Cherreads

Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Today, I originally wanted to work hard with Lapras to defeat some wild Pokémon and grind some points.

But I didn't expect the Elite Four to suddenly appear in the Orange Archipelago.

Disrupting his rhythm, Riku returned to the small wooden house, thinking of making a hearty dinner to reward the three birds and the Red Shrimp. These four had indeed worked hard during this time to help Riku grind more points.

Who would have thought that upon entering the small wooden house, only the Red Shrimp was there, idling around. And the large water tank outside was actually empty of fish.

All along, the three birds had prepared the ingredients, Riku had cooked, and the division of labor had been seamless.

Today, the three birds weren't home and hadn't returned with any fish. It didn't seem normal at all.

"Red Shrimp, where did the three birds go?"

"How would I know? I'm not their father," the Red Shrimp shook its head, very perfunctorily.

"Anyway, I guarded the egg in the wooden house all day today. Tonight, Master, you have to reward me. It's best if you get me a few Flying-type law berries, otherwise I won't do such time-wasting stupid things in the future."

"Flying-type law berries? You wish," Riku said unhappily.

"Not only are there no berries, but the three birds didn't go out to catch fish today. We might not even have dinner."

"Anyway, you're so strong, skipping one meal won't kill you."

"No way," Groudon drew a long face.

"I may not have contributed today, but I worked hard. Is this how you treat me, Master?"

"My weak heart has suffered a serious blow. I'm afraid I won't be able to train tomorrow..."

"Don't act in front of me!" Riku said speechlessly.

"Forget it."

"Anyway, I'm tired of eating fish. Luckily, I bought some canned food a few days ago. It should be enough for you to eat for a few days."

"Canned food? What canned food?" Groudon was taken aback.

When it saw Riku take out two cans from the storage box, it immediately became a bit unhappy. "Just this stuff?"

"What's so delicious about it? It's so hard on the teeth."

Riku was shocked. "No way! I know you can't find food and often go hungry, but you wouldn't eat the can's packaging, would you?"

"What packaging?" Groudon asked, puzzled.

"Could there be something inside the cans? Anyway, I picked up these so-called cans in the forest a long time ago, and they tasted bad."

"Poor kid," Riku sighed.

"Tonight, you'll fall in love with canned food, but we have to wait for the three birds to come back first."

Saying that, seeing Groudon's disbelieving look, Riku didn't bother to explain.

For some reason, with the three birds not at home, Riku didn't feel like cooking. Walking towards the Ralts egg, he carefully observed it.

Originally, he wanted to find a clean cloth to wipe it, but he noticed that the surface of the egg had more red and blue patterns. Last night, Riku had seen it occasionally flashing red and green light, and now it seemed even more serious.

If he didn't look carefully, Riku would have thought the Ralts egg had cracked.

"Red Shrimp, what's going on?" Riku asked nervously.

Entrusted by a Champion level pokemon, Riku hadn't dared to be careless for a moment, but he didn't expect a problem to still arise.

Groudon shook its head. "I don't know. I'm only responsible for guarding it. Why did the egg become like this... anyway, it wasn't me who did it."

Groudon's last words were a bit weak. If Kyogre were here, it would definitely expose Groudon's lie.

"Could it be after-effects from the battle between those two Legendary Pokémon last time?" Riku murmured to himself, lowering his head.

Hearing Riku's words, Groudon's heart skipped a beat.

As the Lord of the Land, it could only pray to the heavens now, hoping that nothing would happen to Ralts's egg.

At the same time,

On a red-themed island in the Orange Archipelago, Articuno was pacing back and forth restlessly.

"Snowy, at least give me some face, will you?"

"This is my home."

Seeing Articuno so impatient, Moltres felt a bit uncomfortable.

"If I wasn't giving you face, I would have turned around and left right now!" Articuno complained.

"I don't know what's wrong with you."

"It's one thing to be covered in flames, but you even chose such a scorching island as your lair. Aren't you afraid of the heat?"

"Don't bring that up! You're the same!" Moltres retorted.

"Your ice island is frozen all year round, like some kind of lunatic."

"By the way, Master always says food spoils easily, right? Should we have Master move the food to the ice island?"

"Bullshit..."

Flap flap—

The familiar sound of wings flapping came from outside, and Zapdos flew in after a short while.

"Zappy, how is it?"

"The situation is bad," Zapdos said, a bit annoyed.

"Those human Champion Trainers have lost their minds, several of them have come."

"And they're all veteran Champions, very powerful!"

"Even the three of us, to deal with so many Champion Trainers, plus those three dogs we drove away but don't know when they'll pop up again, I'm afraid we'll be stretched too thin and won't be able to handle it."

Articuno's face was frosty. "The main thing is that we can't fully use our powers. Our own territory hasn't brought any advantages; instead, it's added more concerns."

Moltres shook its head. "There's no other way now. We can only choose to defeat them one by one."

"I could have thought of that too," Zapdos nodded.

"But in that case, we'll need a lot of time to track down these humans."

"Don't forget, Master will definitely make us train tomorrow."

"That's indeed a problem," Articuno and Moltres sighed.

"Let's think of a countermeasure. How about we just say we're injured?"

"No way," Zapdos shook its head.

"I've tried that excuse countless times. If we really dare to use it, Master will dare to train us to death tomorrow."

"Let's find another excuse."

"How about..."

Before long, the three legendary birds came up with more than a dozen excuses. But they were quickly rejected one by one.

Finally, Zapdos came up with a ruthless one.

And hearing this suggestion, Articuno immediately looked constipated. "Bro, can we not do that?"

"That's too damaging to my image. How will I face other Pokémon in the future?"
