IT was a Monday like every other day, but special. It was lunch on Monday where Karen had to represent her company in presentations to win contracts given by any company that came their way, but ask her, "Please what is the secret to this your undisputed success? Like how do you do it?" She could only smile and say, "It's all thanks to God and His infinite love upon my family. He has kept me safe from beginning till the end". And so, it was God's mercy and love that gave her excellent progress in her job and favour from everyone including her boss. On this day, she didn't forget to pray before starting the day's chores. She made her grandmother's breakfast and set her drugs before her. Then, having dressed up and gotten her professor's slingbag, she headed off to get her car keys and got into her car—a sweet Toyota Corolla, the Unlimited Edition. Although it was small, it had enough to carry things at the trunk and people as well. Before going out, she called her grandmother up from bed and helped her up to her wheelchair. "Grandma Nikkeh, I'm off to work. I've made your breakfast and your drugs are on the kitchen table. Your lunch is in the microwave, so you can warm it when you want. Ok?" her grandmother nodded but replied, "Could you at least help me to get on my wheelchair?" Karen nodded and assisted her. A while later, she was at her work place, StarcAn amazing spectacle of creativity and wonder. Being among the richest company in the city, it specialized in infrastructural building and real estate. It was well known to everyone and it was a household name even to their competitors.
SUNSHINE shone on Denise as he lazily woke up from sleep with a throbbing headache. He went to the mirror and looked at himself in the mirror, his dragon tattoos which he had gotten at the age of 15 was still evident despite the bulging biceps and abs. As he looked into his own eyes, he remembered the previous day's activities. He had drunken himself to stupor again. What had made him this way was equally a totally touching and painful one.
Three weeks earlier, he had gone with his friends to celebrate their anniversary of being friends at Down Town Lounge, the most popular lounge in town. The next thing he saw was a woman who looked like his wife sitting on a making out with a man while he tore her clothes off amidst being under the dark lights. He got confused at first but just the more he ignored, the more he felt like it was really his wife he saw. So he decided to confront his fears by going a little closer to this couple. But, alas, it was really his wife! How pain hearted had he felt when he remembered the times he tried to touch her but yet, she treated him like a dog, trying to bend him to her will. When he found out, filled with anger, he told his friends that he would be leaving. Wondering why, he simply pointed to the place his wife was, making love shamelessly. They too were shocked as well and one of them inadvertently took some pictures of the couple. The next day, after three years of a fruitless and faithless marriage, he filed for a divorce. His mother demanded reasons, to which the son told her to go to her to ask. She left for her parent's house, with bitterness and doubt as to whether he had seen her at the Down Town Lounge. But, one thing still remained, she still kept seeing her man whether Denise was around or not.
Having taken a shower and gotten dressed for work, he was off with a quiet and sullen face. Every one of his staff feared him for his cold, indifferent attitude. His office was bustling with clients while the staffs were attending to them. As soon as he stepped into the room, an uneasy silence fell on the whole room. Even his clients who don't know what was going on could tell from the minds of the staff that a deadly aura was approaching. He walked on, being used to this quiet behavior and headed to his office with his P.A holding his bag, trailing behind. A staff was on her way with her friend chatting happily with a cup of coffee in her hand when she suddenly bumped into Denise. Immediately, fear and terror spread like an epidemic. The staff all around wondered what would happen to her as they prayed that she wouldn't end up being sacked like the others who were when he was married. He simply looked at the petrified girl in the eyes and simply sighed, then walked to his office where he asked his P.A to take his coat and shirt to the dry cleaner nearby and gave him some money for the job and also to buy a new long sleeved shirt. He sat doing nothing but staring into space and thinking of nothing else. His subconsciousness took the opportunity to talk to him. Keep yourself together; you have a meeting with Starcom Technologies to expand your company's branches and at least put on a smile. He tried but ended up smirking. He sighed and nodded. Ok, then. I'll do my best to make sure that the presentation is a success. After the day's work, he drove home and passed the lounge. He felt the urge to drink but then, the mood disappeared. He didn't want to come in late like other times. So he chose to go home and sleep well. Besides, he had a big day ahead of him.
THE NEXT DAY...….
Karen looked with awe and surprise as she stepped into the renowned headquarters of DellyWare Industries. The smell of pantry filled the air and she caught a whiff of it. No wonder people said that entering here was like haven. However, she got startled out of her reverie when the P.A called to let them know that the CEO had arrived. They immediately rose to acknowledge him. As Denise's and Karen's eyes met, suddenly it started to drizzle. That moment sparked something in him as if he was greeted by an angel and he wasn't willing to let this angel go. All throughout the presentation, his eyes were only on Karen. At the end of the presentation, the two companies met together and shook hands on a job well done. Denise said to the MD, "I am impressed with your presentation plans for my company. Say, are you sure you don't want us to make a trade with your best staff for ours?" glancing at Karen. At first, the owner, Mr. Davis McCollins looked with a sneer, and then he laughed jokingly. "Oh, no. I'd rather make a billion dollar contract than sell my most precious item." Denise shrugged, and then went to sign the contract with Davis. Karen stood by, watching the entire scenario unfold. Then, she went to the board room and took her seat.
