guided a group of tourists toward the best local attractions.
During lunch, Ethan patted her shoulder. "You're doing great. You've got the right energy for this."
Luna smiled. Despite the sore feet and slight fatigue, she felt fulfilled. She was finally working in a place that matched her spirit.
During work ust as Luna was finishing up guiding a family toward the elevator, a loud, angry voice echoed across the lobby lounge.
"I said do you know who I am?! How dare you tell me I'm not welcome here?!"
Alarmed, Luna turned her head toward the source of the commotion. A well-dressed yet clearly agitated guest stood towering over a flustered front desk employee, his voice rising with every word. Guests nearby were turning to look, some startled, others whispering.
Luna quickly walked over to the scene, maintaining her composure. As a GRO, it was part of her responsibility to help de-escalate situations like this.
The employee kept his tone calm. "Sir, please understand, this decision comes directly from senior management. I'm only following protocol."
"What kind of service is this?! I demand to speak with your boss!"
Luna gently stepped to the side and whispered to another nearby staff member, "What's going on, why so much ruckus?"
The staff member leaned closer and said, "He's a known problem. Stays here often, but always causes trouble—harassing guests, damaging property, making a scene. After the last incident, management decided to ban him for good, he deserved it you know it's about hotel prestige and keeping a good and peaceful environment for guest to appreciate their stay."
Luna nodded quietly, now understanding the firm stance taken by the hotel. Before things could escalate further, the manager arrived and signaled the security team. Two suited guards approached the guest.
"Sir," the manager said firmly but politely, "you have repeatedly violated our hotel policies. We have every right to deny service. Security will escort you out."
The man's protests grew louder, but the guards maintained a calm and professional demeanor as they led him toward the exit.
Luna stood watching, slightly taken aback. It was her first day, and she hadn't expected to witness something so dramatic. Yet, she admired how the staff handled the situation—professional, firm, and respectful. She realized being a GRO wasn't just about smiles and greetings; it meant staying level-headed and graceful, even in tough situations.
As calm returned to the lobby, Luna let out a soft breath, straightened her blazer, and returned to her post—more motivated than ever to rise to the challenge.
As her first day ended and she stepped out into the evening breeze, she looked up at the hotel sign and whispered, "Day one done. Let's see where this road leads."
