Chapter 17 - Duel at the Temple of Light and the Defense Outside

Duel at the Temple of Light and the Defense Outside

Inside the Temple of Light, the main chamber radiated a calming yet tense bluish-green glow. In its center, the third Ruby shone, surrounded by ancient symbols emanating mysterious energy. Lesendra stood tall, his obsidian diamond sword glowing with steady red-gold light in his hand, and his golden hand trembled slightly, ready for the challenge.

From the shadows, a figure cloaked in dark blue with a silver mask over his face stepped forward, his green eyes glowing. His voice echoed like a whisper. "If you want this Ruby, prove not just your strength, but your heart. For strength without heart is nothing but destruction."

Lesendra clenched his golden hand, his breath steady. "I fight not for power. I fight because I know strength does not belong to a few who claim to be rulers. Strength is a trust. And I will not let this world be oppressed by the illusion of power."

The battle began with flashes of light tearing through the space, Lesendra's red-gold sword slashing the air, radiating waves of warm energy. The guardian countered with intricate spear movements in the air, reflecting Lesendra's attack while conjuring an alluring blue mist.

Meanwhile, outside the Temple of Light, Seira and Eryvan held back the forces of the Throne of Darkness, who were trying to breach the illusion gap they had opened earlier. Seira shot with precision, taking down soldiers with glowing arrows, while Eryvan swung his staff, releasing red waves that halted the enemy's advance.

"We have to hold them longer!" Seira shouted, her breath ragged.

Eryvan looked at her, his voice calm. "Trust in Lesendra. He will succeed."

Inside the temple, Lesendra was being pushed back. The guardian's spear emitted blue patterns that cracked the floor, forcing Lesendra to leap backward. But he gripped his sword tighter, merging the red-gold light with the glow of his golden hand, creating a strike that shattered the guardian's mist illusion.

"I am not a god," Lesendra whispered, his eyes blazing. "I am merely a human… carrying a fragment of their power. And I choose to remain human, not a ruler!"

The guardian bowed his head, his spear trembling. "You have proven your heart… But your journey is still long."

Lesendra delivered one final slash, creating a burst of red-gold light that tore through the space, causing the guardian to retreat respectfully, and the third Ruby floated toward Lesendra's sword, slowly merging, radiating bluish-green light that blended with the red-gold from before.

Outside the temple, the forces of the Throne of Darkness began to retreat slowly, intimidated by the light shining from within. Seira and Eryvan looked toward the temple door, their breaths relieved.

"He did it..." Seira whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Eryvan smiled faintly. "But this is just the beginning."

Lesendra emerged from the Temple of Light, his sword now radiating a calm red-gold-blue glow, and his golden hand shining warmly, harmonizing with his soul. He looked at Seira and Eryvan, his voice deep and full of meaning.

"We will keep moving forward. We will shatter their illusion of power and free this world… not just from hollow strength, but also from the fear that binds it."

Under the Mythra sky, now glowing with the soft light of dawn, Lesendra, Seira, and Eryvan stood together, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their struggle—not just to defeat the Throne of Darkness, but to free the hearts and minds of all beings in Mythra.

After successfully retrieving the third Ruby from the Temple of Light, Lesendra, Seira, and Eryvan continued their journey towards a hidden temple in northern Mythra, where the fourth Ruby was concealed. The sky over Mythra was now cloaked in heavy clouds, flashing faint lightning and carrying a cold wind with the scent of wet earth.

"This fourth temple… it's no ordinary place," murmured Eryvan, his eyes focused intently on the old map that emitted faint glowing patterns. "It is there the true guardian deity awaits. Not just a shadow of power, but the last sentinel before the Throne of Darkness."

Lesendra clenched the obsidian diamond sword, now shining with a red-gold-blue-greenish glow, a sign that the power of three Rubies had fused. His golden hand emitted a warm light, blending with the strength within him. "I'm ready. Whatever awaits, I will not back down."

Their path took them through dense forests with towering black trees and roots entangling the trail. Faint whispers echoed, as if calling their names from the shadows. Seira gripped her bow tightly, her eyes vigilant.

As they approached a vast ravine dipping into the earth, the ground trembled violently, causing the trees to sway wildly. The sky of Mythra crackled with bluish-white lightning, and from the center of the ravine, a deep blue light emerged, forming a giant winged figure that enveloped the sky.

The figure gradually took shape—a guardian deity radiating blue-silver light, its towering form with piercing, star-like eyes clad in armor reflecting the light of the stars. In its right hand, it held a crystal spear pulsing with patterns of lightning, and in its left, a large ring emitting ancient magical symbols.

"Lesendra…" Eryvan murmured, his breath catching. "That's him… the guardian deity of the fourth Ruby. He's not just a shadow. He is a god who still retains the remnants of ancient power before the Throne of Darkness seized it."

The guardian deity gazed at Lesendra, its eyes seemingly piercing into his soul. Its voice echoed loudly, shaking the ground. "Little human… you have taken three Rubies. But the strength you carry is not enough to challenge true power. This fourth Ruby… is only for one who understands the meaning of power not as dominance, but as responsibility."

Lesendra stepped forward, his sword glowing ever brighter, his hand clenched. "I will prove that I'm worthy. I am not a god. I am only a human who carries a fragment of their power. And I refuse to be a slave to dominance. I choose to be a human who uses this strength to free the world."

The guardian deity nodded slowly, its spear crackling with lightning that struck the ground, creating a vast burning crater. "Very well, little human. If you want this Ruby… come. Show me your heart. Not just your strength."

Lesendra looked at Seira and Eryvan, his eyes shining with determination. "Are you ready?"

Seira nodded, her eyes glowing. "Always."

Eryvan looked up at the flashing sky. "Let's show them that true power is not for destruction, but for liberation."

They stepped forward, entering the battle zone bathed in flashes of blue light and lightning, marking the beginning of a fight that would test not just their strength, but also their hearts and souls.

In the midst of the ravine crackling with blue lightning and trembling ground, Lesendra faced the guardian deity of the fourth Ruby. His obsidian diamond sword gleamed red-gold-blue-greenish, while his golden hand glowed warmly, radiating an aura fused with the power he had learned.

The guardian deity stood tall, its crystal spear pulsing with bluish-white lightning, its starry eyes piercing. "You carry great power, little human. But is your heart strong enough to control this power, rather than be controlled by it?"

Lesendra gripped his sword, his eyes blazing. "I'll prove that I'm not just a wielder of power. I'm a human who rejects hollow dominance!"

The duel began. Lesendra surged forward, slashing his sword with a wave of red-gold light, creating an explosion that struck the guardian's spear. The guardian easily parried, forming a wall of lightning that split the earth, sending both of them flying back, but they stood firm once again.

Seira and Eryvan, watching from a distance, held their breath, witnessing a battle where power wasn't just about might, but also the will of the heart.

Suddenly, the sky of Mythra cracked with a ripping sound, and from the mist emerged a tall figure in a black cloak, wielding a long, double-bladed spear emitting black lightning. Kael'Var appeared on the battlefield, his eyes glowing deep red, his body surrounded by a dark aura that absorbed the surrounding light.

"So, you've all gathered here…," Kael'Var murmured, his voice deep and cutting. "The little human, the guardian deity, and the Ruby. All of you… will be mine."

Lesendra stared at Kael'Var, his red-gold eyes burning with fury and resolve. "You won't take anything from here. This doesn't belong to you!"

Kael'Var swung his spear, unleashing a wave of black energy that shattered the ground, forcing the guardian deity to block the attack with its lightning spear, creating a burst of blue and black light that broke the surrounding rocks. Lesendra took the chance to strike Kael'Var from the side, but Kael'Var deflected with full force, sending Lesendra staggering back.

A triangular duel began. Lesendra, the guardian deity, and Kael'Var exchanged deadly blows, tearing the earth, breaking the sky, and creating pillars of light and shadow rising to the heavens. Flashes of blue, red, gold, and black intertwined, turning the battlefield into a dazzling inferno.

Yet no one could claim victory. Lesendra fought with courage and heart, the guardian deity held back attacks while protecting the Ruby, and Kael'Var struck with a dark power that threatened to obliterate everything.

Finally, the three stood, breathing heavily, none truly winning or losing. Lesendra stared at Kael'Var with eyes full of resolve. "You'll never win, Kael'Var. I won't let you destroy this world."

Kael'Var smirked, his eyes burning red. "You're strong, little human. But remember… I will never back down."

The guardian deity looked at both with eyes full of wisdom. "Your journey has only just begun. This Ruby… is still waiting for its true master."

The sky of Mythra rumbled, the ground shook, and dust swirled, marking that this battle had just opened the door to a grander, more mysterious chapter.
