Chapter 6 - Episode 5 The First Bride

THE DEVIL'S BRIDE

Episode 5: The First Bride

The palace shifted.

Not like stone or wind—but like a heart skipping a beat. A tremor in its magic. Something old had awakened.

Evelyn felt it before the torches flickered.

Before the mirrors cracked.

Before Lucien's voice reached her door.

"She's here."

Evelyn opened it. "Who?"

Lucien's jaw was clenched, his silver eyes dimmer than ever before.

"My first bride."

Evelyn froze.

"She's alive?" she whispered.

"She shouldn't be."

He said no more.

Instead, he led her through hallways that dripped shadows and memories, his steps sharp, hers silent. They reached the Hall of Lost Vows—a place where the names of every bride before Evelyn glowed faintly on the walls.

Most were faded.

One now burned bright.

"Seraphina."

Evelyn stared at the name.

Lucien's voice was a whisper. "She was everything soft. Sweet. A rose hiding thorns."

"She betrayed you," Evelyn said.

"She loved me," he replied. "Then sold my soul for a crown."

A gust of wind slammed through the corridor.

The torches died.

And then... they saw her.

Seraphina.

She stood at the end of the hall, dressed in white laced with crimson. Her eyes were no longer warm—they were gold, cracked with madness. Her lips smiled. Her voice dripped venom.

"Well," she purred, "so this is the new bride?"

Lucien stepped forward. "You don't belong here."

"I never belonged anywhere, my love," she mocked. "But I didn't come for you."

Her eyes shifted to Evelyn.

"I came for her."

Evelyn didn't flinch.

"What do you want?" she asked.

Seraphina tilted her head. "To see what kind of flame dares burn beside the Devil."

Lucien summoned a wall of fire between them. "Touch her and I'll unmake you."

Seraphina smiled through the flames. "Careful, Lucien. You almost sound like you care."

Then she vanished.

Leaving behind petals of black roses that bled.

Lucien turned to Evelyn, his voice hoarse. "She'll try to break you."

Evelyn's eyes burned with resolve. "Then she should've brought an army."

But that night… Evelyn dreamed.

Not of herself.

Not of Lucien.

She dreamed of Seraphina—screaming, drowning in a pool of white fire, as a voice whispered: "The bride must burn before she belongs."

Evelyn woke in a cold sweat, and somewhere in the palace…

Seraphina laughed.

To be continued…

Lucien's past is haunting.

Seraphina is watching.

And Evelyn's fate has only just begun...
