Chapter 28 - Matteo’s Vengeance

The first one who stepped out and saw Matteo pointed his gun and shouted, "Don't move!"

But as he blinked, Matteo was closed the distance and hid in the shadow because it night.

As the man stepped forward, confused, Matteo appeared behind him. Without hesitation, Matteo pointed his Beretta 92 at him and shot him instantly.

Another man who had already been awake and was watching froze in shock.

How is he able to move that fast? he thought, trembling. A normal human isn't supposed to move like that. This isn't human… this is what they call superhuman.

Shaking, the man raised his gun and shouted, "I'm not going to die! I'll kill you!"

But before he could pull the trigger, Matteo had already fired. The bullet struck him down.

More men rushed out from the bunk, weapons ready. They saw Matteo standing in front of them, within range, walking slowly.

As they aimed to shoot—he vanished.

He slipped into the darkness. Then, in the next blink, he was standing under the light again. It was terrifying. He moved with such speed it seemed like he wasn't even human.

They stared in disbelief.

What is going on?

Some of them who hadn't blinked swore they saw a blur. A flash. But even then, they couldn't believe what they were witnessing.

Is this person even human? Who is he?

What they didn't know was that Matteo had a sniper rifle slung over his back. Without warning, he brought it out and fired—one single shot that destroyed the bunker and everyone in it.

The noise echoed through the compound. The people inside the mansion heard the blast.

Immediately, more men began rushing down.

Matteo now had to make a choice. He needed to go up into the mansion before he was surrounded. He had to end this himself.

The door to the main building was locked.

He didn't hesitate. He began punching the door repeatedly with his bare fists until it broke open. His knuckles bled from the wild force, but he didn't care.

That was the main entrance to the mansion.

The first man inside who held a gun tried to shoot him—but Matteo was faster. He shot him first.

Matteo picked up the man's body, slung it over his shoulder, and began walking forward, using it as a shield.

Two more men appeared, guns drawn. Matteo saw them and opened fire, still using the dead body as cover. He shot both men with precision, killing them instantly.

Behind him, another attacker thought he could sneak up unnoticed. The man rushed forward with a knife, but Matteo was ready.

He dodged smoothly and delivered a powerful punch that sent the man flying. The attacker was instantly unconscious.

Matteo had trained for this.

When he was still in the mafia, the man who trained him had sent him deep into the wilderness.

Matteo had lived in the forest during a mafia training which was compulsory for only him since the former head of Gambino family jokingly told him to do so if really wanted to become a mafia, but he took it serious and did so.

He lived there for two whole years, surviving alone, becoming something more than human.

That's what made him so strong—he trained every day, pushing himself beyond his limits.

His strength was incomparable to any human.

Rumors have it he was as strong as a bison, and as fast as a red fox in his movements.

Rumors have it that he fought with his bare hands against wild animals and could send a gorilla flying using just his fists. Apart from rumors Matteo was strong and smart. He had defeated a bear with a weapons together with pure strength, though he often suffered serious injuries when he was still training to become a mafia member.

During his training under the former head of the Gambino family, the man trained Matteo to become than any man—and before he was a mafia he also undergoes training has an assassin which he became an expert in assassination. No one else could have achieved it, but Matteo did.

Even before he joined the mafia, when they sent him on assassination missions, sometimes he didn't need a gun—he only needed his fists. That's why they once called him the God of Victory.

As Matteo kept moving forward, he saw two more men approaching. He hid for a moment, then pulled out two knives from his pocket. He threw the first one with brute strength—his aim was perfect. The knife went directly into the enemy's head.

The other one was shocked. Before he could react, Matteo was already near him and used a knife to slice his neck, then spat on their bodies.

"Losers."

"So where is Mario going to be? I'm sure he's in the upper building. I just have to get through all these mosquitoes. I have to kill all these mosquitoes first, because they're not enough to satisfy my rage," Matteo said as he went upstairs, moving through the building.

Immediately, two more men cornered him, pointing guns at him. He didn't move. As they were about to shoot, Matteo jumped straight up the staircase, driving a hard knee into both their faces at the same time. Before they even hit the ground, they were unconscious.

As he moved up the staircase, he heard gunshots and realized someone was trying to shoot him. The person missed. Matteo immediately took cover, grabbing the body of one of the men he had just killed to use as a shield again.

As he moved further up the stairs, he brought out his gun and started shooting. But his aim wasn't accurate, because he didn't know where the shooter was. The shooter knew exactly where he was—just above him on the staircase.

It was a spiral staircase, like the kind you'd find in a castle. That was the way it was built.
