Chapter 55 - Episode 52 Beneath The Mask

THE DEVIL'S BRIDE

Episode 52: Beneath the Mask

By Rapwizzy Debaron

The moon hung blood-red in the sky, a silent witness to fate unraveling.

Evelyn awoke before dawn, her breath misting in the cold air. The mirror's vision still burned in her mind—of a girl becoming flame, of a crown that scorched all who dared touch it.

But now, something else burned deeper… a presence. Something ancient.

Lucien sensed it too.

"He's awake," he murmured, voice taut. "The one who wore the crown before me."

"The King Who Burns the World," Evelyn said quietly. "Your father."

---

In the underground realm of ashes, the King walked.

With each step, black vines shriveled. Flames curled in his wake—not of hell, but of vengeance.

He stopped before a cracked altar, where a sculpture of a woman's face rested. Gilded in dust, half-erased by time.

"She stole you from me," he whispered to the statue. "Now I will steal her from the world."

The King turned, face still hidden behind the obsidian mask, and summoned a creature forged of bone and sorrow.

"Send her a gift," he said. "Remind her who built the fire she wears."

---

At the Citadel gates, Kael found the courier before it collapsed—body scorched, tongue cut out.

In its hand: a single box.

Evelyn opened it slowly.

Inside… was a shard of the throne of the First King. Still smoldering.

Under it, a message written in burning ink:

> "You are my bride now. Not his."

—The King

Lucien's rage boiled. "He thinks he can take you. Use you like they all tried."

Evelyn's voice trembled—but not in fear. "Then let him come."

---

Meanwhile, Seraphhina knelt in her celestial temple, her sword across her lap.

"Two devils now rise. One crowned in rebellion. One buried in wrath," she murmured.

Behind her, her commander asked, "Shall we strike first, my Lady?"

She stared into the divine flame before her, and for once—hesitated.

"If we strike… we declare war not on hell, but on fate itself."

---

Back in the war room, Evelyn placed the shard gently on the table.

"Lucien," she said. "If he's your father… how do we kill him?"

Lucien met her gaze.

"We don't," he said. "But I know someone who might."

Evelyn frowned. "Who?"

He turned toward the shadows.

"My mother."

---

In the Realm of Silence, forgotten even by time, a woman cloaked in midnight opened her eyes.

She had felt the shift. The return of her king.

And she… had waited centuries to betray him.

---

To be continued…
