Chapter 1 - 1. "When the Heavens Finally Answered"

Redridge Province – Blazecity

Blazecity sat at the edge of Redridge Province, pressed against the claw-like mountains known as Beastback Ridge. With millions living under its shadow, the city was a battlefield of hidden ambition and clan rivalries.

At the top of this chaotic food chain stood three great families:

The Drake Clan.

The Storm Clan.

And the Leonhart Clan.

Leonhart Estate – Sealed Chamber

Deep within the heart of the Leonhart estate, beneath layers of protective formations and stone, an old man sat alone in a sealed chamber.

His name was Leo.

His skin was pale, and his breath was shallow. Yet his posture remained straight, and his eyes were sharp—burning with the last sparks of strength he had left.

He was meditating, drawing in the world's faint spiritual energy, trying once more to break through the invisible wall holding him back.

He had tried a hundred times.

Maybe more.

Today might be his last attempt.

The energy in the room swirled faster as glowing stones embedded in the walls lit up, releasing streams of white mist-like power. Leo's body drew them in like a black hole, funneling everything into his core.

CRACK!

Something inside him shifted. His body shuddered.

But just as the breakthrough seemed within reach—

SPLAT.

Blood sprayed from his mouth. His aura collapsed like a broken dam, and his skin lost what little color it had left.

A faint gray mist curled around him—the scent of death.

"Heh…" Leo coughed, bitterly smiling. "So this is how it ends."

Nearly a hundred years ago, Leo had died. Or rather, he'd woken up in this world—the Great World, a place of cultivation and power. In his past life, he was just a regular guy from Earth. But here, power ruled everything.

He had expected a cheat. A golden finger. Something to make him special.

It never came.

Instead, he clawed his way up from a mountain village, barely surviving off scraps. By luck, he found a low-grade technique and began training his body. Somehow, he reached the Core Break Stage, the first real turning point on the road to true power.

That alone made him a legend in his clan.

In the Great World, cultivation was divided into stages:

Skin Stage

Bone Stage

Muscle Stage

Blood Stage

Core Break Stage

Transcendent Stage

Soul Stage

Ascendant Stage

The first five stages trained only the body—no flight, no spells, just raw power. But even a beginner at Skin Stage could punch through stone. At Core Break, a single strike could shatter mountains.

Leo had carried the Leonhart Clan to greatness on his back.

But now his time was running out.

His body, scarred from countless battles, had long since passed its limit. Without rare pills or resources, many of his injuries never healed properly. He was down to his last few months.

Once he died, the Leonhart Clan would crumble. The other two families each had three Core Break warriors. His family had only him.

Leo sighed, eyes dim.

"I've lived one full life. This second… it was borrowed time."

But just as his thoughts began to settle, a sharp pain stabbed into his skull.

FLASH.

A cold, mechanical voice echoed in his mind.

"System activation complete.

Welcome, Host.

You have been chosen by the Legacy System.

New User Pack unlocked.

Rewards:

– Eye of Fate (Passive)

– Ancient Human Body Template

– War Codex: Fragment One

– 100,000 Luck/Fate Points

Open now? Yes / No"

Leo stared in stunned silence. Before him, a glowing screen appeared out of thin air. At its center was a sealed scroll. Below it, two simple options: Yes or No.

A dry laugh escaped his lips.

After all these years...

It finally came.

"Open it," he whispered.

And just like that, everything began to change.

The Gifts of the Legacy System

[Eye of Fate]: Allows the user to see through the strength, identity, destiny, and talent of beings up to three major realms above. Evolves into the All-Seeing Eye at full mastery.

[Primal Human Core]: Essence of the first generation of humans—purely attuned to the natural laws. Greatly boosts talent and comprehension. Note: Too vast to fully absorb at your current strength. Fusion will occur gradually as power grows.

[War Codex]: A supreme martial scripture tailored for humans, containing divine arts. Mastery leads to unrivaled power across realms.

[Fate Points]: Exclusive currency for the Legacy System's internal store. Can be used to exchange for treasures, skills, and more.

The voice of the system rang cold and mechanical in Leo's mind, each sentence precise, each word heavy with power. As the details of the New User Pack flooded into his thoughts, Leo's eyes gleamed with a sharp, burning light.

This... is no ordinary system. Any one of these gifts could turn a nobody into a legend.

And now they belonged to him.

But even with this surge of good fortune, pain still pulsed faintly through his bones and flesh. His body, though stronger than before, was still torn by internal damage from the failed breakthrough earlier.

Leo took a deep breath and muttered to himself,

"First things first—heal. Then fuse the core."

Without delay, he opened the Legacy Store.

A glowing list of artifacts, pills, and relics unfurled in his view—thousands upon thousands of items, stretching beyond sight. On the left side hovered a simple magnifying glass icon.

Leo didn't waste time browsing.

He searched for healing.

Top Healing Items (Below Core Break Stage):

Bonecleanse Pill – Heals all injuries below Core Break. Slightly improves physical talent.

Price: 998 Fate Points

Life Spring Water – Regenerates all injuries below Core Break. Even effective for Core Break users.

Price: 888 Fate Points

Fortune Pill (1st-tier) – Heals injuries and improves talent even for peak fighters.

Price: 1288 Fate Points

He eyed the options, then narrowed his focus.

The Bonecleanse Pill and Fortune Pill boost talent, but... I've already got the Primal Core. Those bonuses are pointless now.

The decision was easy.

"Exchange for Life Spring Water," he commanded mentally.

With a flash, a bottle of gently glowing liquid appeared in his palm—clear as crystal, yet humming with dense life energy.

He didn't hesitate.

Gulp. Gulp. Gulp.

As the water slid down his throat, a soothing warmth exploded outward through his body. Muscles tightened. Torn tissue knit back together. Bones realigned with faint crackles. A pleasant tingling swept over every inch of him, as if he were returning to the womb.

Fifteen minutes later, Leo stood up.

His skin was smooth, firm. His once-withered body now looked that of a strong man in his forties. The deathly pallor that clung to him for years had vanished completely.

"I might not have broken through, but with this body... I could easily live another 300 years."

He clenched his fists, a grin tugging at his lips.

So this is just the beginning...

Even Core Break experts with thousand-year lifespans would kill for a single drop of what he just drank.

Leo looked at the remaining system screen.

"If I grow the Leonhart Clan... the Fate Points will flow. But growth attracts attention, and enemies."

He exhaled slowly, eyes narrowing.

"Until we have real strength, I'll stay low. Unless someone tries to trample my family. Then... I bury them."

The Legacy System would remain his secret.

And as for cultivating talent? That would take resources. Too many, in fact. That alone could expose his power.

So he made his decision:

Even if he broke into the next realm, he would not reveal his strength.

Not yet.

"Time to fuse the Primal Core."

With his mind clear, Leo focused on the swirling essence labeled Primal Human Core.

Fuse.

In an instant, a torrent of ancient energy burst into his body—like rivers of stars crashing into his bones. His organs shimmered. His mind expanded. Spiritual energy in the room surged violently, drawn toward him like moths to flame.

He bit down, gritting his teeth.

His body trembled.

His blood glowed.

Bit by bit, his entire foundation transformed.

His perception sharpened. His meridians widened. His soul deepened.

Within moments, the quality of his body—the very tier of his talent—rose from high to top-tier, then leapt again to what the system called a Heaven-Touched Physique.

But even that... wasn't the end.

More energy surged. More refining. More light.

Until finally—

BOOM.

A burst of power exploded from Leo's body, shaking the sealed chamber.

His aura climbed.

Core Break, Level 9... Core Break, Level 10...

Transcendent Realm, Stage 1... Stage 2... Stage 3... Stage 4...

Only then did the storm settle.

Leo opened his eyes. They shone like twin suns.

"The energy mostly stabilized my foundation... but even then, I reached Transcendent Stage Four. If I'd gone all out, I might've hit the Soul Stage."

He flexed his fingers.

His strength was unreal.

"With my current power, I could crush a Transcendent Stage Seven fighter."

And he hadn't even opened the War Codex yet.

Leo smiled faintly.

"New life. New path. New goal."

"Let's start small: become the strongest in the Transcendent Realm."

With that thought, he focused on the last reward: the War Codex.

No hesitation. He tapped into it.

Suddenly, a flood of divine techniques, sacred diagrams, and martial paths poured into his mind like a tsunami.

His breathing stilled.

His old cultivation method collapsed like a sandcastle, replaced by something ancient and refined, tailored for his new physique.

The War Codex fit him perfectly—like it was made for him.

Leo's aura settled.

But beneath the calm...

A storm was building.
