Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

She always went to bed early and got up early here, so she didn't need it and never prepared any.

After clearing the dishes and tidying the kitchen, she filled a basin with clean water to soak in the room. The refreshing feeling washed away her gloomy mood, making her very comfortable.

While soaking, her mind started thinking again. He probably wouldn't make a move tonight since he still couldn't move.

After the bath, she washed and hung up her clothes to dry, then lay on the bed like a corpse. After tossing and turning for a long time without sleep, she finally fell into a deep sleep from exhaustion.

Oh...

Outside, the sky was already bright. Maybe because of her biological clock, Pearl Su habitually opened her eyes and yawned. She didn't want to move.

She kept lying on the bed, motionless. After half an hour, her stomach began to protest.

She got up, stretched, went out of the room to wash up, and made breakfast.

After preparing breakfast, she boiled the medicine, ate her own breakfast, then carried his breakfast and knocked on his door.

"Young master, it's time for breakfast."

A low voice came from inside, making Pearl Su's heart tremble.

She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself, then went in with the breakfast and handed it to him.

This morning was vegetable porridge with a few boiled quail eggs. She originally didn't want to give him such good food, but it was not yet time to tear apart, so she included the eggs.

"Miss Su, did you not sleep well last night?" Alaric Yun asked with concern when he saw her looking bad.

Did he bring up that sad thing yesterday? Made her upset.

No wonder she couldn't sleep well. She was nervous all night, afraid he would come to kill her.

"Uh, no, I slept fine. Young master, please enjoy your meal." Pearl Su turned and left.

After going out, she gritted her teeth, angrily cursing in her heart. This dog man was fake and just wanted to see her suffer.

Holding back her anger, she went to the storage room to prepare the tools she needed for going out today. It was almost time, so she brought his medicine in again.

He didn't take the brown sugar medicine yesterday, so she didn't prepare it today. She knocked and entered, handing him the medicine coldly.

"Young master, your medicine."

"Thank you, Miss Su." Alaric Yun looked at her and noticed her slight change in mood. She was unhappy?

She reached out her delicate, beautiful hand gracefully to take the medicine and drank it down.

"I'm going out for a while, should be back around the same time as yesterday. Young master, please rest well." Pearl Su said calmly.

"Miss Su, do you have anyone familiar nearby?" Alaric Yun asked after drinking the medicine.

"No." Pearl Su answered coldly, secretly thinking: Hmph, afraid she might suddenly die quietly and someone close to her would come to get revenge on him. He was asking so clearly because he wanted to repay kindness with hatred.

It's just because she looked at his body. So what? If it weren't for him being good-looking back then...

Ah, she really wanted to slap herself a few times. Why was she so cheap, insisting on saving him...

Alaric Yun nodded and made a knowing gesture. Furious, Pearl Su wanted to act but held back.

She cursed silently: This dog man really wants to kill her. Asking so many questions means he's making a plan. Then let's see who makes the first move.

Holding back her anger, she took the bowls and went out, tidied the kitchen again, and laid out the herbs to dry. She put on her backpack and went out.

She arrived at the place where she caught fish and shrimp last time. She got into the water and put the trap in the spot she had set, so fish and shrimp would swim in.

After finishing this, Pearl Su carried her tools and walked up the mountain.

The sun rose higher, hanging directly overhead. It was almost noon.

Pearl Su came down from the mountain, went to the stream, and checked the fish trap. There were only a few small shrimps. She was a little disappointed but still picked up the trap and headed back.

On the way, she picked some wild bitter wheat. When she returned to the house, she felt like she was about to sweat from the heat and was about to drink some water.

Suddenly, a deep and elegant voice came from nearby.

"Miss Su, you're back!"

Pearl Su turned her head and saw Alaric Yun smiling gently, standing only a few steps away.

He had changed clothes. Though it was just coarse linen, it did not hide his graceful and noble air.

Pearl Su's heart jumped sharply, feeling very nervous.

"Sir, you can move now?"

He clearly couldn't move this morning. She was still thinking about what to do with him.

She had diagnosed that he could only move tomorrow, so she planned to take advantage of that...

"Hmm, I must thank Miss Su for taking care of me these days. Alaric Yun just recovered so quickly," Alaric Yun said with a gentle smile, his voice like a soft spring breeze.

But when Pearl Su heard this, it felt like thunder had struck her: I will repay you well for spying on me!

"Sir, you are too polite. It's what I should do," Pearl Su said, feeling guilty and awkward. Her face was calm, but the redness from the sun made it look strange.

Alaric Yun smiled warmly. His eyes fell on two vine baskets, finally resting on the one filled with herbs.

"Soul-breaking grass, Miss Su, you actually managed to find such a thing!" Alaric Yun said with surprise.

Pearl Su's heart jumped again. Her eyes also focused on the grass. It was bigger and stuck out from the basket.

"Oh, it's for emergencies," she said.

As soon as she spoke, Pearl Su wished she could swallow her tongue.

What a stupid thing to say. It was like openly admitting she had poison that could harm people. And now this man knew, so he would be cautious.

"So Miss Su also knows how to make poison."

"Medicine and poison are similar. Naturally, I know a bit," Pearl Su replied.

Hmph, you know now. Since you know my methods, you won't dare to act rashly against me.

"Sir, please wait. I'll go make lunch." Without waiting for Alaric Yun to say anything else, Pearl Su grabbed the ingredients from the basket and headed to the kitchen.

Once inside, sensing no one followed, Pearl Su took several deep breaths, then gulped down some water. Her body slumped weakly onto a stool.

After resting for a while, she finally steadied her mind and started cooking.

Today, she hadn't gathered much and wasn't in the mood, so she cooked casually.

After finishing, she brewed the medicine, then knocked on his door and said, "Sir, lunch is ready."

But then, she saw a graceful figure approaching calmly from the other side.

Seeing him like that, Pearl Su lost her anger. He looked like a proper gentleman. How could he be so petty, getting angry just because she glanced at his body? Then wanting to kill to keep it secret, truly cruel.

"Sir, let's eat in the kitchen," Pearl Su said without expression, holding back her anger.

"Alright, thank you, Miss Su," Alaric Yun smiled and gestured for her to lead the way.

In the kitchen, Pearl Su placed the only two stools opposite each other, then served the porridge.

The dishes on the table were just the stir-fried bitter wheat greens she had picked earlier, plus a few dried shrimp in each bowl.

Pearl Su picked up her chopsticks and started eating. She quickly finished a bowl of porridge with the vegetables.

After eating, she looked up and saw the man had only eaten half a bowl of porridge and just a little of the vegetables.

She asked, "Sir, why aren't you eating?"
