Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The script

"Let go of me you bitch! Don't you want to kill this bastard?! Let go!" Screamed Vivian, glaring at me, as Anna had her pinned down. I looked at Anna and all I saw were... dead eyes.

Hmm.

Have I been going too hard on her?

... could be, she looks like someone who has lost all hope.

I don't really care how she feels but given I still have use of her in the future, I can let her fall into despair to the point she would want to take her own life. I would lose a great pawn if that happened.

"Anna," she looks at me.

Hmm, I should really do something about this, it seems I am exhausting her mentally, and that's not good.

"If she escapes... kill her," I tossed a dagger close to her and turned around, walking towards the sea.

Well, I will worry about her after getting off this Legacy world. For now, all that matters is surviving.

The moment we appeared in this world, Vivian had for some reason appeared without the ether cuffs. It seemed she expected it as she instantly tried to use her ability on Anna, but strangely enough, Anna didn't react to her commands. I think it has something to do with the slave seal, perhaps Anna can only ever take commands from me.

Well, realizing this, I ordered Anna to hold her down and now, here I am, staring at the vast sea before me.

"Tell me how to enslave a person. Don't beat around the bush, just tell me what I want to know," I said looking at the sea before me.

Blue with calm waves.

It seems this Legacy is based on an island.

[... Knowing this will be to your own detriment]

I ignored it's warnings, I don't give a fuck about consequences.

"That's my problem to worry about. You gave me the chance for revenge, so don't handicap me," I said, sitting down on the sandy beach of the island, my eyes closed as I let the calm wash over me.

[... What do you plan to do?]

The voice asked, and I just sighed.

"... I have to get back into the Vermillion, only then can I get into Arcane Legacy," I said.

I am too weak as I am, and the only way to get to the level of strength I desire, is by taking away all the 'opportunities' the FAVORED characters are meant to 'stumble' upon.

Though some of this 'opportunities' exist in Vermillion academy, it'a just a fraction compared to what is in store at Arcane Legacy, so I have to find a way back into that academy as the final semester begins.

[and how do you plan to achieve that?] it asked.

Hmm.

"Isn't it more fun if you watch it all play out?" I asked, I was pretty sure the main reason this being-whatever it is-saved me, was so I could... entertain it.

So that's what I am going to do.

It gave me the power for revenge, a second chance to make them all pay, so I will give it what it wants in return.

Entertainment.

[Hmm? Interesting. But, just a friendly reminder... be wary of the human heart. If you try to control the emotions of other beings, there will be consequences]

"...,"

It seems it has an idea what I plan to do. Well, It changes nothing, I will proceed as planned.

"How long do you estimate my getting off this island?" I asked.

[Time runs differently here... probably a year,]

Hm.

If my thoughts are correct, then there is probably danger waiting for me outside this Legacy world, if that's right, then I can start with my plans of manipulating Anna, but before I can do that, I need to get Vivian under control.

[... It is an eternal contract. A taboo against the divine. To enslave another being, you must sacrifice something of unparalleled value]

Just as I thought.

I looked to the side and picked up a strange flower, a lone plant on the sand.

"How do I do it?"

[I will want you for the last time, the more people you enslave, the more of your humanity you lose]

Well, a normal being would never be able to kill a god in the first place. I would be a lying if I said losing my emotions doesn't affect me on a fundamental level, but, that doesn't mean I would sacrifice this ability to regain those emotions.

It was this same emotions that destroyed me. If I wasn't saved that day, I would have already been a footnote in the grand plot of fate. A forgotten entity probably no one will remember. So I will not remain shackled by such mundane feelings, even if I die in this quest of mine. I want to die knowing I defied the script, I challenged the odds, and I rewrote my fate.

"Tell me, how do I do it exactly?" I asked, and then... it spoke.

[You must die again]
